Zombies below y=50 should have a (fairly common) chance to hold pickaxes

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:17 AM PDT

This is an idea that's not really often talked about, but a great one none the less. this feature would not only add challenge, but also fix a problem that not many people talk about, that i will speak more of momentarily.

Firstly, the challenge. its not that great of a difficulty change, obviously, but it's something, at least. the slight damage boost would increase the difficulty of mining very minorly (excuse the pun), giving players a nice challenge, as zombies with pickaxes would be fairly common underground, about a 50% chance.

Secondly, the world building. Seeing zombies underground with pickaxes will definitely make the world feel more fleshed out, and make the player think about the zombie's past lives and what they used to do, which is just a nice little feature that people would enjoy in their world.

Finally, the "big problem" i teased in the beginning. We've all been there at one point, you're down a mine, looking for "just one last vein of diamond" when, *CRACK\*. its broken. your final pickaxe broke, because you weren't paying attention. no big deal, right? you'll just take a left here, a right here, head up this.... oh, you're lost. now, in this situation, you have two options. you can either break your hand on some stone for about an hour trying to get out, or option two, spend a couple more hours scoping out the entire area for your exit. obviously, these two aren't the most fun thing to do, so why not give the players a third option? simply steal a pickaxe from a resident in the cave! that way new players could easily find a way out without having to waste countless hours on the previous solutions.

Sorry for the big post, but the tl;dr is that zombies would be stronger, interestinger and helpfuller (those last two words are totally a thing don't google it)

    Thanks for reading!

C418 - Intro plays after arriving back home after defeating the Ender Dragon for the first time.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 11:58 AM PDT

Like the title says. After the End Poem and credits, C418 - Intro plays.

The song is seriously, by far the most beautiful, calming, amazing thing I've ever heard in my life and it's not even in the game. Why is that?

I say we play it after defeating the Ender Dragon. It only plays after defeating it for the first time in a world. Once it has played in a world, it will never play again.

The credits theme (C418 - Credits) plays during the End Poem and credits, obviously. It's more upbeat, but it's also incredibly beautiful. It contains multiple different songs, including songs from Creative, Survival and the Battle Minigame. It's supposed to make you reflect on your time playing Minecraft. After the loading screen's silence, you would be greeted back home with the most calming, peaceful song in the game (well, currently, it's not in the game, obviously), trying to put you at ease, tell you that you've done it. Normally people would kill the dragon, be exited, collect the egg and XP, maybe gather some Endstone, jump in the End Fountain, cry over how pretty the credits theme and End Poem are and either move on to get Shulker Boxes or log off. Having such a peaceful song would encourage them to calm down, take a break and rest.

I'd really, really love to have this song play in game and I think after the credits would be the perfect time.

    Witch Hats

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 10:17 AM PDT

Small suggestion, but I think it'll be a cool thing to have. Witches have a rare chance of dropping their hat when they die, the player can wear the the hat, but it gives no benefit other than looking cool. It's a small and kinda useless addition, but it'll be nice, I would imagine if a player got one, they'd display it on an armor stand in their house/base.

    New blocks for bamboo

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 12:28 PM PDT

    Bamboo block

Bamboo blocks would be crafted with 9 bamboo, one in every slot in a crafting table.

These would have a design similar to hay bales, except using the bamboo texture.

    Bamboo mat

Bamboo mats would be crafted using 2 bamboo, with the crafting recipe being like the carpets recipe.

These would have a similar look to carpet blocks, except having the bamboo texture.

    Bamboo basket

Bamboo baskets would be crafted with 8 bamboo, with the crafting recipe being like the chests recipe.

Bamboo baskets would act like chests, being a new storage block. They would also have a lid design on top, which is flipped open when interacted with (same way as barrels).

    Bamboo walling

Bamboo walling would be crafted using 2 bamboo, one in the bottom left slot and one in the middle left slot of a crafting table.

These would be like carpet blocks that can only be placed sideways (more of a decorative thing).

    Bamboo pot

Bamboo pots would be crafted using 3 bamboo, with the crafting recipe being like the pots recipe.

These would be like pots, except using the bamboo texture.

    Bamboo fence

Bamboo fences would be crafted using 6 bamboo, with the crafting recipe being like the fences recipe.

These would look like a fence with the connecting bars making an x shape.

    Bamboo door

Bamboo doors would be crafted using 6 bamboo, with the crafting recipe being like the doors recipe.

These doors wouldn't open like normal, instead sliding mostly into the block next to it (a small part of the door would poke out and would need to be right clicked to open).

My take on making phantoms great agai-, I mean, at all: Nightmares, not insomnia

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 12:54 PM PDT

Instead of spawning at night when you havent slept in a few nights, and forcing players at mob-point to use an item that already needed nerfed, how about we do the exact opposite and actually nerf said item?

Each time you sleep, there's a cumulative chance of having a nightmare, and thus causing phantoms to spawn and being unable to sleep that night. Certain conditions can make the chance increase faster, such as sleeping on an empty stomach, or while wounded, wearing your armor to bed, sleeping under the open sky, near a nether portal, or in a bed other than the one you've already claimed, etc. If you like, having not slept recently can increase these odds too, but this way it only triggers once you finally do sleep, causing an interesting situation where the first time you craft a bed, you're basically guaranteed to have nightmares, and you have to fight your way through them to actually get the benefit of the bed.

Rather than the odds resetting to zero when you have a nightmare, I would like to see them cut in half each night you attempt to sleep, so that there's a more gradual recovery from unsavory conditions. You could even have nightmares themselves increase the odds of having another nightmare, resulting in episodes of chains of nightmares ruining your sleep from time to time, only to eventually subside on their own.

You could also possibly reduce the odds of having a nightmare by keeping decorative blocks like flowers, jukeboxes, paintings, etc nearby, or by having pets. Just a thought.

Sea Jellies: An Ocean Mob with a Twist.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:24 PM PDT

So first off, the animal is a a sea jelly, not a fish in any way, and so I will be referring to them as such.

Yes, this is an FPS topic. BUT I've not seen anyone suggest this the way I am, so I'm gonna do it.

Basically, to diversify ocean mobs, Sea Jellies would exist and spawn in cold, warm and deep ocean biomes. Now here is my twist, as the mob would not resemble a real sea jelly entirely.

    They are aquatic Slimes.

Sea Jellies or simply Jellies would have the appearance of a blue slime with some tentacle arms dangling down. They would usually float around aimlessly, moving beneath the water in a similar motion to slime jumps, and would drop Jelly Bubbles upon death, which act the same as slimeballs and can be used in the same recipes, except the block. They would also deal poison damage and make small strikes with their arms rather than body slamming the player.

These would serve as a way to obtain Slime without searching for a slime chunk as well as when you have a large, ocean based server/world.

Dirt should be right-clickable to create a pathway block.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 05:20 PM PDT

Normally you have to wait for grass to spread over a dirt block or remove the dirt then place grass. This will just make terra-forming and adding paths through it. Thanks for reading.

If you mine an Ender Chest with a Fortune picaxe, it should at least have a *chance* to drop an eye of ender.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 08:20 AM PDT

It really sucks when you switch out your picaxes by mistake and don't realize it, pop into your enderchest for more fireworks, break it, and now it's gone along with all of your other fireworks, backup food, etc. It reaaaalllly sucks man. I know this is essentially motivated by this happening to me, but I think it makes sense. It's still balanced enough, you still have to craft it back, it's only a chance (perhaps 25% with Fortune I, goes up 20 with each level of Fortune), etc.

What do you think? Maybe it could be it only drops an ender pearl instead of an eye of ender so you have to pop into the nether for a bit and find some blazes to recraft instead of being able to do it right away - I'm not certain what balances OP-ness and convenience.

    Improved Caves and Minerals.

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:12 PM PDT

Caves have never really changed that much compared to other aspects of the Minecraft world, since the word Mine is actually in the game's name you'd expect it to focus a fair amount of attention on the mining portion of gameplay.

Delving into caves and ravines can be fun....to an extent, but caves are virtually all the same and never really open up into huge underground caverns or underground lakes. This needs to be improved as it has been a feature of the Minecraft world that has been ignored for years, adding wider variation to cave networks can make underground exploration more exiting and enticing, especially alongside my next suggestion.

New ores with useful and unique functionalities could add more incentive to explore these new caves, modpacks such as Tekkit and FeedTheBeast have these ores and I'm not saying Mojang should directly copy them (*cough cough* scaffolding and bees *cough cough*) but should at least draw inspiration from them.

    Some unique ores could include:

Shimmerite: An uncommon mineral that would be an overworld equivalent of glowstone, can also be used to make brighter torches and even repel undead mobs e.g. zombies and skeletons. Would spawn in small crystal clusters on cave walls and floors.

Sulphur and Saltpetre: Sulphur would spawn near lava lakes, sometimes even above ground but would obviously be dangerous to obtain and saltpetre would appear in caves near bats. Both of these components, combined with charcoal, would be used to make gunpowder.

Ingium: An uncommon mineral that could be used as a substitute for coal, lasting twice as long and can combined with TNT to make mining TNT, which would have the same blast radius as normal TNT but destroys 50% less items.

Onyx: A mineral as rare as diamond, would have same durability and mining speed for most blocks but would mine obsidian 30% faster. Onyx armour would also grant a permanent strength potion effect when worn.

Giant Roaches/Magic Roaches (The Horde Mob)

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 11:59 AM PDT

I know, I know, but just hear me out. I feel like we are missing something. What could it be? sharks? No, we are missing giant cockroaches, yes! Something to fear, get under your skin, and over whelm the player. We have silverfish, but we need something with flavor.

I think it would be cool to have big, ugly, disgusting cockroaches! You can find them in caves and other creepy places. They come in all sizes! Just like the trout.

Some of them lay eggs to replenish their disgusting horde. They plop them on nice cold spots in a caves. If the player isn't careful where they step, they could trigger the eggs to hatch. These roaches will not fight the player.

Cockroaches aren't particularly strong, but in numbers they can do damage and completely overwhelm you. They attack up to six or more at a time, and they are always laying eggs, adding to their horde. The player should take note of this and always try and fight them. Cockroaches run at you, jump at you, and even fly at you. Yes, cockroaches can fly, I'm not even kidding.

They don't like light sources, not one bit. So, place a torch down and watch them scatter back into the deepest darkest crevices known to man.

Perhaps for gags you could find and tame the Legendary Magical Roach. You could give your pet roach a name like Gary or maybe Clarence and even milk it, (I'm still figuring that one out.) But apparently people have milked roaches before, I'm not kidding, I wish I was. Maybe you could dip your weapons in the milk, and it would buff in damage. The milk could have some magical healing properties or you could make a "pulvilli potion". For those who don't know what pulvilli is, that allows insects to crawl on smooth vertical surfaces like walls and stuff. I mean think of the possibilities of a giant roach farm in Minecraft.

You may be thinking that the spider could give us that. Well, all I have to say to that, is they haven't given us their secrets yet and it's been ten years. Perhaps the roach might tell us theirs.

Let's get back to the bad roaches. If you kill a roach, it has a chance to drop roach meat, chitin, or it may replenish two hunger bars. Roach meat has magical properties. You could craft chitin into the Legendary Roach Hammer and armor. Chitin armor would probably be C tier armor. Maybe it gives you blast protection because apparently these guys can survive a nuclear blast. Speaking of nuclear blasts, it would be cool if you tried annihilating the vermin with TNT and It didn't even leave a scratch. They will inherent the Earth one day, I know it. So that's my pitch for the Giant Cockroach Mob.

Unfortunately, I couldn't post it on Minecraft Feedback because it was too long as you could guess so I made a shorter version if you like my idea give it a upvote on their and help me out I would really appreciate it and who knows we may see it in game someday!

I would love to hear everyone's feedback on it! Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day!

Bee Upgrades: Candles, Candelabras, Chandeliers With Unique Features!

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:54 AM PDT

    1. Candles!! Made of wax, Candles are of course a light source used for building, it can be extended upwards like the scaffolding block and dyed different colors. The light stays on for 3 Minecraft days and can be put out by rain and water. You can put it in a cup and pour a potion into it and the candle will radiate the effect within a 5x5 radius as long as the candle is lit ( this also lowers the candles lifespan to one day ), but that's not all! You can use the candle to make candelabras chandeliers*, and* Skull lanterns*! Candelabras and Chandeliers can be dyed themselves and even have a plant sown with them like a flower pot, This will make them a very unique light source block. Skull candle can be made with any head accessible in-game and be placed on the ground or hang for a chain and can have an extended light range by activating the skull itself. The skull candlelight last forever but just continuous gets dim and will have a light similar to the Redstone torch. All candles can be re-lit using a flint and steel, fire charge and torches, mobs like witches, illagers and villagers will also relight the candles themselves. Builders will go ecstatic for these additions and I promise that we will see scary builds like a witches towers, evil mansions, crips and etc. , we'll even see things like more lively homes, festival builds and better-built towns!*

    https://imgur.com/S8nCMqH

If you really like this Idea than support the idea on Minecraft feedback to really see it implemented, Or else it'll just die in the suggestion subreddit since Mojang can't legally get ideas from here anymore (Because of article 13)

    Jukebox

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:40 PM PDT

I've always liked the idea of jukeboxes changing the default ambient music instead of just playing the song once while needing to be near the jukebox to hear it. I think it could help justify the cost of using a diamond to create it. Also, possibly add a UI to it so that you can insert up to 3 music discs to cycle music from instead of repeating the same one.

Then we could listen to these cool tracks while on a caving adventure.

A replay function for hardcore worlds.

    Posted: 30 Aug 2019 04:00 PM PDT

For death by environment, a 10-second clip. For death by mob, a clip that lasts from the mob's spawning time to the player's death time.

The clip isn't really a clip, it's more like the replay function from Team Fortress 2. Except in this case, the world in the replay is very small and contains only the chunks loaded in by the player at the time. This is to avoid duplicating the world and hogging unnecessary storage space.

This replay function will allow players to understand mysterious deaths to prevent them from happening again. It's sometimes hard to tell how exactly a player dies.

    Reptiles?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 05:24 AM PDT

I was walking though a forest biome the other day thinking there should be a few other mobs that can make it a bit harder to survive in the world.

We've been given turtles which I was happy about. But what about these?

Snakes: Different types if snakes, They could be in trees and drop down on you or even going though tall grass making it hard to see and maybe bite as you walk though the grass, forcing you to brake the grass to be able to see it more clearly, Desert snakes could also be a thing blending into the sand also making it hard to see, Even make some snakes spit poison. 🐍

Lizards: All different types of lizards, I would make these more of a friendly mob, catching it and keeping a lizard as a pet would be cool, you'd be able to find them crawling on tree or roaming the forest or desert. 🦎

Crocodiles, I think crocodiles in swamps would be an amazing idea have some floating about in the water blending in with the pods and some lying on the edges of the water getting ready to jump in as you go passed. 🐊 Even a few frogs chilling on the pod in the swamps to 🐸

Not a reptile but Penguins and seals to add more to snow biome would also be a great addition to the minecraft world I love penguins so having them would be great 🐧

Big Bad Bayou Update (Pt. 1)

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:21 PM PDT

I had an idea for a large update called The Big Bad Bayou Update for swamps, including a new biome, new plants, new mobs and even a mini boss monster. I will first post my ideas for the new biome and new plants and blocks found in swamps and the new biome. Depending on the feedback I get on this, I will post the new mobs in the second part. I will be honest, this post will have A LOT of content but it will all be related to the swamps.

    New Biome: Mega Swamp/Bayou

The mega swamp/bayou will be a variant of regular swamp like the mega taiga forest is a variant of the regular taiga forest, special plants and blocks will be found here only. Mega swamps/bayous will be far larger than regular swamps.

    New swamp plants:

    Water Lily (Swamp and Bayou)

A new flower that can spawn in swamps and Bayous only. They can spawn on tops of lily pads. Using bonemeal on a regular lilypad will cause it to bloom a water lily that will be white, yellow or pink. If the lilypad is broken after making it bloom, the block will no longer be a regular lilypad and will now be a white/yellow/pink water lily. Water lilies will spawn much more frequently in mega swamps. It can be crafted into 2 dye that corresponds with the flower's color.

    Cattail (Swamp and Bayou)

A new decorative plant that grows only in swamps and mega swamps. It spawns on dirt blocks 1 block below sea level. The bottom half is under water, the top half is above the water at sea level. Cattails can be broken and moved but can only be placed on dirt blocks 1 block below the surface like how they spawn. They can be crafted into 2 brown dye. If using bonemeal on a cattail, it will drop another copy of itself.

    Swamp Brush (Swamp and Bayou)

A new decorative plant that grows in swamps and Bayous. Like with cattails, they only spawn on dirt blocks that are 1 block below sea level. They can grow up to 3 blocks in height, the bottom being underwater and the second and third part being above water. They can be collected using sheers and can only be placed on dirt blocks that are 1 block below sea level.

    Hanging Moss (Swamp and Bayou)

A vine-like plant based off of spanish moss that hangs from tree leaves and logs in swamps and bayous. Hanging moss can come in 3 colors, Dark green, regular green, and greenish-brown. Unlike vines that will grow continuously until it hits another block, hanging moss will only grow as long as 3 blocks. They can be collected using sheers.

    Cypress Tree (Bayou only)

A special tree that only grows in Bayous The Cypress Tree is ENORMOUS and made of oak logs. These trees can grow to huge heights with large trunks. They grow only in water. The bottom portion of the tree is made of oak bark blocks to make it look like it has roots embedded deep into the swamp water soil. This can be an excellent source of oak wood. I'm not entirely sure how you could replant cypress trees since saplings cannot be placed in water, this could be a new special mechanic of the swamp, allowing oak saplings to be planted on blocks underwater.

    Willow Tree (Swamp and Bayou)

A new tree that grows in swamps and bayous only. The tree leave block patterns consist of long lines in different shades of green that hang down sort of like vines. I'm not quite sure how different willow wood will look. Perhaps it could be a jungle wood or oak wood color with green patches of moss or algae?

Cypress Stumps and Fallen Cypress trees (Bayou only)

Cypress stumps and fallen cypress trees are new will spawn in bayou biomes. They will be fairly rare so as not to litter the biome. Cypress stumps and fallen cypress trees will typically spawn next to each other.

    Mud Block (Swamp and Bayou)

The mud block will be a new block found in swamps and bayous. It's texture is a rich chocolate brown with wavy lines. They spawn underwater and sometimes at sea level. They will act like soul sand and will slow down mobs that walk over it. Mud can be cooked in a furnace or left out to dry to be turned into Dry Mud Block. Mud blocks will stay wet as long as they are close enough to a water source like farmland. If standing on a mud block underwater, it can drag mobs down into it, causing them to be stuck under water.

    New Biome Mechanics

Fog (Swamp and Bayou) When in a swamp or bayou at early morning or sunset, the render distance will be cut by half, giving the feel of thick, mucky, soupy, humid swamp fog.

Ground Fog (Swamp and Bayou) Ground fog will cover the ground and water at sea level as an aesthetic design. It will look a bit like clouds only with a wavy texture.

Thats the end of part 1. What do you all think? Do you like or absolutely HATE these ideas? Do you have any ideas on what cypress wood or willow wood could look like? Could mud be used for something different? Do you have any ideas for new swamp plants? (HELPFUL) Feedback is always welcome.

    raise cloud height

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:13 AM PDT

Clouds are super low and it can be really annoying. I think it would make alot of improvements to move them up to probably about 16 or 32 blocks beneath build height. This way they could add some dramatic effect to tall builds to show they reach above the coulds or this could be cool for high mountains. I think that if this werent done then they should be moved above build height so they dont get in the way. There could even be a command or a slider in settings to decide where you want them.
