Baby Ghasts rarely spawn in Basalt Deltas

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 08:39 AM PDT

In Dungeons, one of the available pets is a baby Ghast. The idea isn't unique to this game, but its design certainly is, and I think I can speak for everyone when I say that these things are adorable. However, they should by no means be easy to come across. Ghasts are in a way the face of the Nether, and arguably a good representation of how brutal the place is supposed to be. However, the Nether is not exclusively evil and twisted, as shown by the innocence of Striders and the Piglins apparently having a lot of honor buried underneath their selfish demeanors.

How I imagine this working is that Ghasts in Basalt Deltas have a 1/3 chance of spawning as a baby, but don't have any kind of parent. They're just a lonely child, floating around the wasteland in search of some kind of purpose. Should you find one, they'll generally either try to hide, or just do their own thing. They're still young and innocent, so if you hurt them, they'll just float away in fear instead of fighting back. However, if you feed them magma cream, they can help you locate any lost inventory.

Similarly, you can tame them by feeding them gunpowder, though unlike most other tamable mobs, they can't be bred. Instead, additional gunpowder can be used to let them shoot fireballs. These won't necessarily be shot on command, but they're much weaker than regular fireballs anyway, only starting a fire and not breaking most blocks.

For added personality, they have a chance of scaring away baby piglins, but not regular piglins. Instead, they will do their best to not harm the baby ghast when fighting one unless they're low on health, as a show of affection and respect for the creature.

Instead of flashing red from all damage sources, you flash different colors depending on the type of damage.

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 05:00 AM PDT

When something takes damage in Minecraft, it flashes red. This is a nice visual indicator that damage is being dealt, however I think it could use a slight rework. What if different damage types had differently colored flashes, making it an even more useful indicator? It would also spice up the visuals of the game in a minor way.

    • If you get hit but don't lose any hearts (example: eggs, snowballs), you flash a slightly lighter red.
    • If you take damage from a critical hit, you flash a slightly darker red.
    • If you take damage from the Poison effect, you flash green.
    • If you take damage from the Wither effect, you flash dark gray.
    • If you take damage from drowning, you flash red with a hint of purple.
    • If you take damage from fire, magma, or lava, you flash orange.
    • If you take damage from Soul Fire, you flash cyan.
    • If you take damage from freezing in Powder Snow, you flash light blue.
    • If you take damage from lightning, you flash white.
    • If you take damage from a Potion of Harming, you flash maroon.
    • If you take damage from the Void, you flash black.

Tools with <5 durability should take twice as long to break a block, to warn you it's on the verge of breaking.

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 10:08 AM PDT

It's easy to accidently break a tool if you're not paying attention. Many including myself have done it at one point or another.

Having the last 5 uses of a tool be slower wouldn't punish players who don't have mending yet, but be a life safer for those that do.

Strata as the new stone type distribution system!

    Posted: 19 Aug 2021 06:40 PM PDT

Strata as the new stone type distribution system!

Everyone's seen the ugly blobs of granite, diorite, and andesite. And the experimental 1.18 snapshots are currently working to make them better, by replacing some of the surface blobs with odd streaks instead. While these certainly look nicer, I think that they should use a different system entirely, as streaks and blobs are both ugly and not geologically accurate(though that's less important)

An absolutely beautiful stony peak mountains range with layers of diorite, granite, andesite, tuff, and calcite. If you're looking to get these materials in large amounts, mountains like these are the perfect place to excavate them!

Instead of blobs or streaks, terrain should use strata! Strata is essentially layers of stone. It's what the badlands use, actually, so it's not exactly a new system.(should be easier to implement then)

Strata should decorate stony peaks, stone shores, and normal shattered terrain you find out and about. In stony peaks and stone shores, you can find granite, diorite, andesite, tuff, and calcite, but in normal shattered terrain, you should only be able to find granite, andesite, and diorite, incentivizing you to explore for stony peaks and such if you want to get your hands on large amounts of calcite and such.

Stone shores with various stone layers mixed into the side.

But stone shores, shattered terrain, and stony peaks shouldn't be the only areas decorated with strata. No, like in real life, strata is EVERYWHERE! So I propose that strata in Minecraft should also extend into areas in the underground, creating beautiful patterns and decorating the barren cave walls. Underground strata should include granite, diorite, andesite, smooth basalt, tuff, and calcite.

    https://preview.redd.it/k7j1xgi3cii71.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=3a5cd5c5b8cb35a92c986a2e86b6ff9fcf65e900

Absolutely beautiful caves decorated with layers of strata.

Note: this wouldn't be a cave biome, or a global thing, just something which appears every now and then around the surface.

Neat stuff like this would also help teach people about real world phenomenons.I also really want to see minecraft embracing more real-world concepts like archaeology and geology in general, without becoming a real-life simulator. Specifically geology, because after all, Minecraft is about mining and the underground, and with the caves and cliffs update, more than ever!

EDIT: Forgot to clear up some stuff, some people were confused on how exactly strata should generate

    • strata doesn't occur everywhere in the overworld, just in certain areas, and near the surface(above y=0). You'll still get caves without strata and it won't become monotonous, and you'll still get variety.
    • because of this, blobs still occur where there is no strata. You'll still find blobs underneath y=0, and you'll also find blobs where strata is not present.(perhaps streaks could also be mixed in…?)

Adult Zombies become enraged when you attack their own

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 01:20 PM PDT

Normally, Zombies are able to call reinforcements to help when you attack them. Meaning there is a form of caring zombies have for each other. They travel in groups of 4 and call for reinforcements, so obviously they would get furious when they see a child being attacked. When a baby Zombie calls for reinforcements, the adult Zombies become angry. They will do more damage, stun shields, move quicker, and will try to block your attacks from the baby. I think this will help had more life to the zombies and expand on their mythos in Minecraft

    Stew revamp

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 05:29 AM PDT

Stew kinda sucks. It's not stackable, you need BOWLS, and they are generally a desperate food. Only time I recall eating it would be in the old nether and on mushroom islands

So I propose a new way to "prepare stew" that gives that non-stackable atribute a nice plus. How it works:

    1. You can put stew and sus stew in a cauldron
    2. You can drop ingredients (rabbit soup ingredients, mushroom-based items and blocks, and flowers) to the mix
    3. The more ingredients the "tastier" the food becomes, to a max of 7 ingredients
    4. This lets you make suspicious stew alloys that give more than one effect

Bonus: Im thinking about buckets but maybe that's a little too much

    New Tool Breaking Sounds

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 11:01 AM PDT

Normally, when any tool breaks, it makes a metal-like sound despite it being a wooden, stone, diamond or netherite.

My suggestion is giving every tool tier a special breaking sound when they run out of durability.

Wooden should be like sticks/branch breaking.

Stone should be like a stone breaking and crumbling.

Iron can keep the normal sound

Gold can keep the normal sound (but I'd good if it had another)

Diamond should be like a crystal breaking

Netherite should be a mix of the Diamond and the Iron one (since its diamonds and a metal).

Also, I'd be cool if any enchanted tool would make another sound when it breaks... something to reflect the magic going away, similar to the amethyst breaking sounds (not in the crystal like sounds, but in the chimes and "sparkly" sound)

Two new types of cactus: Barrel and Saguaro

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 03:02 PM PDT

With prickly pear cactus being confirmed for the badlands, it would only make sense that the desert gets one or two new kinds of cactus. The Saguaro would be massive, growing up to 10 blocks tall, with branching arms. The barrel cactus on the other hand would be a small plant, being only one block tall, maybe with a little flower on it. They'd make deserts look a little more interesting and fun to explore.

    Change endermite spawn egg

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 09:01 AM PDT

Endermite spawn egg texture don't make any sense, most of mobs spawn eggs match colors with their respective mobs but endermites don't, while endermites are purple with a red eye the spawn egg is black with dark gray spots, the actual problem is that looks too similar to wither skeleton spawn egg and can be confused, something that can fix that is making the endermite spawn egg be purple with red spots, wouldn't be the end of the world if that small detail isn't added but would look better.

    Iron and Gold stairs

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 04:29 AM PDT

As of now, copper is the only metal with a stair version so I was thinking why not add gold and iron stairs? I think these 2 blocks would add a bit more building ideas for Minecraft. Iron and gold are really common so I don't see much of a downside in case we have a way too much of it.

    Dripstone Ammunition for Crossbows

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 07:33 AM PDT

So Currently, Dripstones are only for damaging, liquid refilling, and decoration, and that seems a bit little, so i added a 4th Use for it, It's one but useful!

    General

When you hold a Pointed Dripstone in your off hand then charge a crossbow, the ammunition in it will be a Pointed Dripstone, Pointed Dripstones deal 3x more Damage than a normal Arrow, but it's Trajectory will be lowered (The Arrow range will be decreased), When it lands and hits the ground, It will shatter and break into pieces, It is also same for when it hits an entity, but when a Pointed Dripstone falls into the Hopper, The Hopper Will Collect it) The unique thing about this is, The Higher it is, The More Damage it deals, for example, When the Dripstone is 5 blocks above the entity, It will deal 2 hearts of damage, but when it is at Y 255, It will instantly kill a netherite player, Take note that this is just a placeholder, It won't deal 2 hearts and It won't instantly Kill a Netherite Armor Player, The Conclusion is that it increases damage per Y increase)

Make Blast Furnaces / Smokers more fuel efficient

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 10:07 AM PDT

Are they time efficient? Yes, they are very good at saving time. Are they fuel efficient? Not really, they are the same as basic Furnaces. For some players like me, material efficiency is nore important than time efficiency. For me, its faster speed doesnt cut it for the extra materials needed. Smokers, alright, but Blast furnaces are expensive compared to using regular furnaces. I am not talking about big change. 1.2x times or even 1.1x more fuel efficient is fine.

    Falling Blocks Texture Flourish

    Posted: 19 Aug 2021 09:32 PM PDT

    Falling Blocks Texture Flourish

I think we need cool textures for falling blocks like sand (red and normal), gravel, and concrete powder! My quick (and sloppy) proof of concept is here below:

    https://preview.redd.it/ef1yf5s8wfi71.png?width=789&format=png&auto=webp&s=1df875ccc34556748e6c10c83614f2a3da6b694d

I think it's a small flourish, but environments are made fuller by little features like this. This would help these blocks to feel less "solid" and instead more like they're made of smaller particles. This texture would apply to these blocks when they are disturbed or dropped for as long as they are falling, and then quickly recede back into the block when they hit a solid surface.

    https://preview.redd.it/0psywxg1xfi71.png?width=694&format=png&auto=webp&s=095d23cf96fc8eab6be2f73f563dcd949fbbfddd

It looks kind of weird like this, but I swear the animation would look much better with the block actually in motion. I always thought they looked kind of weird the way they fell so slowly. This animation I think will help with that, as the trails create a sense of speed/movement. Potentially the entire texture of the block itself could change to reflect that motion, giving it more streaks and having bits look slightly elongated. It's hard to describe, but fellow visual artists probably understand what I'm trying to convey.

Additionally, I think there should be a particle effect for when they hit the ground where they produce a gentle thud and release some particles of themselves at their base. This would create the impression of an actual impact, rather than just a block being re-positioned into place.

    Constellations and Sense of Time

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 09:00 AM PDT

I checked if the stars at night is the same throughout every night. It seemed that is the same and their speed is the same as the sun and moon. The pattern in the sky doesn't change every night. What if we could separate them from the sun and moon?

The speed of the stars will be very slow and it would be noticeable as the moon passes by them. This will make the pattern of stars slowly changes every night. This also add the sense of time like in real life. If the stars had one full rotation, then one year has passed. We could make one Minecraft year to be 365 Minecraft days or 7,300 minutes or 121.67 hours or 5 days. Players mostly sleep to skip the night so this could be halved.

We could also add constellations. I think an enchantment called Stargazing for the helmet would allow the player to see the constellations. Constellations could be items, mobs and structures.

    uncoloring Terracotta

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 05:43 AM PDT

the mechanic would work like this: you put a bucket of water with 8 colored terracotta into the crafting table and get 8 uncolored terracotta. And you get the empty bucket back.

It's a bit annoying if you find a Mesa biome, and have a lot of terracotta that you don't like the color of, but you don't want to just dump the Terracotta out.

What the title implies, a command to set the biome type of a certain area. I think this could work similarly to the /fill command with the usage of coordinates to fill in a specific area with a specific biome.

This would be useful for mapmaking and building, for added atmosphere and ambiance.

    Hidden Potions

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 05:30 AM PDT

You know how you make bottles using glass, but what if you could also craft them using tinted glass? It would make bottles that hid the potion inside.

This would be useful in mini-maps, dungeon design and PvP: you find an unknown potion, will you risk it by drinking it? It could be rigen or weakness, speed or harming…

Also, I can picture a puzzle/trap for the stronghold (or something of that sort) where you're presented with a lava wall and 3 hidden potion (like harming II, poison II and fire resistance) and you have to guess the right one to move on…

Finally, it would also work best with a system like mixing potion (unfortunately this is in the no-no list)

    Defuse-able TNT

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 09:53 AM PDT

Every time I accidentally light a TNT in the wrong place, there's no preventing it from blowing up. If Primed TNT had a hitbox, we would be able to punch the lit TNT before it explodes to kill it and drop a TNT item. This may mean multiple punches in survival and a single punch in creative. The damage dealt will be barely affected by weapon to prevent players from instantly defusing it with a powerful sword.

    Soup upgrade

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 03:26 PM PDT

Firstly, you should be able to have 16 soups in a stack. The fact that soup takes up so much invetory space makes no sense. Like how is steve able to hold 64 steaks but can't hold more than a single serving of stew. Secondly, soups are warm and therefore should give u an effect called "warmth" for 3 minutes. Better soups like rabbit stew give 8 minutes of warmth. When you have the warmth effect, you won't take damage from powdered snow.

This doesn't have anything to do with stew but in my opinion, you should still take damage from powdered snow unless u have a full set of leather armour.

A few upgrades for the dolphin.

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 01:12 PM PDT

Dolphins are a nice mob. They play with items, lead you to treasure and give you Dolphin's Grace. But they could be better.

First of all, more dolphin skins. In real life there are a multitude of dolphin species, that come in all shapes sizes and colors, from the pink Amazonian River dolphin to the killer whale. Adding just a few more skins would make dolphin a little cooler.

Dolphins should also be able to sense whether a chest has been looted already. Seriously, why bother feeding the dolphin at all if it's gonna lead you to the same chest over and over again.

Dolphins should be more playful, maybe spiting a stream of water at you or blowing some bubble rings every once in a while. One behavior I'd really like to see is dolphins occasionally shaping around a pufferfish like a volleyball using their tails and snouts. This is based off of real dolphin behavior.

If you like this suggestion please checkout the post on the Feedback Site so Mojang can see it!

    Better River Idea

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 03:13 PM PDT

    https://imgur.com/a/4PdZuR3

This is what i present. A better river generation to actually generate rivers in a sensical fashion.

Currently rivers follow rules that rivers almost never do such as splitting, Coast to Coast and Breaking.

So these new rivers would start at a lake and go to a coast avoiding splitting and instead converging with other rivers nearby to make a bigger river. The amazon river is the best example having tons of small rivers supplying it. and finally rivers would almost never randomly break

This would bring rivers actual attention and now is the best time to do so.

Add a bog-body "wet" skeleton to appear in Swamps and Jungles.

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 01:14 PM PDT

There's cold skeletons (Strays), hot skeletons (Wither Skeletons), and dry skeletons (the normal version), but there are no "wet" skeletons.

In keeping with the other skeletons' ability to shoot special arrows, a wet skeleton's arrows could inflict Nausea, Mining Fatigue, Slowness or perhaps even Blindness, as if you were suddenly afflicted with some tropical illness such as malaria, dengue fever, or river blindness / onchocerciasis.

Wet skeletons would be able to survive direct sunlight as long as they remain inside a "wet" biome (including Lush Caves) or are standing in water. Otherwise, they function as normal skeletons.

    Cauldron stew revamp

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 05:16 AM PDT

Is there somebody that eats mushroom stew? I guess if you live in a mushroom biome and are desperate. The problem is with the stacking of the bowl, thats why I think stew should be a good food so the stacking downside actually makes sense

For that I suggest stew cauldrons! Here you can make rabbit, mushroom and suspicious stew. Just click it with a bowl to fill a level. Suspicious stew looks different

"Dropping" more ingredients to the cauldron makes the stew more valuable. You can drop any of the ingredients of rabbit stew, mushroom-based items and blocks, and flowers to the mix

    Why this?

    1. New cool food mechanic
    2. Stew is actually worth it
    3. You can make alloys of suspicious stew effects

Emerald jewel Iron nugget Emerald jewel
Iron nugget Iron nugget Iron nugget

Make a gold crown using this method:

    Diamond jewel
Emerald jewel Gold nugget Emerald jewel
Gold nugget Gold nugget Gold nugget

Wear both on your head (not at the same time, of course) and you get a new advancement/ achievement: "All Hail The Player". The description to it will say "Wear two different crowns".

If you put 9 diamond jewels into the crafting grid, you get 1 diamond.

If you put 9 emerald jewels into the crafting grid, you get 1 emerald. This is similar to iron and gold nuggets.
