Players should be able to mount/sit on horizontal logs

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 02:27 PM PST

Mojang has stated in the past that they will not add items such as chairs because it limits creativity and would be too modern. If players could sit on logs, it wouldn't cause players to stop looking for ways to make cool chairs, like adding a regular chair would. It would also fit an older style, which would fit well into minecraft. It's a simple change that would make the game more enjoyable, especially if you have a campfire in front of your log.

New crossbow enchantment - Dead Eye

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 05:13 AM PST

I feel like right now crossbow is useless, has wasted potential and get overpowered by bow. A bow with power 5 and infinity DESTROYS a crossbow with quick charge and piercing/multishot, not even talk about the fact that bow has flame and punch. The crossbow is supposed to be the more powerful, sniper weapon, while the bow is supposed to be weaker, but more handful for mid-range attack if you don't want to approach the enemy, but it's obviously not what happens as the bow is far more superior in both situations, because in ammo and power it's better, and the differences in range are not that big.

Here is one enchantment that will fix this problem, Dead Eye. Dead Eye is an enchantment for crossbow, has max level of 5 and weight of 10. Like Power, it increases arrow damage by 25% × (level + 1), rounded up to nearest half-heart. Also, it increases the crossbow accuracy each level, causing it to shoot farther. Dead Eye and Quick Charge are mutually exclusive. This way, you can make your crossbow perfect for sniping, dealing slightly more damage then a bow with Power 5 and shooting farther, without being too overpowered. Great for solo world and all kindes of servers.

Thanks for reading, please tell me what do you think.

    New command: /setinsomnia

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 02:43 PM PST

This command would have a format like this:

    /setinsomnia <player> <value>

Basically, doing this command would set how long it has been since the given player had slept or died, with 3 being long enough to spawn phantoms. I would want a command like this because when designing a phantom farm, it is really annoying to have to wait for a few hours to get natural phantom spawns, if I could set my insomnia very high and basically guaruntee a phantom spawn for testing purposes, that would be great. (Spawning in phantoms manually doesn't work because I want to know if I have built it for possible phantom spawning conditions)

    Datapack menu in Java Edition

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 08:34 AM PST

Datapacks aren't really intuitive because you need to go into your world files and find the .minecraft folder. It would be great to have a menu in world creation and world options to choose which datapacks you want to add to a world, similar to the resource packs menu.

    Single houses

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 10:54 AM PST

This is a village house but without a village. These can both be found normal with a villager or two or in ruins with only some chests. These houses would be more common than villages and can be found in almost any biomes looking different depending on the biome. The villagers inside is like all villagers combined and do very random trades.

    A few more Endemic Mobs

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 06:05 AM PST

Minecraft can use some more biome-specific wildlife, not just monsters. Currently, the only exclusively endemic animals are wolves, ocelots, polar bears, and horses/donkeys.

Flare [Uncommon] - A fish mob that lives in the lava seas of the Nether. They surface only when shores of soul sand are nearby. They are only aggressive a few seconds after surfacing and will projectile burn charges like a Blaze. Burn charges are similar to fire charges but has higher knockback and gives the Sear effect, where fire attacks hurt x1.5 as much. They do not set the player on fire, but deal little damage upon impact.

Flares will take damage when on any other block in the Nether except for Magma Blocks and Soul Sand due to them not being hot enough. Flares have phases, where cracks of lava are seen through their skin. The more time they spend off of lava, the more the lava wanes, and if they have no more lava glowing, they begin to rapidly take damage.

Fulgur [Rare] - A flying bird mob that only appears during rainy weather in the plains. It is aggressive and will chase the player when in sight. Fulgurs will use electricity to take you down. Each electric attack from Fulgur gives you Shock effect for 5 seconds, which shows you the hurt animation but without damage. They swoop down like Phantoms but faster for their normal attacks.

Also, the presence of a Fulgur will be recognized by thundering, regardless of it storming or not, around a certain position. This can be used for charged creeper farming more easily. They are rare enough that you only see one every few rainy seasons. They have higher spawn rates during storms.

Jawtrap [Common] - A plant-like mob as tall as a carpet but the width of one block. It lays on the ground with its mouth open, ready to consume any prey alive. If the player steps on it, they have to be sprinting otherwise they are already trapped. To release from its grasp, LSHIFT must be rapidly pressed until it releases you. It spawns on grass blocks in the Jungle (1 in every ~25 block radius). Getting within a 5 block radius of a Jawtrap gives you the Entice effect for 5 seconds. This automatically moves you to the closest hostile mob within a 20 block radius (usually the Jawtrap).

They despawn when the chunk is unloaded (since they can't move). They lock their jaws after biting and will not open until a quarter of a day has passed. They cannot be attacked with closed jaws.

Snowshell [Uncommon] - A beetle insect that wanders the through the cold. It is found in any cold biome that snows. It is neutral and only attacks when the player hits it. They shoot iceballs that give Slowness for 15 seconds and hurt 2 and a half hearts. Snowshells can also fly for a short period, up to 7 blocks high. They drop Iceballs which are hurtful snowballs, but minus the Slowness effect. They are also resistant to any form of damage (all damage is halved, but fire is doubled), and it has as much health as an Iron Golem.

Snowshells appear more often during the snow, but do not spawn during snowstorms. Snowshells occasionally consume snow (like how sheep consume grass) and by doing so it removes a layer of layered snow. This also heals it from any previous damage.

    Fish Bowls

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 08:46 AM PST

Crafted with 3 glass panes placed in the pattern below:

    [E] [E] [E]

    [G] [E][G]

    [E] [G] [E]

where [E] is empty, and [G] is a glass pane.

Fish bowls can contain one single fish in them. The sprite of the fish is shrunk to fit in the bowl and swim comfortably. Their properties are identical to potted plants otherwise.

I'm not sure, but I think it would be a good idea to let these have a propert similar to chests in that placing 2 of them next to each other creates a larger unit.

In some ways, this is a sequel to my post on bio-luminescent fish. Placing these fish in a fish bowl allows it to act as a light source.

    Thanks for reading :)

Charcoal should be cartable into black dye.

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 03:09 PM PST

It's just that really, Charcoal should produce one black dye when put into the crafting menu. I've been thinking of this for a while but it is really annoying to go out and kill squids whenever black dye is needed and I feel as though this would help a lot.

    Jack-in-the-Box (New Dungeon Loot)

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 02:45 PM PST

Basically there'd be a small percentage that a Jack-in-the-Box would spawn in place of a Dungeon's chest.

These blocks would resemble an antique box with a crank on the side. You right click to turn the crank, producing a different note each time, which all contribute to a melody. Similar to the Note Block, the block underneath affects the sound output.

At the end of the melody, the box flips open and a mob head pops out on a spring. The player then right-clicks to close, or sneaks and right-clicks to grab the mob head.

Right-clicking on an empty Jack-in-the-Box with a mob head would place the head inside. This could likewise work with helmets as a novel alternative to armor stands.

They would include Creeper heads, Zombie heads, Skeleton heads, but not Wither Skeleton skulls (unless you place one inside yourself).

Like a Shulker Box, you can pick up a closed Jack-in-the-Box without losing the displayed item. Breaking the block while it's open will spill its contents.

If there's any worries this would make mob heads too common, the rarity of these boxes can always be adjusted. If the boxes become rare collector's items, I'm fine with it. A

I was also thinking baby Villagers might interact with them, but if you think the irritation caused by Villagers interacting with your stuff outweighs any immersive effects, let me know.

    Vote on the Feedback Site

Note: I posted this before, but it was on New Year's and nobody had any positive or negative feedback, so maybe it was a bad time, so I took it down, hope reposting now is okay. I made some changes anyway.

    Totems

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:37 PM PST

A big idea I have for the game totems. The totems would be made by stacking individual totem pieces on top of each other. The pieces would resemble very various animals in Minecraft. The totem pieces would also create a area effect or unlock a ability for their corresponding animal if it's nearby. If the animal leaves the area the effect or ability would end in I'm thinking about 30 seconds to 2 minutes. What your totem does should also be something the player decides. This would make the totem pieces similar to the Beacon, but for animals. Selecting one totem pieces also has you select the totem pieces above or below it. The totem pieces would be made with Stripped Wood and probably something(s) related to the totem pieces corresponding animal. Below are just some simple ideas I think the totems could do and for which animal:

    General:

    Chickens:

    • Throws eggs at hostile mobs.

    • Occasionally drops feathers.

    Dogs:

    • Nearby wolves will treat the dog as if it were another wolf, attacking it's attackers and joining it in its attacks.

    • Sometimes dig things up; like bones, sticks, emeralds, string, etc.

    Parrots:

    • Will retrieve fired arrows.

    • Will harasse and confuse ranged mobs.

    • Occasionally drops feathers.

    Cats:

    • Attacks Creepers.

    • Turns Charged Creepers back into their regular counterparts.

    Bees:

    • Continues to work during the night and rain.

    • Will not die after attacking (And keeps it's stinger.) and will protect a type of mob of your choosing (You, villagers, golems, dogs, etc.).

    Raccoons

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 02:01 AM PST

(I've got a few drafts for Birch Forest-related mobs that I would like to share here. However, as I don't really feel keen on brainstorming threads, I will be posting each mob one at a time, over the course of the next few days)

Raccoons are a neutral mob that spawns in Birch Forests, as well as Wooded Badlands Plateau. They spawn in groups of 1-4, and can be found in the usual greyish brown color, as well as rarer white black and blonde/cinnamon variants. They will normally keep their distance from a player unless food is dropped nearby. If they sense a dropped food item, they will rush over to it and eat it, destroying the item in the process.

Raccoons are technically tameable when directly hand fed, and a tamed raccoon will not flee from a player. However, the act of taming one causes problems. They raccoon will begin to constantly follow a player at a distance, and as it is still technically wild it can't be told to sit. On top of that, each time a player goes to be with a tamed raccoon nearby, one extra tamed raccoon will appear the next morning. This will continue until a literal horde of raccoons is tailing the player, making it nearly impossible to obtain food drops. Here's the worst part: As said previously, raccoons are technically a neutral mob. If a player harms a raccoon, the raccoon will rush the player and attack them for a few seconds, before breaking its tameness and fleeing the player. When there is a literal gang of raccoons at your feet, attacking them would be a seriously bad idea. The thing is, feeding the initial raccoon never truly tamed it. I was just sticking around you in the hopes of getting more food, and was getting word out to other raccoons in the area.

Why such a major inconvenience over feeding raccoons? Simple. To teach players not to feed real ones. Raccoons are very much wild and potentially troublesome animals, and feeding wild raccoons in real life can cause problems. So, in accordance with Mojang's want for more educational animal content, why not add a mechanic that punishes the player for disrupting wild animals.

However, this isn't the only feature involving them. There could still be a proper way to tame raccoons, albeit using a non-food item or a tool. Just in case people still want one as a pet, without the severe inconvenience that comes from feeding them outright. Not to mention if they want to farm them for items.

When killed, raccoons could drop leather, as well as a new raccoon tail item for potions and armor.

Curse of Stymie: the worst curse in the game

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 03:02 PM PST

The word Stymies definition means to hinder the progress of, so you could imagine what this would do, I'll explain it anyways.

A way to mark your progress in Minecraft is with advancements, unlike achievements, you get them in each game. This curse stops you from getting advancements by not letting you do the action detailed in them

With this curse on, advancements you have already made won't be inhibited in any ways, but new advancements will.

Imagine this, you're midway through the game, you have iron tools and armor, and you are preparing to go into the nether when you find diamond boots with the curse of Stymie and the curse of Binding. You put them on. You try to enter the Nether, but you won't go through the portal. You find diamonds and can't mine them whatsoever either.

Both of these actions would give you advancements (we need to go deeper, Diamonds!) so you are prevented from doing them. But, let's say your iron pickaxe breaks, you can still make a new one since it's advancement (isn't it iron pick) is one you've already gotten, thus you can still preform the action.

    Quarts in the overworld

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 01:14 PM PST

I get that doing it would make going to the Nether (at least now before the next nether update) even less useful. Just seems weird it can not be obtained without the nether being that quarts is a fairly common gem stones found in the real world

Instead of baked potatoes in rabbit stew, raw potatoes

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 05:20 PM PST

Minecraft is a great game with infinite creativity, exploration and fun. But, there is one thing that angers me like nothing else; the use the baked potatoes in rabbit stew. When I am crafting my hundreds of gallons of rabbit soup, it annoys me to no end that I have to bake all my potatoes before adding them to this holy mixture. Not only does it waste time and coal, but it also doesn't make sense from a cooking perspective; why would you bake the potato first, instead of putting in the raw potato? By doing so, it will also make rabbit stew actually worthwhile, instead of being worse than its parts as it is now. Mojang, if you are reading this, please fix this glaring hole in an otherwise good game.

    Add an Altimeter.

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 06:16 PM PST

The altimeter would look like a quartz tablet, with a color meter, a white arrow pointing at the meter, and a Y coordinate of the block you are looking at. It would tell you your altitude by using color and the arrow. Red would be near or on bedrock, with bright pink being the height limit. The rest of the color spectrum would be in between, with yellow being at about sea level.

Crafting: In the manner of a compass or clock, 3 quartz on the bottom, left, and right, a glass pane of the top, with Redstone in the middle.

Uses: Tells you the altitude, even in the Nether or the End. Can be crafted with 8 pieces of paper around it to create an Altitude Map, which uses those colors to distinguish mountains and ravines better. Crafted with 7 pieces of paper, a compass(replacing a piece of paper) and the Altimeter gives a Locator Altitude map.

I personally think this would be a great addition.

    How to improve Blast furnace

    Posted: 03 Jan 2020 07:33 PM PST

Currently, the blast furnace smelts ore twice as quickly as a normal furnace. However, I feel like this isn't quite enough as it's arguably easier to simply create two furnaces instead. My suggestion is to have the blast furnace smelt 5 ore at a time. This would enable players to smelt large volumes of ore very quickly. It would also make players more inclined to use the blast furnace instead of the regular furnace.
