Some ideas for the Glow Squid

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 09:02 AM PST

Someone somewhere said not to be angry at people for voting for it but rather help making it not as plain and boring as it seems, so here we go.

    1. Naming a Glow Squid "jeb_" or something related makes it change colors.
At least consider this if you don't feel about other points. Who wouldn't want a disco squid? Especially if it glows in the dark (even if it doesn't give off actual light).

    2. And maybe some other visual effects.
I've read that some bioluminescent squids "flicker" when attacking prey. I don't see this minecraft creature as something that would hunt for fish or other things, so the flickering effect (by flickering I mean just cycling from brighter to darker glow) could be used when the squid senses danger or is already being attacked. It's just to give the mob some way of reacting besides only trying to swim away.

    3. Item dropped from it should have a form of gel.
At least to me the mob looks like it's made of jello-like substance. It still can be this "luminous dye" everyone wanted, just maybe in a different form than they expected, and it could still be added to all the colorable blocks like a normal dye. The main reason why I suggest it to be a gel is:

    4. A block made out of it.
      Consider a block, that:
      - is both sticky (to other blocks, like a slime block) and slippery (to entities);
      - by itself only glows like a magma block, actually giving off light only when touching water.
The second point could also be used for the Squid, why would it glow on land?
The block combining propeties of slime and ice is something I thought of before the mob vote, but now it has an actual connections behind it. Imagine a slime-honey-gel redstone machine, not only more complex, but also visible in the dark, glowing this neon blue while moving.
Or just think of it as a cheap knock-off of the Sea Lantern. Variants of the block could be used in generated caves, if there are any that it would fit.

    5. Some other gel uses.
There is a lot that can be done with such an item. Maybe a crafting recipe for Spectral Arrows, where it substitutes Glowstone Dust? An actual lamp block, like the redstone-glowstone lamp, but perhaps with amethyst? Perhaps even something edible (or otherwise consumable), maybe using it would make the player slippery and make moving through water, cobwebs, vines or crawling in a 1-block gap a bit faster, at the same time giving them the glowing effect. I considered even protective measures of this item, like a chance of an attack at the player dealing less damage, because the hand of the attacker could literally slip.

Whatever decisions are taken, just don't make this mob boring.

If you are wearing armor, attempting to right-click another piece for the same slot should swap it.

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:41 PM PST

This would help with not dying from the void, and not accidentally dropping items when switching armor. If you do not like this idea, explain why.

    Swimming animation in lava

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 08:20 AM PST

The player should be able to "swim" in lava and not just walk in it, which would make getting out of lava easier. Though it should be slower than swimming in water an the player of course still takes damage.

    Mola Molas

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 10:01 AM PST

    Mola Molas

Since Minecraft is going to add glow squids, an ambient mob with (apparently) no interactions or uses, I think Minecraft should (and could) add an ambient mob with SOME environmental interactions. Mola molas are passive aquatic mobs that spawn in warm oceans (coral reefs) and lukewarm oceans. They have 50 HP and 10 armour points which makes them resistant to pretty much all damage. At 3 blocks long, 5 blocks tall and about 1 block wide, sunfish are gentle behemoths which roam the oceans.

Mola molas will purposely detect small spaces and avoid them, and can only spawn in areas with a 15x6x15 (lxwxh) space (which means they most likely won't spawn in shallower oceans). Tropical fish have a tendency to gravitate around molas and swim around them, like planets orbiting the sun. Mola molas ignore players and all mobs, except for squids; they will attack squids in a 10 block radius. Until jellyfish-like mobs are added, squids will do.

Mola molas can be bred by players lucky enough to come across two using ink sacs. When bred, molas will start off as baby mola molas: baby molas have 10 hearts and 0 armour points, making them fragile. They can be scooped up in buckets and taken around in a Bucket of Baby Mola Mola. After 5-6 Minecraft nights, they grow into a slightly smaller mola which shares a model with the full sized one; the juvenile is 1 block long and 3 blocks tall. After another 4-5 Minecraft nights, they grow into fully sized molas. As juveniles, they actively seek out the largest possible space around. If a mola grows to full size in a space smaller than 15x6x15 blocks, they will (rather depressingly) suffocate and die, their fins folded against their body and tilted towards the ground, so don't try cramming them in a small box to die.

Since Minecraft is interested in adding AmBiEnT mObS now and is focused on adding endangered species to the game, I think Mola Molas would be a good interesting mob to add.

Models (scale is juvenile to baby, adult shares model but is bigger)

This would be another secret acheivement like how did we get here but it will make players potentially risk their Minecraft lives. This acheivement gets its name as a sonic adventure 2 reference to the music for meteor herd because meteors suit the end perfectly and gliding out into the void outside the meteors, well I think you know what I mean now

    Firework table

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 01:26 PM PST

This would be an easier way to upgrade fireworks quickly, without wasting lots of materials

The first change would be firework patterns. Just like banner patterns, these patterns are reusable and have a similar texture.

The actual table could be used to upgrade rockets easily. You place a single gunpowder into a slot, then the firework in a slot next to it, and you upgrade the firework. A stack can be upgraded at a time. This could also add a rocketeer villager who sells rockets and tnt, and will trade for gunpowder and paper. Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

Piglins should have a chance to drop a map, with an x marked for the closest fortress.

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 03:07 PM PST

Seeing as fortresses are a lot rarer since 1.16, it would make sense for piglins to drop maps leading to them, as to avoid searching for possibly hours. It would also be really cool for piglins to drop more useful items such as this!..

The Warden can appear in a vision while you are sleeping

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 12:03 PM PST

Minecraft helps players discover parts of the game by providing clues such as explorer maps that take you on a journey to Woodland Mansions, or the basement under igloos implying that you can cure Zombie Villagers, or ruined portals to guide you to the Nether. Minecraft could have something similar for the Deep Dark.

The Deep Dark is like the mysterious underbelly of the Overworld. It is secluded deep underground, out of the way and easily ignored. The Warden lives under the Overworld like a monster under your bed. When you get visions of the Warden in your sleep, its a hint that theres something sinister in the world. And for those who've met the Warden, its a reminder.

Normally when you sleep, you look down at yourself in bed as everything fades before waking up. There would be a very rare chance that your surroundings turn into an empty void, all you can see is your body and your bed while everything else fades to black. There will be nothing except for a shadowy figure in the dark: the Warden. The Warden's pose and placement is random, it could be looming over your bed or standing in the distance. Its glowing chest beating would be last thing you see before you wake up.

By the time you notice it, the sleeping animation would be done and you'd be awake again. It doesnt affect anyone else so it could happen to you in multiplayer. It'd leave players wondering what they saw and what it meant. If they ever wander into the Deep Dark, maybe they'd remember seeing that place in their dreams.

    bat inprovements

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 12:21 PM PST

I think we can all agree that the bat needs improvements. here are my ideas:

    • bats will now spawn in groups of up to 20 at once, making them actually give the caves atmosphere.
    • they will only spawn below y40
    • when killed, they will drop 3 experience orbs and have a 30% chance to drop a bat eye, which can be brewed to make a potion of night vision.
    • they can be bred using silverfish (an item dropped from silverfish upon being killed)
    • they also will be attracted to silverfish, making it easier to move them around.
    • they will kill silverfish upon sight.
    • of course, clicking on them in spectator mode will make the world appear as if you had night vision.

Creeper explosions have a 100% drop rate

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 12:13 AM PST

When a creeper explodes, it will break blocks. But not all of the blocks will drop as items, resulting in somewhat filled in craters.

Imagine diamond blocks (when you can afford to build w them), getting deleted.

A simple remedy is to make creeper explosions drop alll of the blocks that they broke, to allow players to successfully repair any damage.

Desert Update (Sand and more sand)

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 12:28 PM PST

Good morning, Good Afternoon or Good Night to you who are reading this, today I came to bring another Update Idea for Minecraft, in this case a Desert Update that also includes Badlands, I want to thank my two friends: Polar and Vi who helped me with some ideas, then come on!**Minecraft: Sand and more sand**

    **Desert**

So, for this set of ideas I have a context: This Update would have as its base theme an Arab / Egyptian theme, and one of the highlights would be ...

**Special Remodeling in the Desert Village**

I have always had the impression that the desert village is a bit embarrassed compared to the other villages: For example I know that you prefer to find a taiga or plain village than one in the Desert, so I would like to change that with the ...

    *Merchants*

Merchants would be a version a thousand times better and more interesting than the Nomadic Merchant, they would appear every 50 days (within the game), and 5 variants of them would arrive in a special area of the desert village, which would be like a huge fair , the 5 variants would have the median to the rarest for each type of item: Purple: Ore Example: Iron to Netherite Scrap Green: Plants Example: Jungle tree trunk to Rosa do Whiter Red: Relics From a Telescope to Totem of Eternity Blue: Enchanted Things Golden Apples and Books Yellow: Nether General Nether stuff After staying 3 days in the village, they ride on their Camels (Yes, uwu camels) and leave and you will have to wait 50 days again, this would be a motivation for the players to want to count the days; During those 50 days, you can find them near dungeons, Oasis or even halfway :D

    **Neutral, Peaceful and Hostile Mobs:**Peaceful: (P)Neutral: (N)

    Hostile: (H)

    Semi Boss: (S)

    Boss: (B)

We arrived at a part ... Fun! the mobs:

    *Camel:* (P)

It would be a useful domesticable mob You can tame him with potatoes, but you can only ride him with a cell, he can carry 2 chests

    *Desert Fox* (P)

Just as there is a variation of the fox for snowy biomes of minecraft, there would be one for the desert, with a more yellowish color, as Berrys is lacking to feed these foxes, they feed on sugar cane *Meerkat* (N)

So cute! OwO these little animals can hardly be considered Neutral mobs, if you hurt him he will come to bite you and then run off to his hole just like the Llamas, they form holes in the middle of the sand, which appear as a hole, usually in sandstone mountains where they sleep to protect themselves from the sun, to cross them you need pumpkin seeds.

We are not done with the Mobs yet, but I will give you a little pause to present a Plant that has to do with a Hostile Mob:

    *Camellia*

it is a turquoise-colored flower, which appears next to Oasis, if you want to pick up a camellia, you can take one off the ground like any other flower, but ... you have a 50% chance of only seeing the flower, the other 50 % ...

    *Sand Golem* (H)

If you were the unlucky one who took the other 50% chance, you just took Camellia off the top of a sleeping Sand Golem, the ground in 3 seconds will explode and it will jump out of the sand, Furious behind you , even if you return the flower he will stop attacking you, just run as fast as possible: Ah and he has 20 hearts of life, so it is very difficult to kill him (Credits to Polar for the basic idea)

    *Scorpion* (H)

This little animal, can be very dangerous when you are in the desert, because it has a new effect in the minecraft called: "Lethal Poison" which is the effect of poison only that kills you and the hearts are purple UwU, with two very interesting drops: Yours scales that serve to make [in a little while] and their stinger that serves to make [in a little while] and are used by something bigger between them ...

    *Scorpion Items*

So, another pause in Mobs to talk about the usefulness of drops With the scales you can make the Scale Boot, which allows you to walk faster on the sand and normal scorpions will not attack you With the stinger you can make the normal potion and splash the effect of "Lethal Poison"

    *King Scorpion* (S)

A very fast semi-boss, which in addition to the poison effect has Decomposition and immediate damage in its "special attack", in addition to that it can create normal scorpions, which will attack you even if you have the scale boots

    **The Boss**

    We learned the ...

    *The Pleague* (B)

A boss who inhabits the redesigned Temple of the desert, which holds the great treasure, has two handcuffs that were built by ancient people to contain his power, he uses these same handcuffs to beat whoever invades the temple, he is very powerful having 250 Hearts of life

To face it you would have to go down to the underground of the Temple, and there will be like a "giant golden ashtray", that inside you will have to put a netherack inside it and set fire on top of the netherack then you have to put a block of gold already present there, you have to put a block of carrion (explained later) and on top of it a block of sand of souls, and then it will be invoked

We arrived at the second part of Sand and more Sand:

    **Badlands**

Badlands would have less additions but it is not far behind!

    Remember the Carrion Block?

so there are two ways to get it:

    1- Joining 9 rotten meats

2- meeting them in the middle of the badlands

These Blocks can be very dangerous, not because the block itself does damage, but what can attack you ...

    *Vulture* (N)

If a vulture within a 15 block radius sees you next to a carrion block it will attack you, but if you are not close, it will not attack you

    * Bandittager * (H)

There you are: Walking through Badlands, with its freshly mined diamond and its almost-infinite packs of earth, then a new illager comes out of a hole: the Bandittager, he will stand in front of you with an iron sword and give you 20 seconds for you to throw an item, if you throw something like diamond, iron, emerald or gold it picks up and goes out, but if you try to attack it give a bad item or take too long it will attack you with great force and speed, He has a 25% chance of dropping ...

    *Hook*

It is a tool very similar to the fishing rod, only it has a differential, it can help you climb, if clinging to walls and ceilings, being useful in ravines

*Badlands Village* It would be a themed village from the old west, one of the small differences is that the iron golem has a sheriff hat

*Flowering Cactus* Gives only half a heart of damage, and grows much taller than a common Minecraft cactus, in addition to branching

I really hope you enjoyed the suggestions, until next time!

    Honey on a stick

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 03:37 PM PST

Honey on a stick would be an item that bees like. If you hold it up near a bee it will try to pick the honey on a stick up from the ground. If there's 4 bees or more trying to pick up the honey on a stick, you will float 2 blocks in the air and go 10% faster. Beware though, if your above a surface that will give you fall damage the bees will drop you and take the stick back into there hive. While your in the air your time is limited, you only have 15 to 20 seconds depending on the amount of bees, if its the max amount of bees (10) it would be 20 seconds if its the least (4) its 15 seconds anywhere in between is 17 seconds. If the time runs out without you letting go, the bees would go 30 blocks into the air and drop you, but that's if there's 10 bees. If there's only 4 bees they will all sting you out of anger. Anywhere in between 4 and 10 bees, the bees would just slip the honey off the stick and run. This way of travel would be good for getting across ravines, a big mansion, or just for fun. Do you think this idea is good?

    Island worlds

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 03:04 AM PST

So basically my idea is when your making a new world, you can choose between super flat, normal etc. I have the idea to add a new one which basically makes the entire world an ocean covered in big and small islands. From giant desserts with lots of villages to small snow islands without inhabitants. And this could add up to new blocks and items but the island part is the main thing for now.

    Minecraft Stone Cutter Expansion

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 03:14 AM PST

Minecraft should have more block variation. I think everyone can agree on that. A good example is the Jermsyboy texture pack. When the slab version of Stone Bricks, Sandstone, Andesite, Granite, Blackstone, Bricks etc. is double stacked, it changes to another variant of the original block, like a new type of brick, or a pillar version of that block (granite pillars look awsome).

Minecraft should add a feature with the stonecutter or add a new workbench, that would have a similar interface as the loom, where you could make a wide variety of different textures and block types. Maybe trapezoidal bricks, or octagonal, or make fine cuts to make a mosaic styled block. And the feature would be designed to make the blocks connect.

There could also be a wood version of the Stonecutter, like a Carpentry workbench. You could then place wood in it to carve it and make different plank types, wood pillars, and fancy designs for decorating.

Additionally, both of these new features could include 'stencils' instead of banner patterns, in which you could have different preset images carved into more blocks, like mob faces and symbols.

Projectiles can be enchanted with Flame in an anvil

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 03:42 PM PST

Currently, the only way to achieve a flaming projectile is to enchant a Bow with Flame or fire through Lava. It would be interesting if a Flame book could be applied to the arrows themselves if you want to shoot them from a Dispenser or Crossbow. Or, you could use the book on something else, like a stack of Eggs or a Firework.

It wouldn't be particularly powerful since it requires you to use an enchanted book on single-use items, but it would be a nice touch that would have a few niche uses. The one exception I can think of is Tridents, for balance purposes.

Armor with Fire/Blast Protection takes less durability damage from those sources.

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 03:36 PM PST

Simple enough, each level acts like a level of Unbreaking against those specific damage instances (acting independently of the actual Unbreaking enchantment)

Here's a table of values for chance to take durability damage, using Fire Prot as an example

Enchants No Unb. Unb. I Unb. II Unb. III
    No Fire Prot 100% 50% 33.3% 25%
    Fire Prot I 50% 25% 16.7% 12.5%
    Fire Prot II 33.3% 16.7% 11.1% 8.33%
    Fire Prot III 25% 12.5% 8.33% 6.25%
    Fire Prot IV 20% 10% 6.67% 5%

This would give some additional utility to enchantments that are not as commonly used.

Amethyst should resonate with sculk boxes

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:49 AM PST

The idea of having a sound based sensor is straight up awesome. But i always felt it could do with more flexibility when it comes to redstone circuits. Currently a redstone repeater allows you to refresh a redstone signal. So why not have player placed amethyst crystals be able to absorb sound and refract the sound to a nearby sculk box? So essentially you can extend the range a single box can sense sound by placing a grid of amethyst crystals around it? Crystal irl has incredible properties that allow it to absorb certain sound vibrations and give off a audible hum. What do everyone else think. Good idea? Bad idea? Wierd idea?

More wood types for bookshelves having different effects on Enchanting, as well as development for the "curses" feature

    Posted: 29 Dec 2020 07:05 PM PST

Simple idea that everyone wants: more wood types for more things. But here's a unique spin on it: Using different wood Bookshelves will have an effect on what enchantments you get. Here are my ideas:

Oak: "Normal"; works exactly like current enchanting. It's a mixed bag, you don't know what you'll get.

Spruce: Focuses on simple effectiveness. Expect Efficiency, Sharpness, Protection (or some specialized version of them like Smite). Don't expect anything too unique.

Birch: "Lucrative" enchantments? Expect Unbreaking, Fortune, Looting... Multishot, Loyalty, maybe Respiration?

Dark Oak: Spooky magic vibes. Gives curses instead of Enchantments. Sounds worthless right now, but it won't as you read further.

Acacia: "Specialized" enchantments? Fire Aspect/Flame, Thorns, Silk Touch, Punch/Knockback, Feather Falling, Channelling, etc.

EDIT: Thank you /u/Brun333rp for reminding me Jungle wood exists: Space/Maneuverability themed? Depth Strider, Feather Falling, maybe Soul Speed even though right now it's treasure only... expect Knockback and Punch for weapons. I guess just efficiency for tools, idk.

And an incomplete idea for Crimson/Warped: Could be Offensive/Defensive, but I'm having a hard time making it work (Basically the only offensive armor enchantment is thorns, and once again normal tools seem completely incompatible).

Now here's the big payoff for this idea: Just as you can make Netherbrick fences, there would also be Netherbrick bookshelves. This should give dark magic vibes, so maybe it'd change the Enchanting table texture, and the Galactic Alphabet particles/text on book could be red. The effect of this is that it will allow you to "cure" curses by replacing them with what I call "hexes" (Open to name suggestions), which are positive spins on original ideas. Below is a list of curses and their corresponding Hexes. Since there are only 2 curses currently, I've added a couple of my own ideas as well.

Curse of Binding ==> Hex of Binding: Curse of binding would be changed so that it works for tools as well; You're unable to take them out of your inventory (Armor would keep the original effect). Hex of Binding would make it so the item stays in your inventory upon death (like with keep inventory on). The Hex would go away afterward, so it's 1 use only.

Curse of Decay ==> Hex of Decay: The curse of decay would make items less effective as the durability gets lower (Tools slow down, weapons do less damage, etc). The hex of decay would do the opposite: The tool would start at its normal effectiveness, and get stronger as the durability decreases. You'd be rewarded for keeping your tools on low durability at the risk of them breaking.

Curse of Draining ==> Hex of Draining: This would be specific to weapons: Something like 1/5 of the damage you deal is dealt to you as well, like a reverse thorns effect. The Hex would heal you by 1/5 the damage you deal. (I'm not sure about the number, might need rebalancing.)

I'm having a hard time coming up with ways to put a positive spin on Vanishing, so I'd like to hear ideas from you guys in the comments.

The idea here is that curses are changed from just being an annoyance, to actually being something you might seek out, and you're rewarded for sticking with cursed items long enough to cure them. This would also change the cost from lapis to Wither Skulls (Alternatively, since that's pretty expensive, maybe Blaze Powder? I would like it to be somewhat expensive, though). Of course, you would only need one instead of 3, since all it does is replace the curses with hexes. The text color for hexes would be purple.

One more idea: Purpur bookshelves would let you get rare/powerful enchantments you can't get normally, like Mending (I think this is balanced enough; Purpur is an endgame material. This is certainly better than getting Mending through fish farms, lol). Other ones would be Frost Walker and Soul Speed. Infinity should be moved here, since I think it's more valuable than it's given credit for; a lesser version of it which only has a 50% chance of consuming arrows could be added to the Birch list. Riptide might fit here as well. Since there aren't many of these, it could also just give high level normal enchantments as well (Like Sharpness V). It would use Dragon Breath instead of Lapis. (Purpur Fences should then also be added for consistency! They'd use Popped Chorus fruit in place of sticks/Nether bricks.)

Final notes: I can already imagine redstone setups for swapping out bookshelves depending on what enchantments you want, and it would actually be useful in survival since it saves you the diamonds from having to make multiple enchanting tables. One other thing to consider would be mixed wood setups: If it's part spruce, part acacia, etc, what would be the effect? I see two valid options: Either give increased probability of each type based on the amount of that kind of bookshelf, or the simpler solution of just defaulting to Oak's normal effects. This idea would probably work much better if there were many more enchantments added, as well; As is, I struggled a bit to keep it all unique.

When I wasn't too familiar with mc and I was playing on the "super cute" texture pack I saw a turtle but it was textured like a penguin so I thought they added them, it took me a minute to realize the truth but that's why I want it so badly now, I've seen how a user got turtles into Minecraft and now I'd like to take my shot at penguins!

    How they could work:

    1. Obviously non tamable
    2. Live in snowy areas near the ocean
    3. Breed with cod
    4. will gang up on you if attacked
    5. will swim around the ocean but not too far from the shore
    6. they will be threatened if the player is holding any kind of weapon and will likely attack unless fed fish
    7. Can burrow 1-2 blocks below the surface to make a nest
    8. hunt in the ocean during the day
    9. They will have different sizes depending on its breed
    10. the smaller penguins will be hunt down by cats, wolves and foxes (it's an actual thing)
    11. the father (which could be either one at any time knowing Minecraft) will hold the egg between its legs
    12. if it is snowing the near by penguins will huddle together to keep warm, if that penguin is alone it will just shiver
    13. penguins will naturally shed feathers unlike chickens
    14. unless physically forced to (with a lead or boat) they will not go into warm biomes, they will shed feathers faster in warm biomes and cry out too (not recommended by me) -they will do tricks if fed cod or any other fish singularly (as in just one of them not two or more for breeding purposes)

Thanks for reading! If you liked the idea please consider upvoting, it will increase the chance of people like Jeb finding this and whether it's worth adding is their idea but who knows! I just really think they're fascinating creatures and they deserve to be in mc, if they are ever added, there are so many other possibilities for them that don't have to be anything of what I just said, they are fantastic creatures and I love them so much, please feel free to share criticisms and ideas in the comments, I'd love to advocate for penguins as much as I can in Minecraft!

Edit: I want to make it clear if this idea is ever picked up (very unlikely) but if it ever does that I want to leave creative freedom to the devs
