    THEME: Farming

From new crops to new tools, how would you improve farming in Minecraft? Maybe you thought of a new mechanic? How about an End crop?

    IN OTHER NEWS:

One of our members, /u/williamofdallas, has started a mega project of collecting all suggestions that made it to the TMS in a spreadsheet, cataloging them, giving them a weighted rating relative to the amount of users at the time, etc. It's a very interesting project and he needs help going over the list. You can learn more about it in this post. If you'd like to help, click here

We're also gonna start posting the changes to the FPS/Rejected/Implemented lists in the TMS. Here it is:

    Implemented ideas

    • Breaking/opening a chest in Bastions angers all nearby piglins, not just a few of them

    • Breaking a block underneath a Bastion chest will aggro Piglins

    Rejected ideas

    • Chains being used to craft chainmail

    • Crawling animation/hotkey

    • Tree bark item

    FPS list

    • Firework seller villager profession

    • Lava fishing

Finally, here's your monthly reminder to please read the FPS list before making an idea, just to be sure your idea isn't already on there.

Carry on, all you wonderful people!

<>If there was a suggestion that was missed, please let us know below. Despite our best efforts, we haven't yet reached infallible perfection just yet (we're still trying, impossible as it might be), so some mistakes are still within the realm of possibility.<>

    Honorable 10 Suggestions:

<> All Monthly Suggestion Posts are cataloged on the subreddit's TMS Catalog Wikipage.<>

Note: The comments are not for posing ideas unless they pertain to the feedback theme. If an idea crops up in a discussion, then that's fine, but for posting a suggestion for the community and the developers, that is what the "submit" button at the top right is for.

Finally, you can see some suggestions that have actually been implemented on the Successful Suggestions Wikipage! Maybe one of these will make it on there someday! If you have a suggestion that actually has been implemented in some form or another, please let us know so that we can update the list. Thanks!

Until next time folks, have a fantastic day/night, and take care! :D

Increase build height and ground level

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 05:10 AM PDT

Right now, the Minecraft sea level is at y=63, and the build limit at y=256, giving us 195 blocks above ground to build.

As the Mountain Update is planned for 1.17, and a lot of people are also talking about a Cave Update, why not increase the size of both the underground and the Overworld build Limit!

It could be doubled (sea level at y=126, and height limit at y=512) which would give us a lot more space to build Giant and Awesome stuff, and allow Mojang to make moutains generate higher!

Also, 126 blocks underground would give a lot of space for giant caves, or wathever could be the Cave Update if it were to happen!

I hope you guys love the idea, because I would love to see that added into Minecraft!!

Also please go check out my Minecraft building channel down in comments!

    Fix block colours on maps.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 04:33 AM PDT

The colour palette for bedrock edition is extremely limited when making map-arts. Blocks that have same colour name but in game have completely different colours look same on maps Ex. Cyan wool and cyan terracotta have completely different colours but on map they look the same, This is extremely limiting while making map arts and should be one of the parity feature since on java this is not a problem.

    Iron Golems and poppys

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 05:44 AM PDT

This won't be a game changing thing, just a little detail. If you heal an iron golem, there is a chance of iron golem giving a poppy to you, and it won't leave your back until you pick poppy from it's hand. Another idea is, if you drop a poppy to an iron golem, it will always pick it up, and sometimes it will hold it and try to give it to child villager, if there is not, an adult one. Like I said, this won't be a game changing thing, just to make the game feel more alive. Thanks for reading my suggestion, have a good day!

    The creative update

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:52 PM PDT

Creative has been in Minecraft for a very long time now and the only new thing that's come with it has been commands, and those aren't really creative exclusive, but instead cheat exclusive. Some ideas I have are:

Custom Trades: With villagers and piglins available, a nice feature would be being able to edit their trades and for villagers, professions. The system would work by allowing you to select from slots and replacing it with either an item in your inventory or creative menu, then being able to select a price

Pallet Maker: For all of the creative builders, a new creative exclusive item would allow you to pick from 8-10 blocks and add them to a pallet, allowing you to experiment with different block types.

Structure Creator: This would allow you to place down a structure ranging from temples to dungeons to villages. This can let players have a certain structure in their land without copying it block for block

Destruction Staff: I think I heard something about this but I'm not sure so I'm going to add it, this staff would clear a 20 x 20 x 20 area in the direction you hold it, this could make it easy for destroying structures or hollowing out mountains. A creation staff that you can choose a block for would do the same but fill in blocks

Boss Spawner: Like barrier blocks, these would appear invisible until you holds them. When interacted with they allow you to set a boss between the Dragon or Wither. If a redstone signal comes in contact with them they will spawn

Invisible Plate: Like barrier blocks they also appear invisible until you hold them, they would work just like a pressure plate, they just are invisible

Potion Maker: This would be a brewing stand with purple lines instead of orange, this lets you make custom potions, with effect and color selectors

Minor Changes: Barrier Blocks and Command Blocks added creative inventory

    That's all! Hope you enjoyed!

Shear rose bushes to get individual roses.

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 09:40 AM PDT

Culturally, roses have a classy and romantic atmosphere to them. They have more impact than poppies. Also, rose bushes are too chunky for minimal decoration.

    Enchanted Enderpearl (rare loot item)

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:02 AM PDT

The Enchanted Enderpearl is twice as rare as a golden Apple in loot, and has increased Functionality to the normal Enderpearl. It cannot be crafted.

Instead of throwing the pearl, when right clicked, you will go into a sort of spectator mode, the difference being it's only your perspective, your body will still be there and be able to be interacted with, when in this mode, you have exactly 8 seconds to fly where you want, and upon the timer ending you will be teleported there and back in your body.

The only other difference is that you can't go through bedrock, so you can't get over the nether roof or into the void or anything

The rarity of this item very much counteracts any shenanigans that you will be able to do with it, some examples being flying underground to find structures, into somebody's base, etc, this could obviously be solved by not letting the player fly through all blocks, but that does take away a lot of functionality, so I would say no.

Thank you to u/Ramble21_Gaming for letting me know it's too rare!

    Warped Salad

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:39 AM PDT

The Warped Forest currently has nothing that makes it too interesting so I am proposing a food source that could be made using the vegetation in the Warped Forest. Warped Salad would be made with a bowl, Warped Fungi, Twisted Vines and Warped Roots. It would give 1 1/2 hunger points since all the materials needed to make are in the same biome. In addition it would scare away Hoglins since you made it using Warped Fungi. There would also be a Crimson Salad that would instead attract Hoglins considering they most likely eat Crimson Forest vegetation.

Performance improvements in java edition (multi-threading).

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 05:31 AM PDT

    The Problem:

Minecraft Java Edition performance is subpar, especially when considering the fact that it's not a graphically intensive game. Just from personal experience when I'm messing around, whether it be on a custom server I'm hosting and writing plugins for or I'm playing survival with my siblings, there are some pretty bad lag spikes on everything from my 10 core 20 thread system with a (relatively) new top of the end graphics card, to my brothers 4 core laptop with integrated graphics. This is a problem for servers too. Many servers rely on a lobby system and multiple different computers, each working with a small cluster of players, servers that don't do this are stuck in older versions of Minecraft with less features, and less for the computer to worry about.

    The Solution:

The quickest fix for this is to optimize the existing processes further and further, using lower complexity algorithms and code to get things done, whatever these things may be. A different fix Mojang went with was to completely rewrite Minecraft in C++ from the ground up. If Minecraft was coded the same, using the same algorithms and same data structures (or their closest alternatives in C++), Bedrock would've seen a substantial performance boost, but not as large of a performance boost as it has right now.

The best solution is to take advantage of CPU multi-threading. This would involve rewriting most of Minecraft Java's code, rededicating different processes which were all taken care of with one CPU thread to multiple. Just splitting the tasks to two threads would drastically increase performance, but you can get as many threads as you want to handle different subprocesses, although it's highly recommended that developers stick to the most popular setups, which would be anywhere from 4-12 threads.

    Why:

The last single-thread desktop CPU was released 10 years ago. The AMD Sempron 145.html) was released on May 10, 2010. Minecraft Bedrock takes advantage of it and there are considerably less lag spikes and issues on Bedrock. There are bugs, but those are completely separate and are probably a result of C++ being a nightmare when it comes to debugging but I'm not an insider at Mojang so I have no idea. No laptops or Desktops released over the past decade only have a single-thread. These days, the most common setups have between 4 and 12 threads, (depending on whether the setup is an Intel or AMD setup), and 4 and 6 cores. There is a considerable, but small, proportion of desktops which run anywhere from 8 cores to 64 cores, and anywhere between 8 threads and 128 threads. In the near future (ie 2-3 years from now) most desktops and laptops will be running 6 core systems, which could have 6 or 12 threads depending on whether or not multithreading is enabled. It's an efficient way to increase performance and taking advantage of existing system resources.

    The Pros:

    • The performance of Java edition would see a substantial improvement, if done correctly, I would expect a tripling in FPS or ability to increase render distance.
    • Because more tasks would be dedicated to more CPU threads, there would be a smaller emphasis on core clocks, meaning that your computer could potentially run cooler/quieter and be less stressed by Minecraft, and computers with low clock speeds will perform much, much better.
    • On servers, more players will be able to play on one map at a time, increasing the number of people in PVP games, and on multiplayer survival server, also many single-world servers will be able to update to newer versions of the game, since many of them are stuck on older versions because of the high lag caused by newer versions of minecraft (1.13+).
    • Lag spikes will probably be reduced or completely eliminated.

    The Cons:

    • There will be many difficult decisions to be taken, and they alone will take a lot of time and manpower. It's not easy to make decisions about which processes will run on the same thread and which will run on separate threads.
    • A large amount Minecraft Java's base code will have to be rewritten. This will also take a really long time, definitely several months, maybe over a year. Updates will probably slow down or completely stop during the rewriting of the code.
    • There will be many, many more bugs which will all take a really long time to iron out.
    • Addons for Minecraft Java like optifine, hacked clients, and forge may have to be completely rewritten. Emphasis on may. I don't have access to Minecraft's source code, and the decisions that minecraft developers will take during the process will be what decides this. This changes could be minimal, but they could also be problematic, and it depends from addon to addon.

So, what do you guys think? Personally I think it's almost necessary, even if it means an entire year without any major updates, because lag spikes are frequent, and the game sometimes becomes unplayable.

    Ultraviolet Torches/Lanterns

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:10 PM PDT

Crafted when combining a torch or lantern with a chorus flower(s). When placed they would emit a dim purple light. Any mob that would usually burn in the sunlight (Zombie, Skeleton, Zombie Villager, Drowned, Phantom) would burn when in the vicinity of the torch or lantern even if its night. as an additional feature, it could turn spiders in the vicinity friendly.

Nametagged mobs shouldn’t despawn on peaceful

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:19 PM PDT

As a player who likes to make and utilize automatic farms, certain mobs can be a vital thing for me, especially nametagged ones that help function certain farms (like an endermite for an enderman farm). But sometimes I'll need to turn a world into peaceful mode to reset mob spawns and such, but of course I can't do that if I have nametagged mobs that help with my other farms, because then they'll despawn.

Those certain nametagged mobs should instead behave like mobs to a player in creative mode, not aggressive (and maybe only aggressive if the player attacks).

    Friendly illagers

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:09 AM PDT

If you assist in letting pillagers win a raid such as killing villagers, defeating the golem, healing them then a buff called "twisted respect" will be applied and can't be taken away with milk. This buff makes Illagers friendly and even allows ravages to be ridden being the first attack mount in the game. However doing this makes it so that: 1: villager prices go drastically high for even the cheapest if items 2: the iron golem is always mad 3: villagers will occasionally budge you doing 1 point of damage The only way of curing twisted respect is by raiding a pillager camp (a new structure) and defeating all inside which would be challenging for all who enter with great rewards Tell me what you think of this idea I spent a lot of time thinking about it and I'd like to hear opinions.

    Ender truffle

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:58 PM PDT

Ender truffle could be found as sprouts growing in end stone it has 7 growth stages. (I'll come back to that later)

When fully grown can be picked up to give you 1-2 truffles. When eaten gives you 3 hunger bars and 4 saturation there is a 20% chance that you will get levitation effect for 2 seconds.

It can be brewed with awkward potions into levitation potions : Default : 30 seconds level 1 Redstone : 45 seconds level 1 Glowstone : 15 seconds level 2

When it is in the first stage of growth if walked on gives you levitation 2 for 1 second, second stage to growth levitation 2 for 2 seconds, You see where this is going.

Its color is a darkish purple (not too dark just a little bit) it can be seen on the sides of the end stone and on top it will have a 3d model (similar to other crops) it would be 4 pixels high and would look like real truffle.

A new use for gold and chain mail:

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:30 PM PDT

Chain mail is currently super useless. It's way too rare and by the time you find a full set you would probably be near the end of the game.

This is why I suggest a new fusion item which combines chain mail and leather armor in the smithing table. It would produce a armor piece called the Cloak Fastener (name ideas please). With this item you can put a banner of your choice on the character's back as a sort of cosmetic item. Wearing a cloak would also increase the strength of any nearby enchantment tables.

Doing this with horse armor would also allow banners on horses, as well as the ability to mount an ender chest.

Why though? Well, since most players usually go for iron armor first, then diamond/netherite, this would give a sort of cosmetic item as a thing to do in the end game when enchanting items.

If you have any ideas for this suggestion, please tell me!

Also yes I realize I titled it wrong sorry

    Corn

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 02:35 PM PDT

Corn could be grown and would have 4 stages, a small stick of grass, a larger stick of grass, a wider stick of grass, and then finally the corn plant. Corn could be used in lots of ways, if you regularly harvest the whole plant then you get the whole thing, not just corn, and once fully grown you can place it on grass, but it won't grow. You could gather corn by picking it and it would regrow on tilled soil. You can find seeds in villager houses, minor loot in dungeons or sand temples, or by killing zombies as a rare drop. Corn can also have the kernels taken off of them, by putting corn in a crafting table. You would get 4 kernels per corn (balancing, you can't just have 800 each) and they would stack to 16. Kernels can then be placed in a furnace and made into popcorn, which only restores 1/2 hunger. Corn would also be a good crop for decorative purposes, which is why I allowed it to be placed on grass, this can lead for corn mazes and such, and you can even walk through it, therefore it isn't a bother to walk around, like real corn. So yeah, corn would be cool
