    Endritch Horror (New End Mob)

I've noticed a recent rise in End-related posts, most of them coming with some great, albeit vague suggestions. Because I agree that the End sorely needs some new content I decided to make an indepth idea for a new End mob

Introducing the Endritch Horror (Name is WIP and yes it's an end/eldritch pun)

I did a quick pixelart of the concept first, there's also a model further down

    Appearance

The Endritch Horror is somewhat the End equivalent of the Ghast. It's a large flying mob that threatens the player with ranged attacks. Appearance wise, I tried to go for something unlike anything else in minecraft to emphasize the strange aspect of the End. The Endritch Horror resembles a floating ribcage the colour of endstone with a tough carapace on its back made of a material similar to ender pearls. It has no facce or extremities save to long tentacle-like appendages hanging down in front. The inside of its ribcage would flicker with a light purple glow when passive.

A WIP model I made in blockbench to show how it could look. The textures are placeholders.

    Combat

If the Endritch Horror senses a player far away, it immediately becomes aggressive and approaches. When it is in a ~70 block radius of the player and has a clear line of sight, it begins charging its main attack: A heavy laser beam shot from the inside of the ribcage. This beam does high damage and can destroy weaker blocks (i.e. chorus plants) and bypasses shields. Visually, I imagine something like a broader beacon beam going straight for the player. Although the attack is nearly fatal, it can be dodged during chargeup time.

If the player is too close (less than ~7 block radius), for example if approaching the mob with elytra, it resorts to a weaker radial attack, shooting small arcs of energy at the player.

The Endritch Horror doesn't have a lot of HP, probably something like 15-17 but it is however hard to hit due to its flying pattern and limited hitbox. Furthermore, the carapace on its back reflects projectiles by simply teleporting them away (kinda opposite of what Endermen do)

Additionally, it might be a cool effect if an attacking Endritch Horror aggrevates all nearby Endermen to the player

    Drops

The Endritch Horrors main purpose is to provide challenge, not loot so initially I didn't think it should drop anything but then I had another idea. If a player manages to kill an Endritch Horror over firm ground (so the drops don't fall into void), it has a chance to drop a piece of its carapace. A few of these pieces combined with some other rare end loot (probably obtained from end cities or something) can be crafted into a trident type spear weapon. The main feature of this weaon would be to teleport the player to wherever it lands unless it hits a mob.

    Why?

The purpose of the Endritch Horror, besides adding much needed variety to the End, is to fill out an empty niche in the End islands: A threat to flying players and in general. There really isn't much danger in the End apart from Shulkers since Endermen are easily avoided. The Endritch Horror adds a new foe to be vary of and improves the ambience.

Any feedback or further ideas would be highly appreciated

    Shield enchantments

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 03:49 AM PST

The shield in my opinion needs some special enchantments. Here are my ideas for some:

    Lightweight

Has 3 levels. Decreases the movement speed decline when you are blocking. Lvl 1 is 10%, lvl 2 is 20%, and lvl 3 is 30%.

    Spiked

Has 5 levels. Deals damage to a player that touches the shield whilst you are blocking with it. With no armour, lvl 1 deals half a heart, lvl 2 deals 1 heart, lvl 3 deals 1.5 hearts, lvl 4 deals 2 hearts and lvl 5 deals 2.5 hearts. Mutually exclusive from bouncy.

    Bouncy

Has 5 levels. Bounces a player who touches the shield whilst you are blocking with it. With no armour, lvl 1 bounces back 0.25 blocks, lvl 2 bounces back 0.5 blocks, lvl 3 bounces back 1 block, lvl 4 bounces back 1.5 blocks, and lvl 5 bounces back 2 blocks. Mutually exclusive from spikey.

    Double Fence Gate

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 10:42 AM PST

I feel like it would be so much easier if when you place 2 fence gates together, it becomes one big gate. It will be so much easier to move your horse though it as well as other big animals.

I don't know if this has already been suggested but it would be useful to add to the game

"Execute if" command gives a redstone comparator output based on the command output number

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 05:48 AM PST

When the "testfor" command was replaced in favor of "execute" we lost the option to send a redstone signal with a strength based on the number of entities/blocks detected. Since "Execute if" actually does output a number, why can't that be read by a redstone comparator as it used to be until 1.13?

'Cat' being played in a jukebox will cause creepers and phantoms to avoid the jukebox

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 11:07 PM PST

What if playing cat in a jukebox will make creepers avoid the jukebox. This could be used for new and veteran players who don't like handling creepers and don't have access to cats. Cat can be found in dungeons so it would make sense for new players to find them without having to use skeletons to kill creepers. Similarly playing pigstep will cause piglins and maybe piglin brutes to not attack you and dance instead. (can re use the victory dance from killing a hoglin)

    Greenlight-torches and lanterns etc.

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 12:47 PM PST

If you light a fire on a copper block, it should turn green. This has already been suggested, but I thought I should expand on it. If you add a copper nugget to a torch in a crafting table, you get a greenfire-torch, which is just a green torch, just like soulfire-torches are just blue torches. These could then be used to make greenfire-lanterns.

This could be useful for decorative purposes, the same way soulfire-items are useful. It also makes sense because you can make green flames with copper irl.

    Soulfire Blazes (Nether addition)

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 09:20 AM PST

A while back, I brainstormed ideas for a new mob for the Nether in an immense comment thread. Allow me to introduce it to you.

    Appearance:

The Soulfire Blaze has a skeleton head floating in a cloud of dark blue smoke. It is a variant of normal Blazes, and should be depicted as such. The Blaze Rods on this mob are, of course, blue soul flame rods with souls on the tips.

    Drops:

This mob drops Soul Rods, which can be refined into Soul Powder. These items are used to increase the potency of potions brewed by players—specifically doubling the durations of time-effect potions and magnifying the effect of instant potions by 1.6x. Soulfire Blazes are frequently sought out by potion experts. Experience drops would most likely be rather high, as they are a bit of a pain to kill.

    Spawns:

Exclusively in the Nether. Originally, they would have been placed in bastion remnants, but as Piglins don't like blue fire, they have to appear somewhere else. In addition to spawning very rarely in Soul Sand Valley biomes, they would most likely show up in some kind of new structure—maybe one tied to its uses in potion brewing. Maybe the Nether Laboratory, a place where magic stuff used to be done, inhabited by these guys and maybe one other new enemy—perhaps a parallel to the Wither Skeletons found in Nether Fortresses. Soulfire Blaze spawners are in these structures, as well as a room dedicated, apparently, to potions—with one or two brewing stands in there and a chest containing several empty bottles and a random potion.

    Behavior:

Acts very much like a normal Blaze, except its fireballs deal more damage and inflict the Hunger effect. Hostile to Piglins on the off-chance they get into its habitat or they meet in the valleys. Also hostile to regular Blazes.

Parrots imitating wolf and cat sounds scare creepers and skeletons.

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 01:59 AM PST

If a parrot has been near a cat, ocelot, or wolf creepers & phantoms/skeletons will be scared of them respectfully. A way to add some use to a lackluster mob. This could make certain mobs easier to handle without risking your pet walking into lava because parrots can perch on your shoulder.

Rabbits should also be breed-able with Hay Bales and Grass.

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:37 AM PST

With Bundles in 1.17, players are going to have more incentive to create Rabbit Farms so they can get more Rabbit Hide. Therefore, they'll be breeding Rabbits more.

However, with how Rabbits currently are in Minecraft, it is a bit strange with how breeding them is implemented, since it even misrepresents the animal, something Mojang says they don't want to do (such as why Sharks were refused). This is because Rabbits eating Carrots as their main food is a myth, which became popularised by Bugs Bunny. Similar to ducks with bread, it's more like a treat and should be given to them on occasion.

What's Rabbits do like however, is Hay or Grass. I suggest Hay Bales and Grass (not the block) be added to the food pool of what can be used to breed Rabbits. Perhaps even add more incentive using Hay Bales as food by giving Rabbits a chance of breeding multiple rabbits if they're fed this item.

I wouldn't suggest removing Carrots as a breedable item, since it could be used as some form of breeding control where only one rabbit would be born from breeding, but Carrots would still have its uses for Pigs and Food if it is out of the breeding pool for Rabbits.

    More death messages for endermen.

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 02:50 AM PST

Basically if an enderman holds a block and kills you it shows "someone was slain by enderman by using..." the same way if a zombie picks up an item it shows what was used for the operation.

    New music discs

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:09 AM PST

This music disc would be dropped by the warden. The devs said they would make the warden drop a trophy item and music discs are just trophies, so it makes perfect sense.

The music disc itself would have teal vinyl, and a tan center to match the colors of the warden.

It would be called "Clockwork Crafter", and play the song of the same name.

In case you aren't aware, Clockwork crafter is one of the songs that was added with the Steve branch of the SSBU fighters pass Vol2. It makes perfect sense to have this song in the game, is it references an important feat in Minecraft's history.

    —————-

The next disc that could be added is one found in the end cities. I personally think that the end cities need more loot, as the only loot you can exclusive get there are shulker shells and elytras. They're good items, but we should have more.

This disc would have purple vinyl, and a black center.

It would be titled "Holland Dalarna"

This is yet another song from the Steve DLC in smash. This is also the song that played during the trailer for Steve in smash, and it makes perfect sense for it to be in the game.

    Withered Forest Biome

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 07:44 AM PST

A dead looking biome that generates with very little grass, sparse and dead looking trees, and unfertilizable land. (Coarse dirt)

Plant spread and growth is heavily reduced in this biome

It doesn't rain in this biome.

It has a 25% greater chance to spawn skeletons than other hostile mobs.

There's a rare chance that a wither rose will spawn in this biome. But not by bonemeal.

    Red Desert

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 07:56 AM PST

I know they have mesas, but this would be like a mesa without the terracotta. It would also be like the desert, but with red sand. Include red sandstone wells, red desert temple, and red desert village. Cactus and dead bush also.

Tridents in ocean monument treasure rooms

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 12:25 PM PST

Right now, I do not think ocean monuments offer a good reward. Elder guardians barely drop anything useful, and the treasure is only 8 underwhelming gold blocks.

Since the ocean monument is water-related, I think tridents should be a reward from monuments. The best way I thought of was to have a trident in a pedestal (treasure room). Additionally, the trident will be never enchanted and will always be at full durability. If you think it would be too OP, (1 trident per ocean monument), then maybe the trident in the pedestal would always be below half durability.

    Shapeshifter mob

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 02:10 PM PST

So I had this idea for a hostile or non-hostile mob that takes the form of a Steve. It could appear in the distance on a world but also come closer to the player, crouching happily and trying to interact. It will appear only in desert biomes, and you have to avoid it, cause if you get too close it will take its original, monstrous form and kill you.

It could also masquerade as friendly mobs or even hostile mobs in an attempt to get players. Imagine trying to trade with a villager, only to get attacked by the Shapeshifter. Imagine going to kill a simple meek zombie, only for it to change into a powerful mob that is harder to kill.

    New villager role: collector

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 01:51 PM PST

Now this new villager to keep it short and sweet, wants and will sell exotic things.

This new villager will buy cursed items of a random item that can be cursed. It could be, swords, armor, tools, or just the book itself. With this he will sell maps to biomes like mesa and mooshroom, and maybe some hard to find structures like mineshafts. Basically this is what he does now his job station possibilitys that I have narrowed it down to are, enchantment tables, some kind of new storage device, or just something mystical and strange. And as for the new items in the caves and cliffs update I haven't looked to far into it but it would take glow squid sacs to give it more use. This is all I have so far. (Sorry about formating, I'm on mobile)

New Mushroom Posts #1: Slime Top

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 01:00 PM PST

This will be my first of many posts about new mushroom types.

The Slime Top would be a new mushroom that would let you make the most out of a cave parkour course.

Appearance: The slime top would be a block tall and wide mushroom with a thick dark grey blue stalk and a translucent green cap that would resemble a squished slime block. And if there in a mushroom island and there is enough space you can find Giant Slime Tops that would resemble a dark oak but with dark grey blue stems and the "Leaves" being slime blocks.

Behavior: As the name suggests the slime top would only grow in slime chunks in patches of one to three. And when jumped on you would bounce on it like a slime block. If you try to just break a slime top it would just drop one to two slime balls but if you jump from thirteen blocks blocks or higher the mushroom would break and drop one to two slime balls. To harvest the mushroom itself you would need shears or silk touch, be it book or tool.

Other: You can sometime find wandering traders trading slime tops for one emerald for one mushroom. if you left click a slime top you can harvest one to three slime balls it then the cap would disappear and would regrow in five to six in game days. The slime top would drip slime colored particles from under the cap and would act like the droplets that would fall of crying obsidian.

Mobs on fire should light you on fire after hitting you when on hard/hardcore difficulty

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 10:15 AM PST

Don't think there is much explaining to do with this one but I just remembered when mobs would light you on fire a couple years ago and I kinda miss it. I'm not sure how ranged mobs would work but I would say it would also light you on fire too.

EDIT: just found out zombies still do this on Java, I would still like for it to be this way on bedrock and work with more mobs

2 new spells for item entity collection

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 12:24 PM PST

    exclusive to the chest plate.

Organized - only has 1 level and stops the items you collect from going to your hot bar.

The names could be changed i just think these effects could be really helpful. How many times have you jumped into a 1x1x1 hole to pick something up? Also when clearing chunks out (like for slime farms or underground bases, strip mining etc) theres often a huge amount of item entities that get strewn about, this would make collecting them a lot easier/faster

As for the hot bar enchantment it would be a good way to make the trident more viable in extended combat situations. I hate it when the loot i pick up floods my hot bar and forces the trident into my inventory bringing the fight to a screeching halt while i re-organize.

Edit: removed one of the spells bc it was on FPS list
