    More heart variations.

What I mean by "heart variations" is (example:)when in powdered snow, hearts Change textures

1: When underwater, they should have a texture like flowing water

2: when on fire, hearts should have a burning texture

3: with the "health boost" effect, hearts should have a brighter outline

Shift-Clicking on a Note Block Lowers the Note

    Withering Shrine

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 02:11 PM PDT

    Withering Shrine

This would be a temple that spawns rarely in the Badlands biome. It would be a smallish, open air temple with a makeshift Wither statue in the middle made of Red Sand and 1-2 Skeleton Skulls, with 2 Skulls being substantially rarer. The middle block will never have a skull. (Representing the fact that a Skull must be placed last for the Wither to spawn.)

Withering Shrine (With rare double skulls)

Breaking down the Wither statue would reveal a hidden trap door beneath. A ladder leads to a treasure room below.

The treasure room would be a small room containing a Chest and a Block of Gold. Both being hidden in one of the the three piles of sand. (One being empty.)

In the middle is a Light Weighted Pressure plate highlighted by Glazed Brown Terracotta. If activated, a dropper directly above will drop Lava down. (From a Bucket of Lava.)

    Treasure Room (Ladder Perspective)

    Treasure Room (Back corner perspective)

    Sample Loot

    Loot table:

    Loot Amount Rarity (%)
    Gold Nugget 4-6 70%
    Golden Apple 1-2 40%
    Gunpowder 5-7 85%
    String 2-5 85%
    Diamond 1-2 5%
    Red Sand 4-7 80%
    Enchanted Book* 1 5%

*Any enchantment possible except Soul Speed, with higher levels being rarer

Things considered when coming up with this idea:

-The Badlands have no unique above ground structure. There are above-ground Mineshafts, but those spawn in other biomes underground.

-There are very few in game refences to the Wither. The only two being a painting and Chiseled Red Sandstone. Red Sand/Sandstone only spawns in the Badlands biome, while Smooth and Chiseled do not currently spawn naturally. (So, the player would have to create it themselves through a process.) Why is it on Chiseled Sandstone when it doesn't spawn naturally? This addresses that.

-The Desert and Badlands are considered counter parts, so a simple temple seemed fitting.

-Terracotta naturally makes up the Badlands biome, so would make sense for there to be a Glazed variant within the temple.

-Went with Skeleton Skulls so as to not rule out the normal method of obtaining Wither Skeleton Skulls, (since the player would then just have to visit a maximum of 3 to get the required amount to spawn the Wither) and to visually represent the process of creating the Wither via overworld items.

-Light Weighted Pressure Plate because if left untouched, could activate with a simple dropped item. (Also to draw similarities with the Desert Temple trap.)

-If the lava trap was triggered, you would have to leave immediately due to the small quarters. (Not enough room to effectively move around.)

..and that's my idea for a Badlands Temple! Any tips (particularly with the trap and/or Loot table) or suggestions are welcomed. :)

Dogs should make little to no noise around the warden

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 01:09 PM PDT

When a tamed dog is exploring the deep dark with you they should immediately stop barking and should follow the player real quietly, dogs should almost never be able to attract the warden. This should go with most other pets. The only time a dog should attract the warden is when it gets hurt and yelps, but even then the dog should quietly but quickly escape the warden. They should also let out small, quiet whimpers when the warden is around, but these whimpers would not be able to attract the warden.

A new underwater neutral mob, The Octopus.

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:46 PM PDT

Since the underwater depths of oceans are looking empty of life, not gonna lie, I, aldwinishere, propose an animal fit for a new update and it's another cephalopod, but better than the plain 'ol boring squids (they should have the ability to drop a new type of meat, squid rings but Mojang doesn't want them to, somehow).

The Octopus spawns at either sea floor or underwater caves, is preferably neutral unless hit, and if it were attacked, it would blast a special type of ink which blinds their enemies temporarily and if you get near a (rare) hostile one, it would attack you with its tentacles and pull you down.

They can hold (and sometimes use) items or weapons if given to them or dropped by player.

They camouflage by changing their color to suit what their environment looks like.

You could breed them by giving them any type of fish and you can befriend them to with these too.

They could spawn in all 16 different colors, but the blue/violet ones are always poisonous so beware when getting near them.

If you get near your friend octopus, it could theoretically attach itself to you while your swimming, just like parrots.

(They hate guardians and frequently attack them too, by the way.)

They need to look adorable and abominable, at the same time.

They would rarely punch fish and other underwater mobs.

Killing them would drop nothing else of value (except the items they were holding), what do you expect? You blocky monster.

Chainmail armor enchanted with Thorns deal more damage than usual

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 06:06 AM PDT

That will give Chainmail another use because it's made out of chains, or should I say it looks like razor blades

Change Horse Armour to Pet Armour

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 01:47 PM PDT

The concept is simple. Change the name of Horse Armour, and allow it to be put into dogs, cats, and/or llamas via a right click. Also, right clicking with different Pet Armour to switch it out and right clicking with an empty hand to take the armour back.

Chainmail armor should be stackable with other types of armor, instead of being a sole type of armor

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 07:16 AM PDT

What do I mean by this? Well, in medieval times, although chainmail was often worn alone, it was also worn either on top or underneath plate armor for extra protection. I propose that this feature be added to the game. Chainmail gives roughly plus 3 armor to all forms of armor, except the high tier armor (diamond and netherite, because power scaling). It also reduces damage from projectiles when stacked by 50%. The catch is, due to it being added to already heavy armor, movement speed is reduced significantly. I personally think this is a great idea, because, well, we all know chainmail in Minecraft is next to useless, and this gives it some sort of use, finally.

I'm fully open to suggestions and criticism.

    Increase Zombie Iron Droprate

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 12:38 PM PDT

Zombies have a small chance to drop iron. I think this should be increased to the same rate as copper drops from drowned, to encourage iron farming via zombies. This would hopefully reduce the popularity of iron golem farms.

    Gold veins in the nether

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 02:57 PM PDT

Here is my idea, but a simple one: larger gold veins in the nether! Since we're getting larger iron veins in the over world, why shouldn't we have larger gold veins in the nether? This would make getting lucky in the nether as a speed runner a lot more serious! The veins could be from 40 nether gold to 150 nether gold in size, and EXTREMELY rare!

    Sorting by color

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 12:48 AM PDT

When in creative mode, there should be a tab where you can sort by color (lets say you want a red colot palette so you click on sprt by color and select red) and it will show all the blocks in that clolor, simple!

    Minecraft should add shelves

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 12:58 AM PDT

When we can use the shelves we can put many things in there like a few kind of blocks and they turn into a tiny version sitting on the shelf (if u argue that this doesn't make sense then tell me how blocks literally float in the sky).

How to fix "Locked my another instance of Minecraft" for 1.17?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 04:08 PM PDT

How to fix "Locked my another instance of Minecraft" for 1.17?

Sorry if i post this on this subreddit but in the original r/minecraft nobody answers

Hello, yesterday i had to reset my PC due to a system failure, luckily i made a backup for my folders including minecraft saves. When i re-installed Minecraft again i tried to play with one of my worlds but the save wasn't even in the list. I looked at my save folder and i noticed how every single file inside of it was "renamed" with a data (see the screenshot as a reference). After renaming my .dat file by deleting those dates the game said: "Locked my another instance of Minecraft".

    UPDATE:

After removing the session.lock file and renaming the .dat one, the game allowed me to enter in my world but there were no buildings anymore.

Can you please help me fix this issue?

A new NBTab called "checkUpdate" or something like that

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 04:29 AM PDT

Basically this is defaulted to true, and if set to false on a block, it will not react to block update triggers. This way we could make eg a free standing 1x1 bubblevator without the risk of updating every source block resulting in breaking a rather fancy and stylish addition which would need to be reset every time

Rock-Solid Storage (& some advancement-posting tips at the end)

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 08:47 AM PDT

    Advancement Characteristics

    In-game description:

Craft one of any mineral block and craft it back into its original mineral

    Type: Normal advancement

    Parent: Acquire hardware

    Category: Minecraft

    Rewards (xp points): None

    Why add this advancement?

I think this advancement could teach the player how to store their minerals more efficiently by crafting them into blocks without loosing any of the items.

I've noticed multiple players who waste storage slots because they don't seem to be aware of this nice feature so a basic advancement like this could refresh that.

How do you complete the advancement?

The advancement is achieved pretty much like the in-game description says, just choose any of the following minerals to craft into a block of 9, and then uncraft that block into 9 of the mineral:

    • Coal
    • Copper
    • Diamond
    • Emerald
    • Gold
    • Iron
    • Lapis Lazuli
    • Netherite
    • Quartz
    • Redstone

A few tips for making advancement posts

Advancements are not to be just this funny name you came up with for some random thing (leave that to achievements). Advancements in Minecraft tend to go by 2 main purposes:

    • Teach the player something new about the game, it can be something interesting, but most times I would suggest something useful instead. (Example: Zombie Doctor)
    • Encourage the player to interact with a certain aspect/feature of the game in a way that may otherwise not be encountered. (Example: A sticky situation)

Advancements posts quality has been a growing problem in this subreddit as it is becoming more and more 'funny easter egg' which contribute nothing to the purpose of advancements.

What I usually like doing, is to come up with the idea of what to do first, and how that's gonna be teaching something new or encouraging a certain interaction. And only then I try to come up with an according name for it.

I hope you liked the idea and that this can be useful for next time you wanna brainstorm for a new advancement, thanks for reading, have a nice day ;)

    Hide helmets for better recognizability

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 02:21 PM PDT

Was inspired by watching the latest Hermitcraft episode of GoodTimesWithScar. Watch yourself to see what inspired me.

Anyway, one thing that I find annoying is that when wearing armour, the head of your skin is a lot less recognizable. Adding the option to hide helmets would be amazing. There could be multiple ways of approaching this:

    1. Enchantment, pretty straightforward
    2. Various headgear that covers less than a regular helmet and can be combined with the regular helmet for the usual protection
    3. Combine any helmet with a potion of invisibility in the smithing table.

Lastly I would like to add that it would maybe be good if there was still a faint outline of the helmet visible. Something transparent maybe just so that you can see the difference in combat.

This actually gives me another idea: This feature could be applied to all armour pieces but lose invisibility temporarily if the player has dealt or taken damage during the last couple of seconds.

This is just to show more personality, especially during the later stages of the game when most people just run around in netherite armour + elytra anyway. I see how this could be abused for PvP and make invisibility potions a lot less risky. What do you think of this feature?

Some form of standards on horses

    Posted: 28 Jun 2021 10:29 PM PDT

    Implementation

Whether it be through adding a new item called a standard, or just having a different visual for banners when holding a banner on a horse, I think a standard could be a cool vanity/roleplay item.

    Why?

I think the more reasons to use horses the better, since late game they have almost no use. Also, it could be another cool use for banners and banner designs.

    Example
