Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #119: Mining Town Posted: 14 Mar 2021 08:44 AM PDT LAST WEEK'S THEME: DUNGEONWonderful week of builds! Very hard to choose who was in which position! Great job to everyone(even if you didn't make the top 3! GoldWhat a wonderfully trippy build! I really loved how even though everything was on a larger scale, but everything still looked amazing! One thing that really stuck out to me was the lighting, and how it added to the build. Not only did it make the build so much more atmospheric, but it made made the walls, which are usually more bare and plain, darker and out of focus (shifting our vision away from them). Great job! SilverI always love builds that make plain grey stone look great. And it happened here. What a great build, using many stone textures to create cool and unique rooms, that didn't look plain (and also not too busy). I also loved your use of soul flames in the build. It gave the build a colder vibe, with the blue textures, and seemed more eerie to me because of that. If I had been exploring it, I feel I would have been creeped out, which is good since it's a dungeon. Great build! BronzeSpeaking of being creeped out.... if I came across this build in the overworld, I would not want to explore it! Great job building the exterior and entrance. Also, loved your dinnerbone spiders floating upside down, really added to the creepy effect and I feel if you saw upside down spider walking on the roof, it would really creep people out. Maybe, if you would have made the ceiling look more like a place to walk, it would have amplified that effect and image even more? Nice job! Honourable mentions IntroductionIt's time to go mining! Well.... not necessarily for this challenge. Instead this week, we'll be setting up the town where our miners live! Or at least, we'll be setting up part of it! Happy building!
