If your reputation is low enough within a village, villagers should throw eggs at you.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:18 PM PDT

Maybe a new "boo" or heckle sound would play from them. This would happen if you kill a golem, steal crops multiple times, etc. Basically, you get a walk of shame.

Chests in bastions should be "piglin chests" with a gold pig snout as the lock, diffentiating them from normal chests so that piglins don't get mad if you open your own chest but they do if you open theirs

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:53 AM PDT

Right now, if you open your own chest piglins get mad at you, even though they really shouldn't. If they have their own piglin chest (maybe made of crimson wood with a golden pig lock) that they'd defend without getting mad, itd solve the problem of opening your own chest

Squid Overhaul (AI Behaviour, Spawning, New Species, Drops and Textures)

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:34 AM PDT

Squids are probably the dumbest and lacklustre mobs in Minecraft which is pretty upsetting considering how interesting and intelligent they are IRL. It's so much lost potential. Cephalopod intelligence (You can read more about them here if you are interested)

I'm gonna get this part out of the way quickly because it has been said countless times and I don't want to bore you.

    1. Squids stay below the ocean's surface to prevent suffocation
    2. Doesn't spawn in lakes and rivers
    3. Drops calamari
    4. Baby Squids

Now onto some more interesting stuff.

    AI Behaviour

Ability to perceive a threat and escape: If the player comes near the squid (~5 blocks), it will speed up (Same speed as Depth Strider I). If it is hit, it will ink and be given a speed boost until 4 seconds have passed or it made it 12 blocks away (Speed boost = Depth Strider II). The ink will give a new effect called "inked" which will black out the screen for 3 seconds. (The same thing will happen if it gets hit by a hostile mob). If a mob is inked, they will get confused and stay still for 3 secs. Think of this as a "budget" blindness.

    Spawning and Species

    Normal Squid

The normal squid would have the same stats but have a texture that doesn't make them look like a derpy cube but more of an actual squid. They can spawn in any ocean biome. They would have a natural predator, the aggressive Squid. These normal squids have evolved to be able to ink multiple times to avoid being killed by their predator so they will yield the most ink sac drops.

Aggressive Squid (Not too sure about the name because Mojang doesn't want real-life hostile animals anymore, so maybe a fantasy name with it appearing very alien-like?)

These are the meanest squids in Minecraft. They are 1.5 blocks tall, a block wide and crimson in colour. They travel in groups of 1 - 4 and already as fast as Steve with Depth Strider II. They have 12 hearts and deal 4 hearts of damage in Hard Mode. They are hostile towards all passive/neutral mobs but are neutral towards players and other Hostile mobs unless you get too close to them, similar to how Polar Bears get aggressive when you approach their young.

They also have impeccable tracking skills with the ability to track you until you are 32 blocks away from them. They spawn much less frequently compared to the normal squids but are slightly more common the deeper you are.

Instead of dropping ink sacs, they have a chance to drop an enzyme gland (0-1 without any looting) which can be brewed to make a potion of deception (only deceives sea creatures; drowned and guardians not included). Pretty much any sea creature will not notice you until you attack them. Essentially this potion tricks sea creatures into thinking you are just another squid because of the enzymes. This would make killing, collecting and avoiding aggressive squid or other hostile sea creatures easier (if Mojang ever adds new hostile sea creatures).

    Deep-Sea Squid

This will be pretty much just the normal squid but much much rarer and only found in deep-sea biomes. They would be bioluminescent and have some transparency without the ability to ink. These graceful and beautiful creatures would simply float around slowly and have only 2 hearts. They don't drop anything useful nor do they drop XP. This mob is purely for aesthetics.

    Coral Reef Squid

Smallest of the Minecraft squid species (1/2 a block tall, 1/3 wide) and definitely the most interesting. Only spawns in Coral Reefs and rarely in LukeWarm Ocean Biomes. They are passive, have 5 hearts of health and usually hide within coral with an amazing ability to almost fully camouflage itself. They can be picked up by a bucket and placed in an aquarium.

You are also able to breed them but there must be a few conditions required. Their aquarium must have at least 1 coral and sand block, 1 piece of coral, seagrass and 4 water-source blocks. They need to be fed any fish at least once before they activate "love mode". Breeding can take up to 2 mins with a 50% of success (during this time the player cannot be in the range of 6 blocks or the squid will get startled and stop the breeding process). If it has successfully bred, it will lay a few eggs each with a 50% chance of hatching. Squids cannot be bred again until 3 in-game days have passed.

The best part about these squids is that they're bioluminescent during the night. They will have a beautiful glow (only certain pixels, not the whole squid) that changes colour every so often. They'd look amazing in the ocean during nighttime. (Wandering Trader does not sell this squid)

    Species TLDR

Coral Reef Squid: Pet, passive, best camouflage ability, smallest, breedable and bioluminescent.

Normal Squid: Smarter, more realistic texture and drops the most ink sacs

Aggressive Squid: Aggressive, pack hunters and drops an enzyme gland that can be brewed to make a new potion

Deep-Sea Squid: Aesthetic - Passive, bioluminescent and transparent.

all mushrooms should be edible, but they should make it that there is a small chance of getting nausea effect and poison when eating them

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 10:17 AM PDT

think with me: there are poisonous mushrooms irl. if minecraft wanna make mushrooms really realistic, they need to be edible and regenerate the hunger bar a small amount eg.: half a hunger point.

but as there are poisonous mushrooms as I said, the nausea effect and poison effect would have a small chance of happening eg.: 10%.

this is a minor change but would make the game more realistic.

    Magic protection enchanment

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:13 AM PDT

We have fire protection, regular protection, blast protection, even projectile protection. However thare are many mobs that use magic to attack (witches, guardians, wither skeletons, the wither boss, the ender dragon, etc) so why not have a protection enchanment for those mobs? The effect wold be reduced (for example: the wither effect wold give you damage less frequently, the slowness you get from strays could slow you down less, dragon's breath wold give less damage, etc). This wold also apply to potions and tipped arrows.

Eyes of ender rarely can spawn in stronghold chests

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 07:06 AM PDT

Eyes of ender may rarely spawn inside the chest of a stronghold, but the combined total of all eyes of ender in the stronghold will never generate as 3 or more. Occasionally one (only one, not both) of the 2 may even generate already in the portal instead of in a chest. This lets players have a vague clue on how to activate the portal and getting the item lets them get the recipe for the item.

With the nether update, as chains are added, it would be cool if you could get mobs, players and skulls hanging (ik, not family friendly) on the chains (mobs will be hanging from the legs). That would be a great update for making horror maps.

New Obsidian-based Nether Biome, Name Undetermined

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 10:05 PM PDT

I recently had a dream. In this dream, I was exploring the new Nether in Minecraft, and I came across this new biome that consisted largely of obsidian and crying obsidian, with lava oceans surrounding these islands, and upon waking up, I realized it was an amazing idea. I deviated a bit from the dream while writing this, though, as it was mainly just a spark.

So this new biome would have terrain made almost entirely of obsidian and crying obsidian. There may even be the occasional obsidian statue of a warped or crimson tree (to give the feel of an area that was petrified by something mysterious long ago). Ghasts and wither skeletons would both spawn in this biome, but at an extremely low rate. There would otherwise be no mobs at all.

Also, to make for a volcanic glass-like feel, there could be glass making up portions of the terrain (black stained to blend with the obsidian, perhaps), and a new block: broken glass. Broken glass would deal a small amount of damage when walked on, unless you're wearing boots, it would fall like gravel, sand and concrete powder, and like sand, it could be smelted into solid glass.

There would also be two new blocks: chiseled obsidian and chiseled crying obsidian. These blocks would only be obtainable by harvesting them from the new biome, being found in some type of ruin structure. It would not be craftable, as obsidian is extremely hard and brittle, and would require the expertise of some long-forgotten craftsmen.

Finally, because obsidian takes so long to break, as a reward for going to all the effort of mining through it, ancient debris would spawn a bit more frequently in this biome. After all, if a nether mine goes through this biome, it can be extremely frustrating getting through that obsidian, so players who go to those extremes should have something to show for it. It wouldn't spawn a whole lot more frequently. Just to a noticeable degree.

TL;DR: I had a dream about an obsidian biome in the Nether and decided it was a good idea.

EDIT #1: I should probably mention that while in the dream, I mentioned it being more island-ish, I think the real thing would be mainly just obsidian terrain with almost no lava.

EDIT #2: I notice some of you are coming up with some really fun names, and I think perhaps everyone else should upvote the ones they like (you don't have to or anything, especially with the scrolling it would take, but it would be nice).

It doesn't make sense that you take damage but touching it but not by punching it.

Edit: if it isn't clear if you break it with any tool or item you won't get damaged. You'll only take damage if you break it using your bare hands.

    StarvingDamage - a new gamerule

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:19 AM PDT

We have the FireDamage, FallDamage and DrowningDamage gamerules. I think this would be nice to have. This gamerule would make you not deal damage from starving, but you would still lose hunger and wont be able to regenerate health and sprint if low on hunger.

This would be especially useful for maps. In a scenario when you want the player to stop regenerating and eventually sprinting if they lose hunger, but you dont want them to take damage from starvation. Or if you just want to not regenerate/sprint but you also dont want to lose hitpoints if hungry when in a creative/experimental/map world.

Forest Update (The Oak, Birch, and Dark Oak Forests)

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:06 AM PDT

The Forest biome is empty, void of any exclusive features. Sure we have Woodland Mansions in Dark Oak Forests but what about Oak and Birch Forests. It's utterly strange that Forests are empty of anything but wood. In real life, Temperate Forests are home to millions of species. 8 of 10 land animal species call these forests their home. Oddly there's none in Minecraft's forests and there's really no point in visiting these Minecraft Forest since there are a lot of other places (Like Plains, Savannahs, and more) to get wood from. It's a peaceful biome but it's extremely boring whereas the real life forests are thriving with life and a fun place to explore. Forests could use some exclusive mobs, features, and structures. So I've come up with a list of those features that could perhaps make Forests more lively and interesting:

-Forests Birds and Owls that would fill the Forest Biome with life and ambience, Owls can be used to send a book and quill to a target player in Multiplayer Servers. The Forests Birds would attack Bees. They would also follow players holding a Nut.

-Forests could also use some Ambience Sounds. Daytime: Forest Birds Chirping - loop addition Leaves rustling while wind blowing - loop addition Mysterious Animal Call - rare loop addition Tree falling down (Fallen Trees) - rare loop addition Nighttime: Owl Calls - loop addition Leaves rustling while wind blowing - loop addition Wolves howling - rare loop addition Mysterious Animal Call - rare loop addition

-Abandoned Camps would generate in Forests. Abandoned Camps consist of worn down tents made of wool blocks, and an unlit campfire on the center. These tents contain a loot chest with precious loot inside. Skeletons also spawn inside these tents so watch out!

-Nuts would drop from Oak and Birch Trees similar to how Apples drop from Oak trees. Nuts can be eaten by the player. They have a random chance of becoming poisonous. They also restore a random amount of hunger points (ranging from 2-6 hunger points) when eaten.

    Suggestion for 1.16: doNightSkip gamerule.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 10:26 AM PDT

Hello, im planing on making a serious roleplay realm and we are looking into some realistic gameplay, for that we need to be able to disable night skipping on beds but keeping the rest of bed functions like laying down and setting spawnpoints.

Basically a way to get this working is to have some acount always in creative AFK so the night cant be skiped even when the rest of players got to their beds.

Having always an active AFK acount on the server preventing everyone from skipping the night is not optimal, this could be solved with a simple gamerule that we currently dont have and seems like there is no plugins for the last versions to solve this.

Would be great if the mojang team reads this and help us with that simple gamerule. Many players that like challenges or want to get a more difficult experience may like this suggestion. Thanks

Honey bottles should be able to be brewed into cures.

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:21 AM PDT

Right now, if you want to get rid of any active potion effects, your only option is a milk bucket, which rids you of all effects (good and bad). So I propose that you should be able to brew cures by replacing the water bottle in the brewing stand with a honey bottle. This, in turn, would rid you of the specific potion effect you brewed. What do you think of this idea?
