[Brainstorm] Top Monthly Suggestions For March 2020! This Month's Theme is "User Interfaces"! Posted: 08 Apr 2020 11:53 AM PDT Your monthly reminder that yes, there are suggestions that do get over 100 upvotes from the Minecraft Community. Truly crazy, innit? In this post are showcased all the suggestions for the past month that have achieved an upvote notoriety beyond 100, as well as the 10 closest stragglers that were just shy of making the choice 3-digit beauty mark. Heeeello Internet, welcome to I've got a BIG announcement for you all... WE SURPASSED 100K MEMBERS!! This is one of the coolest milestones we could've reached, because it shows that despite all the struggles this subreddit has gone through, we've overcome our obstacles and have emerged victorious. We're bigger and better than ever, and the ideas have gotten a lot better in quality. The MCS staff team is so proud of all of you guys, and we are very happy to be a part of this fantastic community. It's because of all of YOU that we are now at this remarkable number of subscribers, and we couldn't be more thankful. You guys are the best! :D Before we begin, I want to bring to everyone's attention something very important. Everyone who isn't living under a rock has heard about the COVID-19 situation already, so I won't bother explaining that. However, it is still imperative that you follow these rules in your daily lives until the pandemic is over:
I know you've heard all this before, but I think it's about time we started saying them too. We can beat back this thing, but we all need to stay safe, stay healthy, and be wise. Anyway, enough depressing stuff, let's focus now on the good parts. SO, without further ado, let's take a look at March, shall we? We have 102 suggestions that broke the 100+ mark. Not bad at all! 12 of those made it past 200+ upvotes (Super Luminous!), 6 reaching 300+ (Enlightened!), 2 reaching 400+ (Ascended!), 3 reaching 500+ (Legendary!), 6 reaching 600+ (Mythic!), 8 reaching 700+ (Godlike!), 8 reaching 800+ (Omnipotent!), 12 reaching beyond our normal naming conventions, with 5 reaching 900+, 3 reaching 1000+, 1 reaching 1100+, 1 reaching 1200+, 1 reaching 1300+, and one big whopper reaching 1800+.Special congratulations go to /u/MushirMickeyJoe for being MVP for the month of March thanks to his 1800+ post. Great work! :D (Sorry /u/Internal_Recording, the bot had missed Mushir's post from March, and he has you beat by over 500 upvotes. Still, 1300+ is a very respectable number.) And here's a look into what types of suggestions made it onto this list:
Blocks and Items won out over all the others this time! Builders, represent! The latest snapshot has also added a ton of new blocks, so check that one out if you're interested. ;)
IN OTHER NEWS:WE'VE SURPASSED 100K MEMBERS!! Ahem, I already said that of course, but it's such a great milestone, that I felt the need to say it again. :) Anyway, we also have another new moderator! You've probably seen him around a few times, but please welcome /u/Pau_Fabregas to the team! Also, we've updated our implemented suggestions catalog with some new ideas that got implemented (including blue campfires, one of the most highly-requested features for the Nether Update). Check 'em out! We're also currently doing some work on our Discord server (some reorganizing of channels, mostly) if you're interested in joining us. We have lots of great brainstormers over there, and we're a very friendly bunch, so come and join us if you feel like doing some live chatting! And finally, here's your monthly reminder to please read the FPS list before making an idea, just to be sure your idea isn't already on there. Feedback PostsIn this section, we are putting links to any major feedback posts that we've put up regarding key features in the upcoming 1.16 Nether Update. Because development won't last forever, this section of the TMS is, for the most part, temporary, until the next update starts to roll out. But for now, here are our current major feedback posts for 1.16: <>If there was a suggestion that was missed, please let us know below. Despite our best efforts, we haven't yet reached infallible perfection just yet (we're still trying, impossible as it might be), so some mistakes are still within the realm of possibility.<>
Honorable 10 Suggestions:
<> All Monthly Suggestion Posts are cataloged on the subreddit's TMS Catalog Wikipage.<> Note: The comments are not for posing ideas unless they pertain to the feedback theme. If an idea crops up in a discussion, then that's fine, but for posting a suggestion for the community and the developers, that is what the "submit" button at the top right is for. Also also, you can see some suggestions that have actually been implemented on the Successful Suggestions Wikipage! Maybe one of these will make it on there someday! If you have a suggestion that actually has been implemented in some form or another, please let us know so that we can update the list. Thanks! Until next time folks, have a fantastic day/night, and take care! :D [link] [comments] |
Boots with feather falling shouldn’t trample crops. Posted: 23 Apr 2020 11:15 AM PDT Quite possibly the most annoying thing to deal with when farming is accidentally ruining crops you've planted, so this could be a way to counter that. [link] [comments] |
The 'too cubic' bastion treasure room should be more structured Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:00 AM PDT Here's what it should look like. The treasure room looks so epic inside tho but outside, its just a very plain and huge cube. They should add more structure to it. As you can see on my design, it also has a piglin carved face on the gate entrance and tower bastions at the corners. Check the closer look here. For more challenge, I opened the roof on this so Ghasts can invade inside. You can check how it's fully viewed here. I suggested it on the feedback site so you can check it here: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360061764332-Bastion-Remnant-Treasure-Room-should-not-only-look-like-a-giant-cube [link] [comments] |
Skeleton Horses should naturally spawn in soul sand basins, and should be tame-able. Posted: 22 Apr 2020 09:24 PM PDT They go with the theme of the SoulSand Basin, make the Basin feel more unique to other biomes, & it gives players a reason to go to SoulSand Basins. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Apr 2020 11:44 PM PDT Recently I've seen a lot of comments under posts that say that there's a plugin or something similar that can do what the poster is trying to change or add with their suggestion, and that really isn't helpful. I can understand where you're coming from, but Java is not the only edition to the game. Bedrock and Pocket edition do not have access to plugins or mods or really resource packs either. Even then, most of the time if someone wants a change to be made, it's not because they want to add a plugin /etc. to their game, it's because they want it to be added to vanilla instead. This isn't a subreddit for asking for solutions to problems, it's a subreddit for making solutions for problems. Of course this is mostly harmless, but it does get on my nerves a tad. Yes, obviously there's gonna be a mod or plugin that exists for practically everything any of us can think of. Everyone knows this, it really need not be repeated. It's also a very mild violation of my understanding of Rule 5 (No suggesting mods), which I feel like sort of carries across to the comments as well. If it doesn't, maybe it should. That's it, just a quick little thing I noticed recently that I thought should be brought up. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Additional Smithing Table uses Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:36 AM PDT On 1.16 the Smithing Table is finally getting a use...and it's literally just to make diamond armor into Netherite armor, which isn't useful for 99% of players. Instead, I'd like to give it a few similar uses, that could be useful for people far earlier into their world. Smithing Tables should be able to upgrade Shields, Bows, and Crossbows into new variants. Specifically, you can put a Bow or Crossbow (I'll use "bow" to refer to both) into a Smithing table with Iron, Gold, or Netherite ingots to create Iron, Gold, and Netherite bows. The iron bow would simply be a bow that has greater durability (and looks cooler) The gold bow would look even cooler, but also have slightly decreased durability, at the expense of pulling back an arrow slightly faster and having better enchanting abilities (as gold equipment does) And Netherite bows would have even greater durability than that of the iron bow, and shoot arrows with less drop (longer range shots) And with Shields, you can combine them with a banner to add the banner pattern (it can only be done in the crafting grid, at the moment). (This would also make it so banner patterns on Shields can exist in Bedrock Edition) So yeah, Smithing Tables should be able to upgrade other weapons in the game. Bows and Crossbows could benefit from slight upgrades in durability with iron, especially early game, when enchantments and repairing are near nonexistent, but you need to fight off mobs a lot. And even if these uses would be super minor, they would at least give the Smithing Table a reason to exist for anyone that doesn't have full diamond and tons of Netherite ingots. (Also the Smithing Table should require at least a couple levels to use each time, to teach players how levels can be used earlier on) [link] [comments] |
Spore Particles Floating Around The Mushroom Fields Biome Posted: 23 Apr 2020 08:05 AM PDT When I was exploring the New Nether Biomes, I noticed most of them had particles floating around. Floating Ashes around Basalt Deltas, Grey Air Particles around SoulSand Valley, Blazing Particles in Crimson Forest, and Blue Particles(spores perhaps) in Warped Forest. It gave me this idea that the Mushroom Fields Biome should have spore particles floating around them. This would make sense because mushrooms reproduce by producing and dispersing spores. Posted: 23 Apr 2020 12:36 PM PDT Phantoms only spawn when you haven't slept, right? So perhaps only players who haven't slept should be able to see them! Meaning you could be playing with a friend, and they suddenly take damage and start batting at the air. Of course, if they're turned invisible, then only those who aren't sleep-deprived can see them. Or, as an alternative, if they're struck with Spectral Arrows (or in any other way afflicted with the Glowing effect) they'll become visible to everyone. But only the Phantom inflicted with the effect is visible. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:26 AM PDT Recent feedable animals have the ability to eat food that is on the floor. However, older animals that are feedable don't have this ability. You can only feed them by right-clicking on them with their food in your hand. They should be able to eat food that is on the ground as well. Oh, and since you have to give them a sort of animation for eating food off the ground, this will be a perfect chance to flesh out these older mobs and give them more animations and liveliness, like how newer mobs have unique behaviors and animations. Drifts (A Mountable mob for the End Dimension) Posted: 23 Apr 2020 08:32 AM PDT They regularly float over the void of the End Dimension at axis Y 39-62. Drifts will only be able to fly over the void areas in the End dimension and will slowly descend if there are blocks below them. When stuck on land, they will find their way to the void similar to how dolphins find their way to the sea. They will not die if stuck on terrain made of end stone, however they will suffocate if stuck on terrain made of any other blocks. Similarly to Striders, they attempt to spawn every 400 gameticks in the middle of the void and rarely near the islands. They are mountable by player using a saddle and a chorus fruit in a stick. When fed with chorus fruit, the pair will land on an end island, enter love mode, and give birth to baby Drifts. Then they will return to the void being able to breed again. Baby Drift growth can be accelerated with chorus fruit. They drop 1 enderpearl and 1-3 Air Sac which can be used to create the potion of Levitation. We already have the mountable Strider Mob that can travel across the lava in the Nether so a mountable mob that can fly across the empty void of the End and be used to travel from island to island without the need of building a risky bridge would be extremely useful. Witches prepare before a fight Posted: 23 Apr 2020 07:57 AM PDT If witches see you, they don't do anything spectacular, they just walk towards you And throw potions. Yeah, not exactly the brightest move from the (imo) smartest mob in the game. Now witches already have something like this, It's not preparing, but they counter statuses (If on fire they drink Fire res., If on low health they drink Health pots,...), So my suggestion Is, before the witch engages a player, it drinks one of these potions (those Will be based on rarity): Speed (Basic) Regen (1/4 Chance) Slow falling (1/8) Strength (1/20) Turtle Master (not really preparing, but during fight if the witch Is on 1hp left) (1/35) Luck (1/50) This would be the only way to get luck potions, witch (haha get it) Are in the game for a loong time. So hey, do you agree? What would you change? Maybe change the Chance numbers? k bye [link] [comments] |
Rename "zombie horse" and "zombie villager" to "zombified horse" and "zombified villager". Posted: 23 Apr 2020 12:15 AM PDT Mojang, as of 1.16, has scrapped the simple "zombie" title and has opted for the new adjective, "zombified". It will make sense for the zombie horse and the zombie villager to get the new "zombified" label. EDIT: Also, "zoglin" is a stupid name. Just make it "zombified hoglin". [link] [comments] |
2 Players should be able to ride one horse Posted: 23 Apr 2020 02:05 PM PDT inb4 anyone yells at me, I know this has been suggested before. I am just upset this hasn't gotten much attention. Two people can ride in one boat people! Why shouldn't a horse? [link] [comments] |
Sizzling Sound Effect for Campfire Cooking Posted: 23 Apr 2020 11:58 AM PDT Just a nice, soothing sizzling noise that makes cooking on an open flame more immersive. Its practical applications? I guess if your back is turned while fishing or something, you'll know the food's done when it stops. Beyond that, not much. Here's bacon sizzling, I figured this might help my case, I don't know. Posted: 23 Apr 2020 06:28 AM PDT Link to the suggestion: mods, if this is not allowed somehow. i am sorry. Glazed terracotta pillars is not an original idea of mine, i came across it by accident on google images and believe that the only reason it has low votes is cause it got buried under other suggestions [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 09:00 AM PDT Maybe add a animation to slowly transition the striders texture from in lava to out of lava. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 09:52 AM PDT The Beastreary would be a book that you could get from trading with piglins when you open it you can find information and a little bit of lore to nether mobs such as the strider, hoglin, piglin, ghast, magma cubes, ghast, wither skeleton,Wither boss, and any future nether mobs. Also When you kill a mob with the beastreary in your hand you can get new drops like a hoglin tusks, witherbones, souls, and strider scales for example [link] [comments] |
More Activities for Baby Villagers Posted: 23 Apr 2020 03:39 PM PDT Right now, baby villagers will play tag with each other if in groups, and I thought it would be cool if they had a few more activities during the day. These include:
These wouldn't impact the game very much, but it would be a unique feature that would make them more lively. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 04:17 PM PDT Pretty simple, cattails would be plants that grow no more than three blocks away from the water part of a swamp, and grow in two block deep water with one "block" of the caittail coming out of the water. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 12:16 PM PDT This is pretty short, but bridges should be built over ravines in the villages [link] [comments] |
Make salmon (fishing rates) more common in river biomes Posted: 23 Apr 2020 03:41 AM PDT Hi, so me and my friends on a server have grown a habit of fishing when its raining at night. We love how river biomes have salmon instead of cod because thats realistic as cod is a salt-water fish. Ive noticed though that when fishing you get cod way more often than the salmon. 60% cod as opposed to 25% salmon to be precise according to https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Fishing. As someone whos father is very enthusiastic about fishing it seems super weird to me that you usually fish cod instead of salmon in a fresh-water-river. I think minecraft should fix this and change the fishing rate so when you fish in a river you get more salmon than cod. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:58 AM PDT Netherite is Unbreakable - Wear four pieces of Netherite armor with Mending and Unbreaking Phantom Blood - Fix your Elytra with a phantom membrane Battle Tendency - Defend a village against a level V (or greater) raid Stone Ocean - Use lava to turn the entire surface of an ocean biome to stone [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2020 03:10 PM PDT I was making a tree recently, and I thought, "Wouldn't it be great if I could fit into a 1x1 space? It's weird that the height restriction from survival mode makes it hard for me to build things in creative mode." In other games (robocraft is the one that comes to mind) it's possible for the player's avatar to fit into one unit spaces so they can easily fill in blocks in tiny interiors. Why not minecraft's creative mode? I suggest a toggle/command/key/setting/whatever, or even an automatic "shrink" function which happens when you box yourself in (although as we know from 1.14 trapdoors this is far from ideal) which allows players in creative mode to become smaller (perhaps by cutting of the bottom half of their skin, leaving them as a flying torso) so that they can build stuff in small spaces. That's it! [link] [comments] |
Some more food sources on the Nether. Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:58 AM PDT Cooked Nether Wart is obtained by simply smelting some Nether Wart in a furnace. It heals the same as Sweet Berries, 2 food points and 0.4 saturation. Conflicted Stew can be crafted with a bowl, one crimson fungus, one warped fungus and sugar. This kind of Stew is special since it's the first one to be stackable (16). It heals 6 food points and 7 saturation. Magmium is the best food source you can find in the Nether, but it's not easy to get. First, you have to craft the block "Condensed Magma Core". The crafting recipe is one Blackstone Brick on the middle, sorrounded by eight Crying Obsidian. You will get one Condensed Magma Core. Now you can place it down. You will notice there is a charger similar to the Respawn Anchor on it's texture, but instead of having 4 charges, this one has 10. To charge it one time, you need to get a magma cube to step on it, the small ones don't count. When a magma cube does step on it, the block will start emmiting light and will get one charge. When it reaches ten charges, the texture will change, it looks like there is some kind of liquid inside the block. Right click it with a glass bottle, and it'll get filled up with Magmium and the block will lose all of it's ten charges. The Magmium Bottle will heal all of your food bars, and 25 saturation. Please tell me what you think, if enough people like it, I'll send it on the feedback site. :) [link] [comments] |
Obsidian should occasionally turn into crying obsidian when stuck by a ghast fireball Posted: 23 Apr 2020 12:16 AM PDT I am well aware that this would be truly anoying for players returning to the overworld... But hear me out. This would explain why ruined portals would pop around and would grant the ability to farm crying obsidian. This would also give a bit of a challenge to players requiring them to bring obsidian to the nether. Maybe in addition to this aa way to turn crying obsidian into normal obsidian to prevent players from getting stuck in the nether? Let me know what your thoughts are. [link] [comments] |
Fish Entities interact with the Fishing Rod Posted: 23 Apr 2020 02:50 PM PDT I was expecting the fishing rod to be intertwined with the new fish mobs in 1.13 The Aquatic Update. Unfortunately this was not added. It would offer simply offer a quality of life improvement for the fish entities to actually swim towards the fishing rod and nip it. This would intertwine with how Mojang is dealing with Java fish farms. Since automatic fish farms are going to be ridden of it would make sense then that the fishing rod can be used in a more natural setting where fish would spawn. Still this wouldn't inhibit players from using fishing rods to find items. Simply show the bobber being pushed down like it already does then allow the player to reel it say an enchanted book or used leather boots. [link] [comments] |
