Why Mojang’s reason for not wanting to add sharks and similar at-risk animals isn’t stupid Posted: 04 Dec 2020 11:21 AM PST A lot of people argue that "nobody is going to play minecraft, see an aggressive shark, and decide, 'hmmm, today I will start a shark finning business.'" If you say this, you're entirely missing the point. Do you remember Jaws? You know, that singular piece of media that made everyone think sharks are terrifying monsters that will ravage beaches and destroy your boat if you ever go out at sea for decades to come, whose effects are still felt today? Sounds stupid, right? I mean, it's not like someone would watch a movie about a scary shark and automatically assume all sharks are murder-machines that must be killed! If the movie were the opposite, I guarantee you people would have attempted to get pet sharks or find them in the wild. Remember Eddy from Frasier? The Jack Russel Terrier? A super rowdy and hard-to-take-care-of type of dog? Remember when tons of people got that type of dog because of how well-behaved the one on TV was? How about something less drastic? Carrots and rabbits. Did you know that the reason everyone thinks rabbits love carrots is because of Bugs Bunny? Bugs Bunny's carrot-eating habits were inspired by a scene from his creator's favorite film - not the actual diets of actual rabbits. Now, though, everyone thinks a rabbit's diet consists mainly of carrots, despite them being very sugary and mostly unhealthy, because of this one character trait of this one character in this one show. It's even wormed its way into minecraft! You breed rabbits using carrots, further perpetuating this myth by not challenging it and accepting it as fact. It's incredibly important not to misrepresent an animal with misconceptions surrounding it and uncommonly known important information about it. I hope this post made sense and wasn't hard to follow. I'm no good at formatting or not going off on tangents. [link] [comments] |
The Enderdragon should not break enderchest Posted: 04 Dec 2020 03:23 PM PST She can't break obsidian yet she can break an enderchest that is made out of it, it makes no sense and should have een patched a long time ago [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 02:27 PM PST The most obvious thing would be to put a berry into the top middle. Im unsure if this would still be balanced (I don't play a lot of survival) so I'd like to hear suggestions regarding this idea. Maybe use two berries and one milk bucket, I don't know, really. Posted: 04 Dec 2020 12:50 AM PST When using an elytra, the player's attack damage should be multiplied based on how fast they are flying. It's extremely difficult and risky to land melee hits while flying at high speeds, and following through with consecutive attacks is impossible. Instead, you have to resort to a form of hit-and-run tactics involving carefully angled dives, but it usually takes two or more of these to kill most mobs, and players can easily heal back up or create a shelter by the time you can line up for a second attack. I am suggesting this because I would like to see more interesting interactions in pvp and pve involving the elytra, and would like to encourage a wider variety of viable strategies in combat. Carpet should oclude sound for the sculk sensor Posted: 04 Dec 2020 01:45 PM PST Edit because people wanted more explanatiln. Wool already blocks sounds. Seeing how carpet is made of wool it's a logical assumption that carpet would do the same. It would also give more options and freedom in building contraptions. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 04:28 PM PST I think it would be so cool if you could find rare massive trees like in real life that spawned and some could have an interior or something ...I just like trees leaf me alone [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 05:59 PM PST Currently, even if you apply mending and unbreaking III to a gold pickaxe, it's difficult to make it last long if you happen to strip mine too many blocks without running into coal again. So, they could maybe mine the other XP dropping ores other than diamond to make them applicable. Now, the reason why I do not think they should be able to mine diamonds is because with the water bucket method, you can actually go to the nether with only stone tools, and mine nether gold ore. And that could make a pickaxe. So, in theory, if they could mine diamonds, you would be able to just skip iron tools entirely. [link] [comments] |
Bonemealing mossy stone will make the moss spread to nearby cobblestone/stone brick. Posted: 04 Dec 2020 08:32 AM PST Kind of an idea on giving the player a larger source of mossy blocks without needing to steal entire underground structures - you'll still need to find at least one to get the block, but then it can be easier to get more for building something like an overgrown ruin, or a druid's den that is in harmony with nature. This won't make "new" mossy blocks, it will only work for blocks that already have a mossy variant (e.g. stone bricks and cobblestone) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 09:18 AM PST Lava that drips from stalactites should cause small amounts of damage (because it is lava), maybe they could integrate this into part of the stalactite and stalagmite caves. [link] [comments] |
The Skulker, a Deep Dark Shulker variant that acts as the Wardens “cameras” Posted: 04 Dec 2020 08:28 PM PST The Skulker, a Deeo Dark Shulker variant that acts as the Warden's "cameras" The word "warden" is most commonly used today to describe a prison warden, who guards prisoners, so the warden must be gaurding something in Minecraft. And every good prison guard needs a camera. The Skulker appears similar to the shulker, its inner body being cyan with no eyes and two antennae, its outer body being a similar texture to the skulk blocks. When closed, the two antennas stick out of its shell. The shulker stays closed until it hears a player made noise (footsteps, jumping, etc...) . When it opens, it fires a small blue projectile that travels faster than a shulker bullet but slow enough to dodge still. Upon impact with a player, it will create a loud, non lethal explosion noise that triggers the warden to locate you. It also wakes up other skulkers in the area to wake up and attack you. It will continue till you die o escape it's range. It's important to know the Skulker can only sense vibrations directly in front of it, similar to an occluded skulk sensor, so it cannot hear you build above or go behind it. This makes it easy to get past one. However, breaking the block it's connected to will cause it to teleport to the nearest block and wake up, so be careful. Killing a Skulker is difficult since you need to deal with a Warden too, but if you do it'll drop a skulk shell. Combining this with a dispenser gives you the Skulktrap, a block that fires arrows or other projectiles (Fireworks, potions) if it detects something in front of it, as long as it is stocked up. This only detects in front of it, but has a slightly longer detection reach than a skulk sensor. TLDR; Shulker variant that senses in front of it, spawns in the Deep Dark, acts a camera for the warden, have to go around it to not be seen, drops a special block that allows you to make essentially a booby trap [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 01:34 PM PST With the current theme of Terrain being updated (1.16, Nether, 1.17, Caves) I decided to make some examples of new Biome Variants to the End End Jungle Variant The End Jungle will have Chorus plant trees with a pink/purple leaf block, (I used wool) A rarer Variant of the End Jungle will have Ender Dragon hatcheries, with bedrock surroundings and an End egg in the middle. It will only spawn after you kill the Ender Dragon Image; Imgur: The magic of the Internet special mobs; None, but Shulkers and Ender Mites spawn here regularly. Obsidian tower Variant This Biome will spawn before and after you kill the Ender dragon. They are basically tall pillars of Obsidian with some Crying obsidian. This will be a fairly common variant. Image; Imgur: The magic of the Internet Special mobs; ender men, ender dragon End Flower beds This variant has many short chorus fruit plants all with flowers. Some obsidian patches too, Image; Imgur: The magic of the Internet Special mobs; shulkers everywhere End Treasure Variant Cole patches spawn here regularly, but sometimes ancient debris veins can be spotted. Image; Imgur: The magic of the Internet Special mobs; Ender men, shulkers, ender mites Pillar extreme variant All biomes posted will have a pillar variant. Waterlogged Sculk Sensors should have a larger range when the source connects to it through water Posted: 04 Dec 2020 09:53 PM PST So, in the new snapshot, Sculk Sensors were revealed to have a range of 8 blocks to receive signals from and that Sculk Sensors can be waterlogged. Sound waves naturally travel faster in water. My suggestion here is that if the Sculk Sensor is waterlogged and the source of the vibration is in the same water source as the Sculk Sensor, it should have an increased range to send the signal to the sensor. I would say move it up from 8 blocks to 16, though 15 is better for various Redstone uses. This could give interesting designs to send signals further, minimize the number of sculk sensors needed, and help with water-heavy redstone machines, which are typically difficult to build. Posted: 04 Dec 2020 10:10 AM PST Cauldrons seem to be getting an overhaul in the next update so... If we could pour a milk bucket into a cauldron, perhaps it could eventually form cheese, which could be harvested with a right click. Maybe with the addition of a heat source, but I'm no cheese scientist. As a sidenote, I've always wanted to be able to place milk source blocks from a bucket. It could have new fluid properties, like how water and lava behave differently and act in different ways. [link] [comments] |
Add an Ocean section to the advancements tab Posted: 04 Dec 2020 07:44 AM PST It happened to the nether, so why shouldn't happen with the ocean? The ocean is currently just as expansive as the nether [link] [comments] |
Tamed wolves should have colour variants Posted: 04 Dec 2020 04:46 PM PST I know that this has been suggested by many, but I think its time to bring this here (if it hasn't). Cats have many colour variants, representing different breeds. I think dogs should have different colour variants and breeds as well. Having the same colour variant for dogs but many colour variants for cats... well, seems kinda unbalanced. After taming a wolf, it should change into one of the colour variants randomly. If two tamed wolves breed, they may create a mixed breed. I also think a new advancement can be made when taming all dog variants (similar to the "A Complete Catalogue" advancement). From that, I also have a suggestion to add stray dogs into Minecraft. Since we have stray cats, why not have stray dogs? Stray dogs will spawn in villages and will sometimes chase cats but not actually kill them. What do you think? [link] [comments] |
It would be so adorable if you could place the telescope item on some type of stand as a decoration. Posted: 04 Dec 2020 12:56 PM PST I'm saying this mostly cause I'm making a space themed minecraft world so this is partly bias but STILL.Imagine if theres a stand that you can craft and then you can place it down. You can also right click on the stand with a telescope which will allow you to place the telescope on it as a decorative item.It would look amazing in observatory type builds. And you can even use it from the stand,To look at the stars! Fall speed should increase crit damage. Posted: 04 Dec 2020 06:10 AM PST It would be pretty impractical, but add a little more to combat. Edit: This could also be an enchantment, with levels scaling damage. Perhaps another axe exclusive. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 03:48 PM PST This achievment would be gotten when the player dies every possible legit survival way. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 06:42 PM PST I didn't find this in the frequent offers either.Have you ever wondered why there are no cattails in the swamps?I always thought that they are not enough, because of what the swamp looks a little...not fully. •By the way, they are fried and eaten in the Caucasus. There are species that eat even raw. •The cattail can also be used for making paper.Excellent application. Posted: 04 Dec 2020 07:24 PM PST We should have an End update. Far past the end islands there should be larger end "continents" (or small planets) - especially if there is a build limit increase- with new types of blocks/ores/caves/structures/plants/animals End Sanctuaries would be new structures that have a new type of "ruined end anchor" which is an unmovable block (can't pick up with silk touch)that can be used to set your respawn location. These should be somewhat rare. In order to activate the anchor, you will need to surround it like a conduit with a new type of block that requires a netherite pick to mine. This new block is only found in the "deep dark" equivalent of the End. Sometimes the ruined anchor could be partly completed (like ruined portals). .... other ideas include: - "normal" plants from the overworld no longer grow in the End Dimension. - new trees that require netherite axe cut. - new soil that requires netherite hoe to till and netherite shovel to dig. - new passive (flying) mobs that can be farmed for some resource [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 08:55 PM PST -Palm trees, would generate on beaches next to warm oceans and in desert oasis. -Camels, would act similar to llamas and hang out at the oasis -Scorpions, like cave spiders, but a little smaller and more poisonous. Would more often spawn in Mesas -More rocky terrain in places, and this is where scorpions would spawn -General terrain gen improvements -Add anything you think could be added! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 05:33 PM PST The Warding Crystal would be a use for amethyst crystals. The Warding Crystal would look like a glass block with copper edges and a purple cube in the center. It would be used to prevent mobs spawning within 10 blocks. In order for the Warding Crystal to work it must be in range of a beacon. When in range of a beacon the purple cube inside of the Warding Crystal glows. If a hostile mob walks into the Warding Crystal's range the mob glows and slowly takes damage. Crafting recipe: Copper Ingot: x Glass: o Crystal: + X o X o + o X o X [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Dec 2020 04:30 PM PST So you fill a glass bottle with a lava-filled cauldron and you get a bottle of lava. If you drink it, it starts you on fire. If you add gunpowder to it to make it a splash potion, you can throw it and the blocks it lands on start on fire. If you make it into a lingering potion of lava it is the same as the splash potion variant but the fire started by the potion lasts forever even if thrown on mobs or players, unless it is put out by water. Posted: 04 Dec 2020 10:49 AM PST Have all mob heads in the player at once except the player head. This means there must be a wither skeleton skull, zombie head, skeleton head, creeper head, and dragon head all in the player's inventory at the same time. [link] [comments] |
Dyed Water in Education Edition Posted: 04 Dec 2020 03:26 PM PST So, I had the idea of adding Dyed Water into Education Edition (I was thinking with the Bedrock Version in mind, but the vanilla Education Edition would also have this)! I think it would be quite useful in map making! Now, how would this work, you ask? More or less surprisingly, quite simple. All you really have to do is put a Water Bucket and the respective dye in a Compound Creator, and you'd have a Dyed Water Bucket, ready for use! It would also be possible to have a Dyed Water Bottle, by 'interacting' an Empty Bottle with any Dyed Water source, in a similar fashion of obtaining a normal Water Bottle. Dyed Water Bottles cannot be used to brew potions, unfortunately. [link] [comments] |
