Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #99: Dungeon Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:40 AM PDT LAST WEEK'S THEME: FLOWER VILLAGEGoldWe don't always say that bigger is better. The bigger someone builds something, the more they have to detail and make nice. This build is certainly big, but everything in it is well built and well planned out (at least it seems). I love how everything ties together. The houses with their own flower gardens feel connected because of the paths between them. If there wasn't a path, or there was too much room, it would feel like looking at multiple builds which aren't related. But the paths, the walls and the nature makes this feel like a village. Great build! SilverI really loved this build and how it showed us what happens to each colour. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for small details in builds. The coral in the "barrels" using trapdoors was an excellent idea (I think others may have used it too, in which case I say good job!) and the hanging banners with their respective colours was another great touch. I also really liked those vats with water in the blue hut. Not sure if they were supposed to be water or dyed blue water, but either way, it worked really well! Good job! BronzeI really loved the layout of this village. Mainly the cliffs actually. I've said this in the past and I'll repeat this again: I love nature builds. And for some reason, cliffs with drooping leaves never fail to impress me. Remember, there are more judges, so this isn't a cheat code for builds, however as I usually write these up, I will always give a good review to some cliffs and drooping leaves :). Okay where was I? The flower farm in front of the cliff was a fantastic way to fill in that gap and I really liked how you curved the flowers. Made it more interesting but it wasn't chaotic in a way that I wouldn't think it was a farm. For your dye factory, I personally didn't like the exterior that much, though I understand why you chose bricks since I immediately knew it was a factory. I did however love the interior of it. Good build!! Honourable mentions Many candidates for this week. Apologies if you didn't make an honorable mention, we had a tough time even deciding the top 3. To anyone who didn't see last week's builds, do yourself a favor and go back to last week's thread for some more great builds! IntroductionWith the release of Minecraft Dungeons a couple weeks ago, I thought this time around, we may want to try and make some dungeons in the base game and see what we've got! I have yet to play the game, which means I don't really know all of the aspects of it, so we're going to keep this challenge simple. Simple as in we're building our own dungeons, which don't have to have anything to do with Minecraft: Dungeons. So let's get building! Inspiration ChallengeDungeon Build a dungeon. It can be built underground and below ground. It must have an entrance. NOTE: This entrance can still be underground (if you enter it from a cave underground) It must have a "trap room". The trap doesn't need to work with redstone, though it can. The trap can be as simple as some zombies in the room. It must have a boss room. And it must have some treasure or loot, either in a separate room or in one of those previous rooms. Rules
2. Vanilla only No mods that add new blocks or items are allowed. No resource packs are allowed. Any minecraft version is allowed and you may build with custom terrain, creative mode, world edit or etc as long as it doesn't add any new blocks to the game. Shader pictures can be added in a SEPERATE album as bonus pictures. None of those pictures will be accounted for when we judge the entries. Only vanilla screenshots. 3. Optifine is allowed if it doesn't change the textures. You can use optifine all you want, as long as you don't have better grass, connected textures, etc enabled. 4. Any version of minecraft i.e. PS3, Xbox 360, Pocket Edition. 5. No preexisting builds We're going with the honour system here but if anything had already been built before the start of the contest, don't submit it. 6. Build teams are allowed There may be more that one person building for a challenge but only one person may submit their entry with their account 7. New textures are allowed The new versions of Jappa's textures are allowed to be used along with old legacy textures. Points and leaderboardsLink to sheet. The leaderboards are on the 2nd page For points and judging: There is only 3 winners each week. Each participant will get 2 points for submitting their entry. There are honourable mentions but they do not get any extra points.
