Minecraft Server Pillager Raid Protection - Totem of Seeing

Minecraft Server Pillager Raid Protection - Totem of Seeing

Server Pillager Raid Protection - Totem of Seeing

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 05:24 AM PST

This is an idea I've already implemented on the server I administrate, but to summarize the concept:

With 1.14, we have Pillager raids. You can disable these raids, or have them enabled, which is fine-- for single-player worlds, or multi-player worlds with a small enough group to reach a consensus. However, when you have a large group of players with mixed feelings, it can be quite a pain to have a village you've set up, and then have some random player walk in & initiate a raid, or to be a player who wants to use the raid mechanic and have it be entirely disabled.

To fix this, I propose the Totem of Seeing. This item is inspired by the Hamsa / Hand of Miriam / Hand of Fatima, which is a symbol in various cultures to ward off the Evil Eye. Put simply, it isn't a proactive measure, it's a passive ward against bad omens.

The in-game implementation would effectively be that whenever any player with the Bad Omen status effect walks within a certain radius (I have mine set to 200) of the Totem, or anything holding the Totem (including armour stands and item frames), they lose the Bad Omen effect. The Totem could have durability, losing 1 point every time Bad Omen is removed. The Totem is created by surrounding a Totem of Undying with 4 Lapis Lazuli.

Here is the crafting recipe and texture.

For those interested, the command I run for this on the server I'm on is: /execute at @e[type=item_frame,nbt={Item:{id:"minecraft:totem_of_undying",tag:{CustomModelData:1}}}] as @e[type=player,distance=..200,nbt={ActiveEffects:[{Id:31b}]}] run effect clear @s minecraft:bad_omen . To implement it yourself, all you need is to create some way for players to obtain minecraft:totem_of_undying{CustomModelData:1}, and to run the aforementioned command through either your tick-tagged function file or a repeating command block in spawn (or otherwise always-loaded) chunks.

    Physical buckets

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 09:27 AM PST

I was reading this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/comments/dtat34/two_words_wooden_buckets/ when I had an idea:
Buckets should be pysically placeable as a block. They would be aesthetically nice but also have their function as well.
How they could work? Simple. When I craft a bucket (three iron ingots) I will see it in my inventory as usual.
Wooden buckets can be crafted with two wooden slabs (any wood) and an iron ingot (this means six different wooden buckets).
If I have a bucket in my hands, right click on a water/lava block will fill it, as usual, and if I right-click it on another block it will place its liquid content on that, as usual, but emptying the bucket.
By shift-right-click on a block, however, it will place the bucket there, as a block, similar to the composter block, but with a narrower base, let's say 12x12 at bottom, 16x16 at top. This is to differentiate it from the composter and to remark the fact that buckets are not stackable. They also fall down, as the sand block, if the block underneath is destroyed.
The bucket-block will have three different states: empty, full of water, full of lava (emitting light at night).
Right-click on it, with a bare hand, will pick it up.
    PROs
    1. Aesthetic purpose. I can decorate buildings with water buckets, for example in a stable, or inside a fence with animals.
    2. Allows to store liquids around your village, instead of inside chests.
    3. Open the road to more liquid-style materials (milk from the cows, poison from mobs, blood)
    CONs
    1. I cannot think of any CON.

New Use for Smithing Table: Reforging weapons to have a new look.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 12:22 PM PST

The Smithing Table is currently useless, and I propose a new idea: the "Reforge" mechanic. The reforge mechanic is a cosmetic way to customize your weapons into something more for the player's liking, and add a lot more variety for players and mapmakers. Each tool would have a set of cosmetic textures they can be 'reforged' into. I have put example images of what they could look like, and what possible options there could be. These are purely cosmetic options that allow for more variety and customizablity, and are not available in the creative menu (to prevent clutter). I added example images I found of what these textures could look like. Credit to the weapons plus pack for the inspiration. (https://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/weaponsplus/)

Shear a cactus to get Cactus thorns.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 03:59 PM PST

Simple, you can shear a cactus and get Cactus thorns. You can use these thorns for armor, traps, enchantments, and of course weapons. Maybe Prickly armor where It is not as good as thorns as over time instead of the armor breaking the thorns break instead leaving normal armor, possibly using it to increase weapon damage but decrease durability. You could craft the thorns enchantment with a book surrounded by thorns and gold. You could possibly even make a thorn trap where it is like a spike pit. (I think I flaired this right, but this is my first post here so please tell me if I need to correct it.)

Goats as a mountain-specialized mounts. [Long post with pictures included]

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 12:53 PM PST

Being able to ride goats has probably been suggested already, but here's my take on this (with nice pictures included!):

If they end up being ridable, goats could be a great alternative to horses when exploring through mountains, without completely replace them as a transportation method. This is all the abilities and stats that would make these guys special:

    Goat's leap

Goats would have the same speed as a donkey (7,5 blocks/sec) and their jump strength would range between 3 and 6 blocks.

However, there would be a big difference in the jumping ability between goats and horses: when ridden, goats would be able to jump without having to hold down the spacebar to charge the leap.

That means that, despite having similar "jumping" stadistics, goats would be more handy than horses when going through hilly terrain since you'd only need to spam the spacebar in order to climb a mountain quickly.

    Climbing ability

We don't know yet how the updated mountain biome will look at the end, but if we asume that we will face steep hills and sharp terrain, goats would be needed of an ability to cross abrupt paths.

Goats in real life can casually walk on almost vertical cliff walls, so why not in minecraft too?

When riding a goat, the xp bar would turn into a "stamina indicator" instead of the usual "jump charger" that we see while riding horses. If you hold Ctrl + Space when standing next to a wall, the goat would stick itself to it, and you will be able to slowly sneak across the wall to the other side, without having to build a bridge over the void (picture below).

Once the goat starts moving through the wall, the stamina bar will start decreasing, and if it is completely consumed before the goat reaches to stand on top of a solid block, you will both fall down.

This ability allows you to move forward and backwards over air blocks (as long as you keep attached to the wall) on the same Y level where you started. When doing this, the goat's speed will drop to 3 blocks/second.

Here's a picture to visualize the idea better: https://imgur.com/a/BkSed8D

Goats would be able to make one single jump while climbing, which means that you would be able to double jump if you keep attached to a wall. However, the stamina bar will instantly drop to 0 if you do so.

    Another picture: https://imgur.com/a/rNVI1Fm

When climbing, the goat will stick its legs to the wall: https://imgur.com/a/xJ1I84Q

Wild goats will not be able to use this ability, in the same way that untamed horses cannot jump more than 1 block despite being able to do so.

Note: The Ctrl + Space was the first shortcut I could think of, maybe someone can think of a more practical one?

Another note: If it feels too op, it could be restricted by making the ability only possible when the wall is made with common "natural" blocks (snow, stone variants, dirt, grass, gravel, sandstone, terracotta...) and they will not be able to climb on "artificial" blocks (wooden planks, quarz, glazed terracota, glass, slime blocks, honey blocks, etc).

    Charge attack

If you hold down Ctrl while riding a goat and ram a mob, it will deal half a heart of damage and cause a strong knockback effect to it, so you could knock off your enemies down the sharp cliffs. However, the goat will stop immediately after the hit, losing all the momentum of the sprint.

If you attack them first, untammed goats would have a chance to trigger this attack against you.

    Other values:

Just a few details to end this post.

-They would drop 1-2 mutton when killed as well as 1-3 xp orbs.

-They can be milked if you use an empty bucket on them.

-Goats would have 10 health points (five hearts)

    -Speed of 7,5 blocks/sec

-Since they will spawn in mountains, they should have a high resistance to falling damage or even be completely immune to it, like cats and iron golems (players riding them would not adquire their resistance).

The next values would change among individuals and, when breeding, they would be determined by averaging both parent's stats:

-The stamina bar would take about 5-12 seconds to drop to 0.

    -Jump strenght: 3-6 blocks high.

-The taming process of a goat would be the same as the horse's one, and they would obviously need to be equipped with a saddle in order to be ridden.

Aaaaand that's all! Thanks for reading it! (My english is far from perfect, so sorry if I made some grammar mistakes here and there).

    Cave Biome

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 02:05 PM PST

Currently, caves are boring and they all looks the same. With biomes, it would be a little bit better. A lot of things could be different from a biome to another (the stones used, the generation of the mines, the ores...) some examples :

    • Andesite, Granite and Diorite biomes. Normal caves but with these rocks instead of stone.

    • Lava biome. There is a lot of obsidian, lava, magma blocks, maybe with basalt as the main stone. There is more emerald and diamond here. The caves would be narrower in this biome.

    • Flood biome. A biome were there is constantly 1 block of water above the ground.

    • Magic biome. There would be some mushrooms. There would be some slimes that spawn in this biome. There would be more lapis lazuli and redstone ore here. All redstone ore would be constantly produce light.

    • Ice biome. A biome with ice and snow.

    • green caves biomes. A biome with leaves, a little bit of wood, mossy stones and vines.

The transition between two biomes that uses two different stones should be progressive.

    A use for Wet Sponges

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 07:14 AM PST

Sponges are great blocks, really unique in what they do and balanced in how hard they are to get. Wet Sponges, on the other hand, have no use in the game. Looking at Sponges uses IRL, there's something that might be a nice addition to he game: allow all crops to be planted on a Wet Sponge. This would have uses in many micro farms (that are already OP anyway), making them "hydroponic micro farms", and may be used to make watersource-free farms for whatever reason like decoration. Considering it just saves a 2% area, is nothing OP in my opinion. Sponges are pretty rare and no renewable, and I think is a plus them drying out in the Nether to not make them OP in that dimension as well

    Color filter options

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 03:10 AM PST

Players should be able to change the tone of the in-game colors to fit their liking/needs. This would be done in settings. Below are some options that players could choose from.

Faded: The colors are a bit more dull. Less contrast.

    Normal: What we have now.

Vibrant: Colors are more colorful and have more contrast.

Blue light filter: Filters out blue light to make the game easier on your eyes.

Color correction: There would be a variety of different options for color correction. It would change the colors to help people with color blindness.

Note: This would not have any effect on gameplay.

A fitting Totem: Totem of Runes

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 03:10 PM PST

This totem can only be dropped by the Evoker and Illusioner to up their worth as mobs.

This totem, when held, can act as a few things.

    1) If you are enchanting, you will receive a boost as if you had 2 more bookshelves. Does not stack, if you found a way to.

    2) When repairing or enchanting items, use 10% less experience.

If you right click it, you "Energize" it. It will have better boosts, but will be consumed.

    1) If you are enchanting, you will receive a boost as if you had 4 more bookshelves. Consumes on use.

    2) When repairing, use 50% less experience. Consumes on use.

    3) If you left click, you will do a last resort and consume all XP to knock back enemies, 1 block knocked per 1 XP level.

It might be a good idea to not post to the feedback site for a while.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 09:22 AM PST

Just a heads up because from what I can tell there hasn't been a formal announcement about it yet, but the feedback site is losing suggestions right now. I posted one of mine a while back, and it just... disappeared. I emailed their support team about it, and it took about 2 weeks for them to get back to me, but the message that was sent to me was:

    " Hey there,

The feedback site is currently being renovated so things may be missing for a while. Sorry about that!

Let me know if you have any other questions. "

So like, just a heads up, if you post something to the feedback site, it might just kind of disappear. No word on whether the posts are gone for good, or if they'll be up when the site is renovated. At the very least, make sure to save the text for your post somewhere else.

A command block or datapack flair.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 12:50 PM PST

It would be nice to have a command block or datapack flair to show that you know how to use them. Maybe even a resource pack flair.

Command block would just be a regular impulse command block.

Datapack would be a folder 📂, maybe pixellated.

Resource pack would be a few pencils and paintbrushes sticking out of a folder, all pixellated.

    Ankhs in Minecraft

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 01:28 PM PST

An Ankh is an egyptian symbol for life. The item would work like a potion of harming, dealing a constant 50% of anything's health upon punching a mob or player, with splash damage extending to all mobs off the same type or animals that are tamed to the player, or potion of healing for a constant 50% upon right clicking. The Ankh would not be usable again until it receives an XP alternative that matches the damage dealt

For instance, an Ankh might deal 50% damage to a zombie you punch but and 4 others in the horde, and might take 6 levels of XP to heal it back. But if you deal that to a wither, you might have to sacrifice 80 levels to repair the Ankh

Ankhs can be repaired by either holding it while collecting XP, or directly placing valuable ores with it in an anvil. This will give a small discount on XP required based on the amount of ore given, potentially lowering the repair cost by maybe 30%

Most of the time the Ankh is not worth it to use but it can be an invaluable item. Imagine playing hardcore and getting trapped in a spawner, 50% damage to all nearby skeletons for instance might save your life. Especially if you already damaged a number of them effectively allowing you to finish off most skeletons immediately

    Obtaining

An Ankh would be wielded by a 3 block tall Husk that sometimes spawns outside of a pyramid, the Husk would have 100 health and inflict various potion effects upon damaging it. Additionally it can spawn Husks behind you.

It has a large chance to disappear before being killed, and even then it's a very rare drop. Like wither skull type rare partnered with only being acquired by a mob that rarely spawns on a rare pyramid

In my mind it would be more rare than shulkers, elytras, etc. if this balancing remained true

    Two words. Wooden. Buckets.

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 09:30 PM PST

Everyone loves buckets for a variety of reasons but they can be hard to get if you're unlucky. My suggestion is being able to make wooden buckets. They'll only be good for water and would rot/break over use. If used on lava they would burn up and disappear. I would say they can also be placed similar to barrels or cauldrons but hold less.

    Ancient desert temples

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 12:50 PM PST

Bigger, more dangerous, and about as rare as an ocean monument (In fact, it's basically a desert monument in a way, I suppose), it will offer a challenge to not only find but to successfully loot. There will be a new monster exclusive to these structures, in reality this is more about the mob, but it's going to be a little too much of a threat for the overworld to regularly get.

Ancient desert temples are very large, probably 3 times as long, 3 times as tall, and 3 times as wide. They'd have some hallways that might have a chest here and there, nothing too good though. Ancient desert temples, instead of dropping down to a pit, there's a small indent in a center chamber, maybe no more than 9 by 9 blocks, and in this space is 11-15 loot chests, definitely a nice reward. The thing as a whole, for the most part is pretty similar in concept to a regular desert temple. Above the indent (by indent, it's really just a square with one layer of stairs to it) is a hole leading upwards, about 30 blocks. You'll see a tower on the outside of the structure, which is simply the 30 block high chamber I mentioned. It will resemble a pyramid with a tower and multiple 2 block wide by 2 block tall entrances.

In that chamber hanging over you, is a giant golden colored spider that'll be a serious pain. It is known as the Behemoth Spider. It is 6 blocks wide, 6 blocks long, and 3 blocks tall. Which is the same ratio of size to a regular spider, if you're curious this is about the size of 27 regular spiders, as it is 9 each layer. This size restricts it from getting out of the ancient desert temple.

It will wait up above, and when you reach the chests, it will descend downward. If you're quick, you may step back and fight it on your terms. Its bite will give you levitation to simulate being dragged upward (if it could actually drag you up, I think that'd be better, but I'm not sure how easy that'd be to do). When floating all the way up, the spider jumps back into the hole it dropped from and begins heading for you. You'll get stuck in some webs when you finally reach the top, so you're not floating away.

The behemoth spider will have 60 hearts, which is basically as durable as a villager plus an iron golem. It is also immune to fall damage.

Attack strength varies from 3 hearts on easy, 4.5 hearts on normal, and 6 hearts on hard mode.

Due to very thick chitin (the exoskeleton of the behemoth spider) it is nearly impervious to ranged weapons. Bows do no damage, but for each level of piercing on a crossbow, is the heart damage it will do. Piercing maxes out at 4, so you can do 4 hearts of damage to it if you have that on a crossbow. Tridents do 2 hearts of damage per hit, but impaling or channeling enchantments apply if you lure it underwater or into a thunderstorm, respectively. You could let this thing out if you really wanted to.. I don't recommend it though. You should not fight this without a bang of arthropods sword and some feather falling 4 boots.

The behemoth spider drops a new potion ingredient called Behemoth Legs (I don't have a creative name for it yet) to create a potion (which also is not named yet) that allows you to climb surfaces like a spider and halves your fall damage for 30 seconds. With redstone it can be made to last for 45 seconds, and with glowstone, you get speed 2 that also applies to climbing, but to balance it, it only lasts 15 seconds.

Feedback for the structure itself or the mob would be nice, I will get back to you as soon as I'm able.

    Backpack idea

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 07:14 AM PST

As a heads up to any moderators, I know these are on the FPS list, but I feel like I have a more unique idea than usual. I completely understand if you remove this though.

So, my idea is for a backpack, called a satchel in game. You would craft it with a U shape of leather (5 total) with 3 string across the top, leaving the middle open.

Heres the kicker: it only holds one item. However, you can equip it to your chest plate. So, similar to an elytra, you sacrifice an armor slot for just one more spot in your inventory. To open it, you would hold it in you hand, and then left click/left trigger/hit the prompt onscreen depending on what device you are on. So, you would have to take it off to use it, just like a real backpack.

Let me know what you think. I see this as a early game shulker box, that is acutally balanced. If you disagree, I'd love to discuss it with you.

u/demonater5 said it should be able to be put in the offhand slot, so that will also be a feature of this, even though I'm pretty sure that's something that would only pertain to bedrock edition.

New bosses! New goodies! New Challenge!

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 04:32 AM PST

So... We always had 2 bosses in minecraft ( Ender dragon & wither, with elder Guardian even 3), but there's such a lack in it, no overworld only bosses! Where's the challenge? Ender dragon is easy even on hard, same with wither. That's gonna be a list, but enjoy reading it! I sure it will make you think it's good! Okay let's go:

    1. Gigager - the illager boss, it's 4 block tall and 3 wide, but it can destroy every block in his way, even obsidian (he only can't destroy bedrock, barrier, command block and other quite impossible to break). He is really tough, over 1500 hp with 50% resistance to aby damage. He goes very rarely on raids, the chance is something around 5%, he also appears in open caves near pillager stations but with the same rarity. He may be very destructive, but he drops one special item, totem of strenght, it doesn't activate like undying totem, but you can use it with just a right click. For 10 minutes you become bulk 2 blocks wide and 3 tall, with 25% resistance and you have more hearts (times two of your health).

    2. Necromant - has 0.5% chance appearing at night (only hard, normal and easy is impossible to get him) and have a little higher chance appearing near graveyards - new structure, oftenly 50 blocks away from villages, sometimes you can find clerics her, but that's a rare thing to find him here. Only 2% to get him at graveyard. He spawn after every 6 seconds 2 skeletons and 3 zombies. He will dissapear when not attacked, he also can't be renamed to avoid auto farms. He Has 200 hp, he mostly drops bones, more rarely skulls and the most rare thing is staff of the undead, with 0.5% chance of appearing, it can do two things, saves you from death sacrifising itself or turn sides of nearest zombies and skeletons when you right click it (the range is 15 blocks away), you can befriend only 8 mobs at time, it Has only 80 uses to befriend mobs. The Staff doesn't work if there isn't any mobs around, however it works when there's only one

    3. The siren - You Heard tales about mermaids etc. But truly they were nad monsters. They work underwater with drowned, they have very high chance to appear, i would call this as miniboss, it Has 125 hp, on surface after 10 seconds it take damage and they are pretty fast on water, they drop special item that makes you swim faster. That's it. (I didn't had very much ideas about it, but guys, i don't feel very well today, just something bad happened, but don't change your mood, i have written that post to make you interested and even kinda happy. C'ya!)

Bee's And Their Interaction With Other Mobs

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 09:19 AM PST

In this post i will be discussing ways that bee's can further interact with minecrafy mobs Horses, Cows, Sheep, Llama's and Donkey's

Luckily, bees have very little interest in livestock, mostly because livestock eat all the good stuff anyway. The only time to be concerned about your hive harming your cattle is if they become the misdirected target of your bees' aggression. For example, if a player visits and destroys your hive, your bees may not realize who the real culprit is. If you have livestock nearby, they may take their anger out on your horse/donkey/llama/Sheep/Cow.

    Protecting Bee's And Livestock

You can also preemptively ward off stinging insects with End Rods to protect both your livestock and your bees.

    Chickens

Bees and chickens coexist surprisingly well, as long as chickens do not pursue the liquid gold and honeycomb inside the hive. If your chickens do get a little gutsy and overstep their boundaries (In peaceful = nothing, easy = 1 block radius, normal = 2 block radius, hard = 3 block radius ) the bee's will go aggro and attack the chickens. Other than that, your chickens don't pay much attention to your bees, and vice versa.

    Safety Tips
    1. Don't Confine Pets Near Bees The worst thing you can do is leave Dogs/Cats exposed to the possibility of an aggressive bee attack. Remember, bees may not know who disturbed them, and a dog/cat stuck on a lead is a sitting duck. 1.5. The same goes for cattle and chickens. If you have limited space, try your best to keep bees in an area that has low traffic and is far from your fenced animals. Keep the Area well lit up so that mobs do not have the chance to agro the bee's If your pets cannot escape an aggressive attack (due to you messing with bees), they may end up trapped in a painful situation. (which is sad for everyone) 2. Fence Your Beehive: If you have chickens, fencing in your hive may be a suitable option. It doesn't hurt to employ fencing to keep your bees safe, to begin with. A barrier to prevent curious critters from entering the "danger zone" will go a long way to keep everyone safe.

    Jewler Villager

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 04:39 AM PST

A villager that can trade emerald for different resources, or vice versa. The items given can scale by trades. It can also be called a banker. It would essentially allow for emeralds to have an exact price compared to other resources like gold or diamond.

    Terracotta bricks and concrete bricks.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 03:36 PM PST

Alot of people want colored slabs/stairs in the game, so I thought these bricks could be a good way to incorporate that while also adding some new building blocks

Terracotta bricks would be made by using 4 terracotta blocks in a crafting table. These could be made from any color of terracotta and they would be small bricks simalar to normal brick blocks and nether brick blocks.

Concrete bricks would be made the same way except with concrete and would be brighter. They would have larger bricks as their texture simalar to stone brick or end stone brick, and they obviously would come in all 16 colors aswell.

Let me know what you think, I've posted this idea to the feedback website if you like it!

    Different iron golems

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 04:55 AM PST

It felt sort of strange why the player made iron golem looks like a villager, with the big nose and that, but if they were to make a snow golem, where are their large noses?

So why not have a different looking iron golem then the villager made one? They'll act the same, but now we can identify what golem said we can punch without it fighting back.
