Lush Caves should only generate down to y0 Posted: 15 Jul 2021 02:30 AM PDT I was playing in the new 1.18 experimental snapshot, and there is one thing I found very odd. Plants at y-50. The very bottom of the world, and it still felt sorta like I was on the surface. Deepslate to me seems so inhospitable it's strange plants could grow on it. And to see lush foliage and spore blossoms so close to the bottom of the world really took away from the sense of "being miles underground". The lush caves also just don't "gel" with Deepslate all that well. I feel Lush Caves should be restricted to only the top half of the underground, now only generating down to y0, where the stone layers end. If there is a mega cave that is a Lush Cave and crosses over the Stone-Deepslate boundary, maybe they can make a transition out of Lush Cave to regular cave, similar to the 8-block transition zone from Stone to Deepslate. Also, lush caves should not generate under ice biomes. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2021 12:03 PM PDT Now that 1.17 brings in tinted glass that is still as clear as glass but doesn't let light through, I think that an opposite to this glass properties could be interesting. Frosted glass would essentially be the opposite of tinted glass, where it would let the same amount of light through like normal glass- but it will be significantly less see through. Frosted glass still will be somewhat clear, but just barely so players could make somewhat hidden skylights in their bases or things to that effect. I think it would be nice to have even more control over the lighting and visual aspect of builds. Frosted glass could possibly be crafted from quartz and glass similar to how amethyst is used in tinted glass. [link] [comments] |
Ancient Weapons among the treasures at archeology sites? Posted: 15 Jul 2021 09:42 AM PDT My idea for the archeology update, whenever it happens could also give more use to the smithing table. Basically, when digging the player has a chance of finding a broken iron, gold, diamond or extremely rarely netherite weapon or armor. These weapons and armors can be fixed by adding blocks of that material to it in a smithing table, then heating it up like the clay pots. This would have to be done 4-5 times before the weapon/armor is fully fixed. The benefit to this is that these weapons and armors would be far superior to their normal counterparts in terms of durability and damage dealing or damage absorption. [link] [comments] |
Powder snow touching lava should turn into tuff Posted: 15 Jul 2021 10:06 AM PDT Tuff is a nice block for building, but not very common, so it would be nice to have a renewable source for tuff. [link] [comments] |
Remove the banner design limit Posted: 14 Jul 2021 09:47 PM PDT It's an old and limiting feature that should be gone last year. Also, a few more banner patterns would be a welcome addition. Here is a link to a minecraft feedback page for this, but it is not mine. https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360040222951-No-Banner-design-limit [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Jul 2021 05:54 PM PDT Currently as many know, Minecraft worlds since 1.7 are just large blotches of land with lakes called "oceans" in them. Since this snapshot is overhauling world generation, I think continents should be brought back, although closer than before. This would make navigation in the game feel much more full exploration-wise and less just random scattered biomes everywhere, which is how it currently feels. Mapping would feel MUCH more rewarding. Imagine having a map of the entire continent proudly displayed on your wall! Also it will be consistent with the "globe" banner pattern Tl;dr better oceans that make everything else generate in continents, but just closer than before. [link] [comments] |
'Patchwork' Bed Recipe for Mismatching Wool Posted: 15 Jul 2021 10:46 AM PDT Pretty self-explanatory- it doesn't make sense that you would need matching-coloured wool to make a bed. Using the existing bed recipe with mismatching wool should still work, and just create something like a 'patchwork bed' where the sheets are an ugly quilt of grays and browns. Bed aren't meant to be progress-gated really, it could just be another texture variant for the existing bed block. A cheap looking bed would be great in builds for farm houses or bunks, and it would remove some hassle from getting a bed early that doesn't really serve any purpose, gameplay wise. Add an option to disable render dragon Posted: 15 Jul 2021 08:04 AM PDT On version 1.16.200, the render engine was switched to render dragon because of RTX raytracing, however it is extremely inefficient and greatly hinders performance, especially for players with lower end devices. There should be an option to use the old render engine, because it was far more efficient and had really good performance. Why should we be forced to use a render engine that only benefits players with expensive RTX graphics cards while it ruins everyone else's performance? This is the version of the game that's supposed to have really good performance so that you can play on a phone or a console without experiencing any FPS lag, yet many console players have complained to me (because I'm sort of known for getting really good renders for an old PC) that they can barely manage to get 40 FPS if they turn every single video setting down all the way, and some players have told me that they have really bad FPS lag spikes where their game freezes like every 15 seconds. And it's only going to get worse in 1.18 when the height limit increases, mountains are especially FPS killers. I have waited for months, hoping that they'd address this issue, but no, clearly adding more garbage to the market place is more important. There are absolutely no downsides to adding this option other than the possibility of making slightly less money than you would by using that time to add more garbage to the market place, and forcing console and laptop players to use a horrendously inefficient render engine that was added for the sole purpose of RTX ray-tracing is genuinely infuriating. This will greatly benefit almost every player, and will negatively impact literally no one, so why is this not an option? [link] [comments] |
Putting on an a glove should make a parrot not fall so easily! Posted: 15 Jul 2021 09:38 AM PDT We've all been there: exploring a jungle, perhaps looking for cocoa beans or ocelots, when you see it: a parrot making random mob sounds. You try to tame it, and after your 14th seed, it finally gets tamed. As it is following you, it suddenly does something amazing: It perches on your shoulder! You decide that you're gonna keep that parrot as long as you can, and start to go back home, feeling accomplished. Then, for whatever reason, you look and It's somehow fallen off! No problem, you just put it back on, but it happens again and again until you are resigned to just letting it follow you. Now, if only there was an item you could use to give it a better grip! Enter the glove: an Item you can put in your off hand to let a parrot ride without falling off. The parrot can alert you to mobs from farther away or just sit there, a good travel companion. The only way it could fall off is if you enter water that is completely deep or you fall in lava or, of course, die. While wearing the glove with a parrot on it, the parrot will instead be on you're arm and not you're shoulder, and should be seeable in first person. This would finally allow you to have a parrot on you for more than 3 seconds! The glove could be crafted with leather, and could be dyed like any other leather material. Also white parrot looks the best change my mind [link] [comments] |
Instant damage potions should heal you if you have the Wither effect. Posted: 15 Jul 2021 02:46 PM PDT Maybe add a usage to instant damage potions. They are practically useless, especially in singleplayer. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2021 12:29 PM PDT Summonable projectiles like snowballs and splash potions can be rendered as any item, meaning they can look like any item in the game. I suggest this should be added to any item through commands as an nbt, largely eliminating the need for separate texture packs to go with datapacks and using customModelData. If you want a carrot on a stick weapon for right click detection, you could make it look like a sword too without a whole resource pack [link] [comments] |
getting enchantment books should be more fun or at least correlate with what you are doing Posted: 15 Jul 2021 02:03 PM PDT honestly i think the correlation minecraft has between work/payoff is perfect except with one thing. When you want enchantments you usually have to set up a villager trading hall which usually requires an entire day irl of breaking lecterns and chopping wood for fletchers . this is the one part of minecraft i consider "boring" now i'm not asking for a huge change but i think i found a way to make it fun and also correlated Aqua Affinity- you have a chance to obtain it in buried treasure because i think it would be something that the old worlders/ pirates would consider important especially because in the buried treasure contains heart of the sea which seems to be made for ocean monuments and having something to help you mine underwater is exactly the kind of thing you would want when dealing with mining fatigue. Bane of Arthropods - should be found within stronghold libraries because the builders of the stronghold would have to have a way to easily kill silverfish in the portal room and also think about all of the cobwebs in the library. Spiders were probably an issue at one point! Blast Protection - obtained in desert pyramids . you wouldn't set up a trap for your loot without having a backup plan for yourself! Channeling, riptide - obtained in ocean ruins. The trident people know the trident things Looting - obtained in woodland mansions. You would think ppl who pillage would know how to get the most loot right? And they already know how to perform other types of magic so its not out of place for them to have an op enchantment Fire protection - obtained in nether fortresses . you can guess why. Luck of the sea & lure and also you can kind of already get these by trading with fisherman so mojang has this taken care of ! MULTISHOT, piercing, power, punch - pillager outposts . you are already making crossbows their so this just makes sense PROJECTILE PROTECTION- skeleton spawners so that spawners have more purpose then just a saddle /nametag MENDING - end city / end ships already contain armor with mending so i think if you just jack up the chances of mending on them it will be a balanced way to obtain it PROTECTION - armour smith should have protection automatically on the diamond armor UNBREAKING - obtained in village blacksmiths. Blacksmiths don't want their stuff to break SILK TOUCH & FORTUNE- when buying diamond tools from a toolsmith their is a 50% chance you get either one FROST WALKER - found in igloos. Potions already are taking place there so magic is prevalent and it is useful in ice biomes in case a piece of ice is missing. These are all that I can think of. If you guys have any better ideas or any ideas for the enchantments I left out, please put in comments as I will be reading them all. I tried to make this as balanced as i can for grinding to be necessary [link] [comments] |
Surface biome information on the F3 Menu Posted: 15 Jul 2021 06:45 AM PDT With the new 3D cave biomes it had become more difficult to tell where you are in relation to what biome you are in. Looking for emeralds in the mountains? It gets a bit more difficult when you enter a lush cave and cant tell when you've left the mountains. When you dig up to exit the cave because you forgot your way up, it would be nice to know weather you are going to have to dig to the top of a lofty peak, or the bottom of an ocean. To fix this I propose adding another line to the Debug (F3) menu of "Surface Biome" Simply put, it would be the biome of the topmost block in the world of the position you are in. Posted: 15 Jul 2021 02:39 PM PDT They would be a variation of all mountain biomes where it would be very steep and hard to climb, mountain goats spawn here, as well as a new hostile mob called the climber, a less strong spider version of the warden that climbs [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2021 12:09 PM PDT Very simple idea. Imagine mountain generation from the 1.18 snapshots but with lush trees and greenery on them, like actual mountains in topical locations. They would be different from jungle hills because of the terrain generation and types of plants, but they would still be similar. As someone who has heritage from a very mountainous and tropical country, I would like to build something from my culture but it is often difficult to find terrain that would fit. If you would like an idea of what this biome would look like, look for pictures from Kandy, Sri Lanka, or just Sri Lanka in general. Also, this biome would fit 1.18 perfectly because its covering the cliffs part of the caves and cliffs update. [link] [comments] |
Potion of the Deep Dark (placeholder name) Posted: 15 Jul 2021 11:06 AM PDT I think it could be fun to be able to make a potion using a sculk material, this potion would allow the player to sense vibrations similarly to the Warden. This effect would allow the player to see where mobs and other entities are walking near them (ie. seeing a footprint like texture through walls near the player). This could be useful when exploring caves as you could see where mobs are if you cannot hear them. I'm not sure if this too overpowered but I am assuming the sculk materials would be hard to find. Open for different name ideas. [link] [comments] |
An extra deterrent for killing the warden Posted: 15 Jul 2021 08:18 AM PDT As most people know, the warden is not supposed to be killed. It is a force of nature and you shouldn't even attempt to kill it. As soon as the warden is released people are going to be killing it. So, my suggestion is chest linking. Chests already have nbt data, so i was thinking that each one could have a tag (WardenDead == True/False) Each chest would be linked to a Warden, and if that warden dies, the chest loot could be replaced with things like string, rotten flesh, etc. Wardens might die on their own, but i assume that mojang would make them practically invincible to falling in lava, drowning, falling, etc. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2021 02:44 PM PDT The title speaks for itself - Minecraft's sky is.. well.. empty. I think it would be cool to see a sky island type biome where there could be some new mobs or some new type of villagers which would trade some new loot. This would also give Elytras more purpose instead of quick travelling from place to place. This would also be reminiscent of KingB's Aether mod. But on a lesser scale. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2021 08:34 AM PDT The Frother dimension is a cold and quiet dimension. Instead of the ground being in its usual position, it will be on the roof, but gravity doesn't change. You will find pyramid-like hills all over the roof and under all that you will fine a large layer of packed ice and blue ice. On top of the roof you will find bedrock. There will be upside down oceans of powder snow, spikes of ice, and a top layer of regular snow blocks. You can find castles hanging from the roof by chains called "Ice Castles". Any snow golem in the Frother dimension will become hostile. Ice castles have valuable loot, they also spawn with snow golems without pumpkins and strays. (The snow golems will not attack the strays.) Loot from Ice castles- Coal, diamonds, iron blocks, slowness potions, and very rarely, diamond boots with frost walker, mending, and curse of binding. Ores found in the packed ice- Hexanite and iron. Hexanite- a pink hexagonal ore that can be put on diamond armor, tools, and weapons. Hexanite armor increases speed, jump boost, and duration of effects (good and bad). The down side of hexanite armor is that you take a lot of knockback when hit. Hexanite armor, tools, and weapons has the same durrability as diamond. Hexanite tools have a mining speed 2 times as fast as netherite. Hexanite swords have the same attack strength as diamond swords. Hexanite swords also effect enemies with weakness 1 for 10 seconds. How to get to the Frother dimension- Frother portals are 3 by 3 upright portals made of gilded blackstone and can only be lit in the nether. You would have to go through a journey of either getting silk touch or looting bastions. The frother dimension is a bit like a second overworld, so 1 block in the nether is 8 blocks in the frother. Notes-this suggestion should only go into the game in at least 4 years so that other parts of the game can improve. Also, the reason why the frother dimension is so bland when it comes to biomes is that this is not the finished product, mojang might add new features over time. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2021 08:21 AM PDT Reflect a ghast fireball and then kill another mob with the fireball, similar to Return To Sender [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2021 04:09 PM PDT Like the rope from terraria, with the new giant caves sometimes it water isn't available plus then you can't get up. So they could add a rope! it works the same as vines and the nether vine things but is made easier and more helpful [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Jul 2021 03:51 PM PDT Now, I've seen Ash blocks on the FPS list. The thing is, it doesn't make sense. Ash is a particle in basalt deltas, and is most likely gonna stay that way. With the addition of powdered snow however, Ash could be collected exactly like snow can. Putting a Cauldron in a basalt delta could collect ash into the cauldron. When filled up, it could be collected into a bucket of ash. While the argument could be made that it could be placed down as a block stands, I think it shouldn't. Since ash doesn't have layers (like snow has top layers) it shouldn't be placeable, like snow is. I think that ash could be used as a fuel source. Maybe not as powerful as lava, but it would still work. But then again, that would be too much of a hassle. So it could probably be like a optional source. Like something that's possible BECAUSE it would make sense. For a useful use, it could probably be used with water to create gravel, or maybe it could be used with lava to create basalt manually, in case you aren't good at redstone. Ash could also be used for making some blocks darker. Like maybe it could be used on stone to make a dark gray. While we do have basalt and black stone, this would combine dark gray colors with different textures. Because Vanities cool, ig. Maybe it could be used to create blindness potions! Who knows? Due to ash always falling from the sky in Basalt Deltas, I'd say that ash filling a cauldron would be faster then snow filling a cauldron. But who knows? I just think buckets of ash would be more logical then blocks. Like, we already have really nice grayish blocks like basalt and black stone. Plus, ash is powder-like irl. [link] [comments] |
An enchantment for leggings, Agility Posted: 15 Jul 2021 03:29 PM PDT Agility lets you move slightly faster when you're crouching. This enchantment has 3 levels, and at level 3 there's no difference in speed between crouching and walking normally. Agility only affects the SPEED of crouching though, so all the same rules for crouching besides speed applies when you're wearing this enchantment. [link] [comments] |
