Idea for bamboo being used as a wood block

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 05:38 AM PDT

The idea is fairly simple, you would craft bamboo planks by drying/"curing" bamboo in a furnace and then craft 9 dried bamboo together to make one bamboo plank. The recipe would be designed to be more expensive/time consuming to craft as a way to balance the plank type as otherwise it could be seen as OP/broken seeing as how easy bamboo can be farmed.

I would invasion the planks to be a tanner shade of oak planks and have a bit of black color mixed in. (See this for an example of what I mean ) Obviously it would door, trapdoor, fence, etc variants too.

    Rare Enderman spawn

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 04:12 PM PDT

Since Enderman teleport between the 3 dimensions what if Endermen had spawns where they had a very small chance to spawn in the (Nether and Overworld only, keep the End pure) holding blocks from the other dimension so you may see an enderman holding netherrack in the overworld or grass in the nether at a very low chance to spawn

Nether water (read whole post before downvoting)

Add an option to allow water in the nether with commands so people playing in creative can use it in builds /gamerule netherwater true

It would not work in survival if cheats are off

Pretty self explanatory but being in creative and having to get two things from separate categorys is a little teadious. It just makes it a little easier you know?

    New villager profession: Geographer

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 06:08 AM PDT

I think we can all agree that some biomes are really hard to find .ie jungles. That's where this villager comes in.

    Details:

The Geographer's workstation would be a lodestone and it would sell maps to certain biomes. It would also sell/ buy compasses and maps.

    Why lodestone?

The lodestone is meant to show locations to different areas and that is what the geographer does.

I only just thought of the idea and didn't want to forget it so haven't thought about too much. Tell me what you think!

Endermen should protect themselves with blocks.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 05:01 AM PDT

I already posted that like a year ago I think.

Endermen should use the block they're holding like an umbrella and protect themselves from rain.

If it's a poppy (yes, they can pick up poppies apparently), it does nothing.

That would ake sense and be a cool little addition like creepers giving the potion effects they have.

Alternatively, when water flows on their head, they could also stop it with the block.

Make the strider shearable for string

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 11:54 AM PDT

The new lava strider drops up to 5 string when killed. On the egg and right side of the strider, there are white hairs that I'm guessing is the string that drops. I don't see why you have to kill it to get the string, when it would make sense to just be able to shear it like a sheep. It would cut just the hairs off and change the texture for a bit until it eats enough warped fungus, and then it would grow the hair back.

    Shield Ramming

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 08:16 AM PDT

If a shield is held in the player's main hand (instead of in addition to another weapon), they can deal damage to opponents by charging towards them and timing a strike. This attack would launch the mob or player backwards, however it would cause the shield to lose substantial durability and stun the player's shields (it would stun all of their shields instead of just the one used as otherwise the cooldown could be avoided by switching shields).

This addition would add much needed spice to shield use, giving players a bigger variety of fighting styles without even adding a new weapon to perhaps crowd the combat options. An attack like this also has downsides, as after the attack the player is left right next to foes without their shield for cover, so players will have an opportunity to consider strategy.

Make a gamerule to remove xp orbs.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 09:50 AM PDT

This gamerule would make xp go directly to the player instead of orbiting them until it gets collected. I've found that too many orbs generate a lot of lag.

I believe this could be a good addition because at the moment invisibility potions seem kind of overpowered.

    Training Dummy

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 05:29 PM PDT

Made with an armor stand and a target block, a Training Dummy can be placed down and used to practice combat. Melee weapons used against it will not lose durability, making it a good way of testing your strength, and they can be destroyed by simply destroying the block beneath them.

However, what's even more interesting is that these dummies can also produce a Redstone signal when hit, with the signal strength being based on the damage the dummy takes. This allows for some cool weapon-based contraptions, and potentially even a way of gating progress in an adventure map via weapon progression.

1.18 blocks (in addition to the main focus of the update)

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 09:49 AM PDT

I've seen a lot of posts about things like bamboo wood, and other new building blocks, so here's a list of loads I think would be good.

    Bamboo wood

crafted by smelting bamboo into dried bamboo and crafting 4 of them into 1 plank, with a tan sort of colour. obviously there would be trapdoors, doors, slabs and all the wood things made of this.

    Green bamboo

4 bamboo can make something with a similar texture to bamboo wood, but with a greenish tint to it. it also has all the wooden item variants, obviously.

    Concrete slabs, stairs, and walls

concrete is great for adding lots of colour to your builds, but it isn't very versatile. crafted the same way as all the stone variants, concrete walls, slabs, and stairs will make concrete more useful.

    Stone variants

Andesite, Diorite, and Granite are rarely used because people say they don't look that good, but when they are used the results can be amazing. -ite block bricks and cracked variants would add even more versatility, and maybe these blocks can be used by everyone, not just elite builders like BdoubleO.

please feel free to add to this in the comments! someone can post this on the website if you want, i'm not too bothered

give Illagers different faces, and make the witch's skin grey

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 08:00 AM PDT

I saw this meme, and got that idea. It's kinda weird they have the same faces, so why not give them different facial features?

    The Evoker wears glasses

The Pillager has a big scar across his face

Witches have grey skin and a wart

Vindicators have eyes like a sheep, since the mob beastiery says the Vindicator is dumb

    End Behemoth

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 11:58 AM PDT

So this might be kind of a weird post, as I actually came up with this idea in a dream last night (I know, I've probably been playing too much Minecraft). But anyways, I dreamt that Minecraft had received an End Update, and one of the mobs from my dream really stuck out to me.

The End Behemoth would be a miniboss-style creature found rarely in the Outer End Islands. It would first appear as a massive creature immobile and half-buried in the end stone. If you ventured too close, it would awaken and rise from the ground to its full height, dwarfing the player. I imagine it would look something like a massive sauropodian dinosaur with an endstone-esque color scheme and large spikes running down its back. It would move slowly but be incredibly tanky, and have a range of attacks ranging from a stomp to a tail-swipe, dealing a considerable amount of knockback to the player.

Upon its death, it might drop some hide which the player could use to craft a special backpack, or maybe some of its spikes which could be crafted into some sort of new weapon.

I don't have any concept art for this, but I thought it was interesting enough to share. Minecraft needs more large mobs, and I think this could be a cool and otherworldly addition to the game in the event of an end update.

    Playing disks from the inventory

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 06:55 AM PDT

I know this sounds like it defeats the point of the jukebox, but hang with me on this one.

So, if you are in creative mode and you have a music disk in your inventory, you can drag it into a music player, this would be a little box on the side of the inventory and would have a play and pause button, this would play the disk, players around you (same radius as jukebox) would be able to hear the disk play, although like I said, this would only be accessible from creative mode, so not to remove the functionality of a jukebox.

    Client-Side Anti-Cheat

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 02:27 PM PDT

    Introduction

Multiplayer has long been ignored by the Minecraft Developers. Servers are, of course, not the focus of the game, so this makes sense. However, because of this, servers suffer. Clients like Wurst, Vape, Wolfram, SIGMA and many more ruin the game for innocent players, making it less fun. Because of this, server owners have to design plugins to stop users from cheating. Now, this is all well and good, but these plugins don't always work.... And they're not easy to make. A lot of cheats are EXPLICITLY designed to stay under an Anti-Cheat's radar. Enter, my proposition for a Client-Side Anti-Cheat.

    How It Would Work

Unlike conventional server-side Anti-Cheats that detect what your hacks are doing and compare it to vanilla, this anti-cheat would detect which client you log in on. There would be a list of Blacklisted Clients, ones that would not be allowed on servers that disallow them. There would be Verified Clients, ones that are allowed on all servers. There would be an "allow blacklisted clients" option that defaults to false in server.properties. Any 3rd party Client has to get permission from Mojang to become a Verified Client. If they don't have explicit permission from Mojang, it will default to a Blacklisted Client.

    Blacklisted Clients

Think of all the usual hacked clients, plus any non-verified clients. Some ideas would be:

    • Wurst
    • Wolfram
    • SIGMA
    • Vape

    You get the idea.

    Verified Clients

These clients are verified by default, as everyone knows they're not hacked.

    • Vanilla
    • Badlion
    • Hyperium
    • Lunar
    • LabyMod
    • Forge (but only if they can tell that the mods they have are safe)

    Smite/Bane enchantment buff

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 07:53 AM PDT

Most people prefer Sharpness on their swords all the time. A good buff to Smite and Bane would be that every level of Smite/Bane would increase the sword's overall damage by 1 HP, and damage to the respective mobs will increase by 1.5. Also, Smite and Bane can now be applied to the same sword with an anvil.

This way, smite and Bane will be better than Sharpness.

    Togglable Camera Mode

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 05:00 AM PDT

I found a few suggestions similar to this but wasn't able to find exactly what I was looking for, so I figured this is a unique suggestion. In the last few years, we've seen a lot of new titles implement some sort of camera mode. A few examples off the top of my head are Spiderman PS4, Animal Crossing, and Super Mario Odyssey. I feel like Minecraft could benefit from a camera mode too. And better still, because we already have a spectator mode, a lot of the code for such a feature already exists within the game and could easily be adapted for this.

Enabling Camera Mode in the World

Camera mode could be designed as a feature that can be turned on and off per world. Camera mode can be toggled when first creating a new world (similar to how toggling cheats works) or could later be enabled or disabled using a gamerule command such as this:

    /gamerule CameraMode on/off

This would benefit things like PVP servers as it would prevent camera mode from being used for screen peaking or other things that could potentially imbalance the game

Using Camera Mode as a Player

When playing on a world with camera mode enabled, there could be a button in the inventory that will toggle the mode on or off for the player. When switched on, the game takes the players current position as the "center point" for the camera. The camera itself is restricted to a 16m radius from the center point. Unlike spectator mode, camera mode also obeys collision data, and while in camera mode, you can't pass through blocks as you can in spectator mode.

The camera mode HUD will show you various controls, including your screenshot button and the button to toggle your HUD on or off. There could be a couple of additional controls such as one to toggle control between the player's character and the camera (in case you want to have your character stand somewhere different after turning on camera mode or want to get an action shot of the player doing something for the picture), toggle weather or night vision on or off, and also controls to add frames or filters to your picture.

    Frames and Filters

Minecraft currently has 4 existing "filters" in spectator mode: creeper, enderman, spider, cave spider. This could very well be expanded to include more generic ones like greyscale, sepia, and film grain, and more Minecraft themed ones like pumpkin head or nether portal.

Frames I doubt I need to explain too much either. These could be simple borders that can go around pictures such as cinematic black bars, a simple white frame, or some Minecraft themed frames. There could also be frames which overlay info on the screen such as real world date and time, or in game day number. There's a lot you could do here.

Pros and Cons to this Mode

    Pros:

    • Could be fairly simple to implement
    • Improve the quality and quantity of screenshots being taken or shared by survival players
    • Features added specifically for camera mode could be later added to spectator or creative mode
    • Being a togglable world rule allows server mods to easily stop players from exploiting the free camera

    Cons:

    • Would probably give hackers a new avenue to create freecam hacks
    • PVP servers which have camera mode enabled would create a meta which revolves around players using the mode to ambush other players
    • Limited controls with range and wall clipping when compared to spectator mode may make it frustrating to use in comparison to other modes which allow free movement

    Better pet teleportation

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 03:34 PM PDT

An armor enchantment that increases your item pickup range.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 10:07 AM PDT

This might not seem that useful at first but listen out.

I was playing the original sonic after a few hours of building my base on survival, at one moment I grabbed the electric shield (the one that attracts nearby rings) and It hit me: imagine having some kind of armor enchantment that increased the range from which you can attract broken blocks, so that you can work on those roofs and tall build details without having to chase your resources around every time you drop a block, or make sure you get every sponge back when draining a lake, or mine with TNT and have giant waves of items fly directly into your face, people could even implement this into minigames and redstone builds, the possibilities are endless!

Most enchantments in the game are either survival or combat oriented, but building is one of the biggest parts of the game and I think an enchantment like this would fit the game and add some interesting variety to armor sets and game mechanics.

    What do you guys think?

    Remove enchantments cap from Anvil

    Posted: 09 Aug 2020 03:55 AM PDT

I'm not talking about the max levels amount that you can use in an anvil (39), instead I'm talking about enchantments. Currently if you have enchanted books with levels higher than the maximum (E.g. Efficiency VIII (8)) while applying it in the anvil it will be capped to the max enchantment level (E.g. Efficiency V). Proof: https://imgur.com/a/VZMzUyT
This cap should be removed as will allow higher level enchantments (obtained e.g. with Datapacks) to be used correctly.
