We need a lighting update! No, not dynamic lighting! Posted: 14 Oct 2020 07:06 AM PDT I enjoy building big. One of the things I enjoy doing the most is building large, tall halls and rooms underground. Bu there has always been a problem: Lighting. To light up a large build you have to hide your light sources in the ground; The light from the roof does not light up the floor. This can, in certain situations, be quite ugly, such as when I have to cover the glowstone on my stone floor with grey carpets (Ugh!). This is what I suggest; Add new special light sources that go further. No, they shouldn't be stronger, but they still have to reach further. Basically add light sources that have the normal strength of torches (maybe slightly weaker), but instead of decreasing by 1 light level for every block, it decreases one for every, say 4-5 blocks. This would allow light sources put in high roofs to actually reach and light up the ground. I'd say this is especially important because now, with the cave update, lots of people are going to build underground. Edit: To those talking about RTX, Optifine and shaders, no, its not the same thing. What I want is light sources that can reach the floor from 20-30 blocks up, and actually prevent spawning, without the light source being super powerful close up. [link] [comments]
Sweeping Edge shouldn't affect tamed mobs (Cats/Ocelots, Dogs/Wolfs, Horses, etc) Posted: 14 Oct 2020 02:27 PM PDT I'm not sure if anyone's said this before, so pardon me if they have, but it hurts to accidentally slash your pet with a sharpness diamond sword, when you meant to kill whatever mobs you were fighting, especially when you like having a pack of dogs. At least a gamerule to turn that off would be nice. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2020 01:42 PM PDT Summary Copper bars would be a new 1.17 block, similar to iron bars, that can both be used as decoration and for redstone. General Copper bars are crafted with six copper ingots in a quantity of 16. They behave very similarly to iron bars, and can be used as a decorative block. The texture of the bars is the same as the copper block, as also oxidates. Oxidation can be stopped with the same method as for copper blocks (Mojang has already confirmed this, without giving any details on how it will be done). Conductivity Mechanic The copper bars are designed to work with the lightning rod, also made out of copper. When hit by a lightning bolt, the rods should emit a comparator signal strength of 15, and copper bars allow you to "move" this electric energy around. The idea is that electricity would be conducted without losing any strength through the copper bars, so you could have a lightning rod on top of a bar tower and still be able to take the output all the way down at the bottom. However, if the copper bars are "connected" to another block (touching on the sides) the electric power level would lose one unit, meaning that if the bars are connected to a 10 blocks high wall the signal strength all the way at the bottom would only be 5. The conductivity of the copper should also decrease as its oxidation states go on, barely conducting any power when it reaches the green state. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2020 06:40 AM PDT I have an idea for a achievement. It's called Chestception. You would get it from putting a chest in a shulker box, the shulker in a ended chest, and then putting the ender chest in a bundle. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2020 06:11 AM PDT I've had a suggestion for a while but I just got 10 comment karma ;-; anyways, the grizzly bear could be a new mob in the spruce and mountain biomes. The bear would be hostile and would take the honey from beehives. The bear would drop its fur that you can make into a coat. This coat would help you with another new feature, the cold. If you go into the mountains without a coat, you will start to have a slower and weaker version of the wither effect. It's basically hypothermia. I thought that it would drink the honey just like the panda eats the bamboo. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2020 02:51 PM PDT We have Horse Armor for some reason, but we don't have dog armor. I would like to be able to take my dog places with me and not have to worry that he will be instantly killed by a creeper while I'm not looking. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2020 09:30 AM PDT You have sugar, eggs and wheat, but you don't use them together. Why?? Because any food is better then cake, so what if we add something to it, but what could it be? Introducing honey cake just click twice with your honey bottle on your baked cake to make it extra ehmm honey like, But I hear you ask how is it better? Wel beecause you can eat it even after your no longer hungry, cause honey cake got this special ingredient called honey, which is so good you want to eat it even after your no longer hungry. Viking Horn/Bugle - 1.17 Goat Horn Posted: 14 Oct 2020 08:45 AM PDT In the presentation of update 1.17, Mojang will add the Copper, Mountain Goat and the Cave Warden. So I had some ideas that could connect the two, why not use the goat's horn bugle to produce a loud sound and confuse the Warden? Some ideas:

A crystal eye that marks treasures hidden in blocks! Posted: 14 Oct 2020 12:36 PM PDT After i saw the archeology thingy i thought it would be cool if there was a small chance any block could have a treasure hidden inside them. And then i saw they had not said much about the uses of crystals, so here is the idea: The crystal eye is crafted with an eye of ender and four crystals, once rightclicked in your hotbar it will make treasures in the ground glow. and thats pretty much it lol, happy caving! Posted: 14 Oct 2020 02:29 PM PDT Now, with the Cave and Cliffs update coming, water will play a role in it. For the cliffs, there will most likely be waterfalls. Right now, the way that most people make the illusion of water crashing down is by using white stained glass blocks and panes. Maybe there could be a particle for this.Basically, there could be a white version of the dripping water particle that hangs one block diagonal up in front of where the water crashes down. Posted: 14 Oct 2020 06:25 AM PDT FullSizeRender.jpg I think that oranges would be a cool new fruit to the game. They would be in mini trees in the savanna biome. The oranges would also be at the savanna villages that you can buy. A farmer type villager would sell the oranges. They would also grow them in the farms. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2020 07:22 AM PDT I saw this idea in a mod and I think it would be a really good thing in vanilla. Like who wants to have a really loud farm that you have to turn down the game sounds every time you go there. The way it would work is you would need 4 of these "soundproofing" blocks (still working on the name suggestions are appreciated,) and each one would muffle the sound be a fifth as to not completely negate the sound. As for crafting, I was thinking something along the lines of some wool and a copper ingot to give it another use. Thoughts, comments, ideas, concerns? [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2020 06:44 AM PDT I think that the Polar bear needs better animations. The animations would be similar to the panda but it would eat fish instead of bamboo. [link] [comments]
Add Black Rhinos to the game to raise awareness. Posted: 14 Oct 2020 01:56 PM PDT The black rhinoceros is a "critically endangered" species according to the IUCN. There are believed to be only 5,000 of them remaining in the wild. So, adding them to the game, and having Mojang/Microsoft encourage its players to donate to the WWF, or sending them a portion of each profit from people buying the game, would almost certainly make a noticeable diference, and a good one. They're cool animals, but extremely hostile and aggressive, so in-game that could be reflected pretty well. In-game they would live in the savanna biome. I don't have anything else to say really, so have a good day, wherever you are! [link] [comments]
Beacons activated with a Netherite Ingot should offer Fire Resitance Posted: 14 Oct 2020 01:48 PM PDT Beacons with a full 9x9 base (made out of any material) that are activated with a netherite ingot allow the player to get a permanent source of fire resistance. The idea behind this is that netherite is a very expensive and late-game item, therefore it should have an additional use when activating a beacon. Netherite comes from the depth of the nether and is resistant to explosions and fire, this is why I believe that it makes sense that it allow the player to get fire resistance. In late game situations, players often have an easy access to fire resistance potion, especially with the "new" piglin bartering. Fire resistance would be offered similarly to regeneration, in complement of another effect. [link] [comments]
Glowsquid giving glowing effect to other nearby mobs Posted: 14 Oct 2020 07:07 AM PDT Just as the title says, the glowsquid should give other mobs the glowing effect (like the [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2020 07:46 AM PDT This potion would be good for use in the deep dark all noises you now make don't make vibrations (pretty much works as an invisibility potion for wardens) [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2020 02:33 PM PDT My idea is that if a blaze is killed by a snowball, water, or rain, then it would drop sticks instead of blaze rods. Basically, you won't need to code a whole new rng thing. Mojang only needs to replace blaze rods with sticks if the blaze was killed by snow/water. This would make sense because a stick is just like a blaze rod without fire or blaze-y things. [link] [comments]
The deep dark biome should be below the bedrock Posted: 13 Oct 2020 10:59 PM PDT I thought it would be underwhelming if you could just dig down for a couple minutes and reach it. What if instead you had to find scattered cave entrance through the bedrock to access it? It would also prevent you from digging straight up to the surface if you face danger which would make it extra scary because you absolutely need to find your way back through the warden infested caves. And visually the new skulk block fits so well with the void below, you could even add structures related to it like void ravines, underworld stalactites, upside down skulk trees maybe floating islands with endermens as some kind of link between the end and the overworld [link] [comments]
Powered Lodestones Attract Items Posted: 14 Oct 2020 09:15 AM PDT Lodestones are way too expensive for their own good right now. Nobody needs a directed compass when we all just use coordinates anyway. Here's what I think is a more valuable use for the things. Lodestones are supposed to be kinda magnetic, right? So if you apply (redstone) power to them, they should attract items in an AoE. Lodestones are expensive, late-game blocks so players would really have to work hard for them, and think of the uses in automation! Or imagine perfectly timing powered lodestones to create an item/entity railgun! Maybe the orientation of the lodestone could even be used to determine whether it attracts or repels items?? I think it'd be dope. That is all. edit: if we really could orient lodestones like magnetic dipoles, this could be a fantastic opportunity to use minecraft for education about complicated magnetic fields and even particle accelerators! Copper Blocks make trumpet note block sound Posted: 13 Oct 2020 04:24 PM PDT When you place a copper block under a note block it will make a trumpet sound. This is because trumpets are made of brass, and brass is an alloy containing copper. I have always wanted a trumpet sound with note blocks, and this is the perfect time to add one. Stalactites should also generate in the Nether Posted: 14 Oct 2020 09:22 AM PDT I've seen people suggest a few ideas on updating the caves within the Nether for the Caves and Cliffs Update, and I think there's one small addition that could add some small but extra atmosphere to the Nether; Stalactites. Technically, the Nether already has some, but they are blocky and nothing like what are being added into the Cave Update. Adding a Red Variant of Stalactites to the surfaces of the Nether would have add some atmosphere to the dimension without adding much. [link] [comments] |
