Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #111: Vikings Posted: 22 Nov 2020 08:41 AM PST LAST WEEK'S THEME: THE COLOURS OF AUTUMNGoldThere are certain types of builds that benefit from a larger size, and this is a great example. The massive height of the build helps give off the sense of importance with this building, and makes your mind whirl with the possibilities of what it was all for. The splotches of black windows throughout the build help give it detail, to avoid becoming a blur of gray walls, and the prismarine roofs gives it the depth it needs to become a three dimensional work of art. This is all without mentioning the wonderfully made autumn trees everywhere, and the detailing that's gone into them. Great build! SilverThis build invokes a fantastic feeling of fall when I look at it, and I can almost picture myself at a county fair in October. This build doesn't have any one part that makes it a winner, instead it's the combination of all the parts. The corn maze is beautifully done, the detail at the barn and greenhouse is great, the list goes on and on. My only complaint could be that the detail on any one part of the build isn't outstanding, but it hardly affects it due to the lively world it has instead. Nice job! BronzeIt's been awhile since I reminded people of this rule, but please try and separate shader images and normal images into seperate albums. This has been an issue in the past, but it was a year or two ago so people may have forgotten that rule. Near a small lake, surrounded by cliffs and colorful trees stands a small but sturdy cottage of a fisher. Rocks made out of buttons, scattered on the ground create an atmosphere and sense of a passed time in this area. However, as we zoom out from this little house and lake, we find ourselves surrounded by hilly terrain, filled with trees of various color and material that all create a magical awe and emphasize the season of autumn/fall. Amazing and very atmospheric build, and while the trees and terrain are super unique and phenomenal, they do get a bit repetitive after a while, hence why we chose a third place for this build. A small cave here or there, a waterfall, fallen trees and some wild animals even, would inject some more life and randomness into the build, making it (we feel like) even greater than it already is. Good job! Honourable mentions IntroductionWe're going up north this week! Not too far though, just far enough that we might meet some vikings along the way. Whether we catch a glimpse of them on the open seas, or rather see their lands for ourselves, that's for you guys to decide! Happy building! Inspiration ChallengeVikings Build a Viking themed build.
