[Brainstorm] Top Monthly Suggestions for February 2019! This Month's Theme is ORES!

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 11:42 AM PST

Your monthly reminder that yes, there are suggestions that do get over 100 votes from the Minecraft Community.

Here, are showcased all suggestions for the past month that have achieved a vote notoriety beyond 100, as well as the 10 closest stragglers that were just shy of making the choice 3-digit beauty mark.

Since the beginning of the year, our community has been on quite the ride as we started doing some renovations to the Subreddit itself and our Discord server. That is one of the reasons that there was no TMS Report for January. But we are BACK and on a rise!

SO ANYWAYS... for this month, we have an outstanding list of 82 Beautiful Suggestions, with 35 of them being super Luminous 200+, with 13 as Enlightened 300+, & even 2 reaching above 400 to the unprecedented level of ASCENDED!

[A late start to the new year but a strong one nontheless. Let's break this list down into its categories.]

    • Gameplay: 3
    • AI Behavior: 9
    • Blocks & Items: 9
    • Mobs: 17
    • Plants & Food: 3
    • Sounds: 2
    • Terrain: 2
    • Magic: 0
    • Structures: 5
    • Combat: 3
    • Controls: 0
    • Redstone: 2
    • User interface: 1
    • General: 19
    • Weather: 3

Well, it seems Mobs & General were the most popular topics to suggest about this month... and Controls was the least suggested!
A lot of players seem to be focused on bringing more life to the game. Some ideas have also floated around about how Foxes and Villagers can be improve. It is an appropriate time after all!

    THEME: Ores

(I'm sure we can dig up some ideas for this one!)
Every month, we ask the community for suggestions on a specific theme so we can all brainstorm together. This month's theme is "Ores" and everything to do with it! Please use the comments & give all your ideas, big or small, that have to do with things dealing with Ores, Minerals, Caaaaaaaaaves, etc.

    Word of warning though...

    Because Ores is in our "Frequently Posted Suggestions" list, the ores you suggest must have some unique uses;
Not JUST for crafting new tools and armor. Please try avoiding that format. If that is all we see in your post, we might have to remove it. We just want to keep the place open for the best, and most unique suggestions you guys can make!

We're looking forward to seeing your ideas!

    IN OTHER NEWS:

We would like to welcome a few new faces to the team. Welcome Content Moderators u/MysticKoko, u/GreasyTroll4 and u/Planemaster3000! Also welcome new Discord Moderator Itayfeder!

Over the past month, we have partnered with a fine selection of up and coming Brainstorming/Modding Communities! These communities come in the form of Discord servers, all of which have their own introductory chatrooms in our own server. This month we want to shine the light on one community...

    ILLAGERS>VILLAGERS!

This group is brainstorming a mod that would include several different new Illagers and Villagers, as well as some significant revamps to the Illagers and Villagers we have now! They are also looking to revamp old structures like the woodland mansions and add new structures such as an "Illage Base".

If this is something you're interested in being a part of, you can find their channel and invite in the r/minecraftsuggestions discord server!

[Our friends and our communities are enjoying an era of success and prosperity. And through thick and thin, we made it here with the same passion and creativity we had all along!]
    KEEP IT UP, FELLOW SUGGESTIONERS!

<>If there was a suggestion that was missed in this, do let us know below. We haven't yet reached infallible perfection just quite yet, so some mistakes are still within the realm plausibility.<>

Undead mobs (mainly zombies) can't enter churches

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 08:09 AM PST

During a zombie raid if the golem is defeated or can't deal with all the mobs villagers could hide in churches safe from zombies. This would also help players who encounter a village before their first night. This area effect of the church will run out if the priest villager is killed.

[Suggestion] There shout be an option for World Generation to be be more continent based rather than unified land

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 01:18 PM PST

I am not a fan at all of the way the generation works right now all the maps looked from afar are pretty much the same.

So I suggest they give minecraft a continent button for world generation I understand that oceans are not exactly the most fun places but with the way the updates have ravamped the ocean it would be perfect to at least give the option for players to create an old 1.6 style continental world maybe with not as big oceans but with the main focus to be terrain shape diversity and for the people that like the pangea style world right now there is that option too.

If we get a cave update, how about an Arthropod boss?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 04:14 AM PST

3 phase spider, wasp, beetle hybrid. That's pretty much the TL;DR

    3 Phases:

    • First phase is beetle, kind of tanky, slow, fairly high damage, attacks not blocked by shields.
    • Second phase, Wasp, starts flying and becomes ranged, fires it's stingers at you, blocked by shields, moderate damage, burst and multishot stingers.
    • final phase, Spider form low damage, slightly faster than a spider, poisons on hit, spawns baby spiders.

Other notes: the Arthropod boss should be big, maybe somewhere inbetween wither and ender dragon sized. Maybe bigger.

    The Dungeon concept and summoning

The Dungeon would spawn in the biomes that are taller than other biomes. Extreme hills, Plateaus and shattered savannas.

Where would it appear, would the arthropod boss be summonable? Yes and No. I think that it should spawn in a large cave under ground, a dungeon of sorts which is an abnormal cave system. the way it generates prevents you from digging into the main chamber, you'll always dig in to the caves surrounding it.
these caves would have mother spiders and Baby spiders. (See mobs)

The Arthropod boss would be able to be re summoned with a special arthropod egg that is left after defeating it. the arthropod will only hatch when it is in a large cave below a certain Y level.

The main chamber is not able to be destroyed until the Arthropod is killed, similar to elder guardians.

    Rewards

I am not sure of any rewards that would add incentive to fighting this boss, there would obviously be an advancement for finding the spider cave and defeating the boss.
    Possible rewards could be:

    • Close range ore scanner type item or block?
    • Elytra wing upgrades? (higher jumps to allow for easier elytra take offs, faster swimming?)
    • More blocks to build with. Farmable by killing the mother spiders, baby spiders and the boss itself.
    • Feel free to suggest more!

    Mobs

Mother spider: Much like a normal spider, but a bit tankier. When damaged drops 1 baby spider, when killed drops 3.
Baby spider: Much like silver fish, but faster and attack faster than normal enemies slightly transparent and attempt to hide themselves on blocks like a chameleon main inhabitant of the Boss's cave. Fire scares them.

Yes, an Arthropod boss has been suggested, but I wanted to share my idea in one big post, 100% don't expect this to be added, but think it'd be cool if something challenging was added to minecraft, more bosses seems like a great idea for minecraft.

    thanks for reading.

Oak Sapplings grow into Swamp Trees in Swamp Biomes

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 02:06 PM PST

Often when I need wood I'll turn to the closest trees around.

Using sapplings you are able to regrow a forest to it's former glory so this normally isn't a problem.

You can grow every kind of tree with sapplings, Swamp trees are the only exception.

We need a change on how light works in minecraft and how it relates to mobs

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 10:20 AM PST

greetings, after watching this new video from a cubfan -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbuSkIbJ5I4

i realized that i needed to add my thoughts into this discussion. As it currently stands, light in minecraft is limiting not only towards creativity but also towards esthetics. Lets be honest, spamming torches all over your base and yard around your base is not pleasing to the eye. Advanced builders are constantly looking for a way to hide light sources from being visible, which in it self is a limitation. If we are building overhangs, underhangs, shevles and such structures, we are forced to use slabs or to cover areas with carpets, and being forced to use different blocks than what we wish is a limitation towards creativity. Having to constantly count blocks inbetweein light sources, and then look for ways to hide it is just frustrating. Our creativity would sky rocket if we were allowed to use light itself a esthetic tool and not have every of our build shine like suns all the time. Now lets examine what are monsters supposed to represent: Monsters are creatures that lurk in the unknown, ready to attack the player who ventures into their teritory. It is good to have mobs inside caves and structures, but player build are not unknown lands. All in all, we should have a way to somehow avoid this limitations, be it a beacon that disables mobs in its area, or some other change.. All best to everyone reading this, and i hope that you will consider my input. Thanks.

Note Block + Lapis Block = Grand Piano Sounds

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 06:59 PM PST

(Read Until the end, you will have the link for the post on feedback.minecraft.net)

Note Blocks are pretty cool! I mean, they allow you to create actual songs in Minecraft...

But, the default sound of the note block is a "piano". Well, if you compare the Minecraft piano sound with a RL piano, you will see that they are very, very different.

Lapis Blocks are pretty useless, their only use could be that you can store lapis in it, but I don't see that as a really useful thing.

So, what if a Noteblock + Lapis Block = a Grand Piano?

This would open up a space for an instrument that wasn't really in the game. The grand piano sounds would be awesome!

Give the post on feedback.minecraft.net some love, so that Mojang see it! https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360042527971-Note-Block-Lapis-Block-Grand-Piano-Sounds :)

More Geographical Land Features in the Overworld

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 09:10 AM PST

Recently someone suggested improved river generation which I thought was a good idea but it could be taken one step further to give the world more charector (although im not sure minecraft world generator could handle this).

Rivers (already suggested on anouther thread but this but its worth resuggesting)

-Upper course to a river which should be mountionious V-shaped valleys with steap sides, interlocking spurs, waterfalls, a river source and a fast flowing current

-Middle course to a river which should include Meanders (river curves), Oxbow lakes (curves that became lakes), sand deposites and a medium flowing current

-Lower course to a river which should include a wide river which is satured with dirt (brownish colour), slow flowing, flood plains, estuaries and deltas (river splits into many rivers and can rejion main river) and a river mouth (Part were the river meets the ocean).

Formation cause by glaciation - In cold climate without snow

-Cories which include a steep back wall with plucked rocks, abraded rock face, scree slope/lake and a rock bar/lip (armchair shape carved into a montian by a glacier)

-Mountian Knife Edged Ridge (two corries back to back)

-Sharp mountion peak (three cories that form a point)

-U-Shaped valley which includes steep walls and a flat valley floor (a v-shaped valley eroded by a glacier)

    -Deposited boulders carried by glaciers

Glaciers - Different types of glaciers in snowy biomes

-Valley Glaciers (U shpape valley forming)

    -Corrie Glaciers (corrie forming)

-Tributarry Glaciers (two glaciers forming one main glacier)

-Different types of moriane (graval/stones being carried by a glacier)

-Different layers of snow/ice (this is basically already in the game with snow, ice and compacted ice)

    Coastal Land Formations

    -Stone Arches

-Sea caves on the side of cliffs

    -Tall Stone Stacks (stone pillar)

    -Sea Stump (small boulders)

-Bays (basically a valley created by sea erosian)

-Lagoons (a sandbar that create a lake on the coast)

-Sandbars (a large deposit of sand that can connect to an island)

Honestly this is just the stuff I can remember from geography at school and there planty of suff I havn't mentioned that belongs to different biomes like deserts for example.

Also if you read all of that then thank you. Sorry it was so long-winded

    Giant letters

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 08:52 AM PST

The idea is to add a new block, type banner, frame or sign, showing one big (very big) letter of the alphabet that can be wroten using the forge, or perhaps some of the new machines added in 1.14 (initially it should be possible to insert exotic letters such as ñ, diacritical marks and some unicode symbols, things needed for other languages ).

But you can add giant letters using banners with specific patterns currently.

Of course, but some letters are extremely hard (or impossible) to make with flags in survival mode, needs special expensive and rare items, or consumes a lot of time, work and effort.

Also, an special problem comes when you want to recreate strange unicode symbols, or very complex symbols (like kanjis and chinesse, korean and japanese characters), using banners.

And, also... giant letters in banners aren't very stetical when your objective is to recreate solid or sculpted giant letters for specific purposes, as well as needs extra space (2 blocks of height).

    Remove capes entirely

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 04:33 PM PST

The cape system has never added anything good to Minecraft. All it does is create people begging for them, servers and mods selling them, and a lot of animosity and hate. There is simply no reason for a feature that only makes the game worse.

    Water Variation

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 02:14 PM PST

I feel they should have already done this in The Aquatic Update (1.13), but different types of water buckets. What I mean is the water in the bucket, will save the color depending on what biome it is from. All pre-existing water buckets are plains by default. It does not have to change the texture of the water bucket

Example: When you take water from a Lukewarm Ocean, it is a Lukewarm Ocean Water Bucket.

Example Image (used discord because it was the easiest way without me signing up for a new account or something stupid like that.):

    Horizontal banners (flags)

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 09:38 AM PST

The idea is to give the ability of craft and create horizontal banners (flags) or to give the ability of flip 90 degrees the existent banners.

These "horizontal banners" or flags would have the same patterns as vanilla banners, and the same pattern inking mechanics... Basically they would be horizontal banners.

Perhaps, these could wave, like real life flags when are exposed to wind.

This would be useful for certain decoration in single player and multiplayer, and for create more visible marks for interesting zones in survival.

Putting blue ice beneath a camp fire reverses the gravity of the smoke particals

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 07:42 PM PST

Im not saying it makes sense, but it could be a cool twist on the way dry ice makes fog and could allow for things like big smoak particals coming out of the boosters of your rocket

    Ideas for 1.14

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 12:45 PM PST

1.14 development is slowly coming to an end. Before they release the version I have some ideas that could be put into the game.

    Dock Village / Fishing Village

A Village that is always near oceans, every Villager there is fisherman and are selling/trading fish and fishing rods.

    Big Bad Pillager Boss

Boss that appears as final enemy in a raid, he would be bigger than your usual Pillager and would be much stronger. He uses some special unique attacks and is fast. He might drop some either new rare items or any other rare item.

    "Knights" Villagers

The special type of Villagers that have swords and armors and are protecting Villages from enemies. They have their own unique skin and are a lot stronger than usual Villagers.

    Pirates and Sailing Villagers

Sailing Villagers are the one that are sailing in Ships or in group of small boats. They are delivering goods to the Villagers and traders, and could trade literally almost anything to the Player. But beware, they might be attacked by Pirates, that are sailing through the oceans and are taking treasures and killing the Player and Villagers.

    Tasks

Similar to Quests, Player wanders from Village to Village and solves the Village's task, for example to defeat a boss, mine some ore, discover buried treasure or something else that is near that Village.

Current development of 1.14 so far just improved the style of Villages, skin of Villagers and added new event, enemies and stuff, but let's be honest, that is still not enough for the game. What Villagers right now need is interaction with them. Talking perhaps? Buying and selling to them? Doing their Quests or something similar. Yeah, that is it. Since the update is about them, we truly do need more than just re-skinned Villagers and new Village styles (sure for each Biome its quite amazing). Not to mention that Mojang will now have competition with Hytale, so Minecraft needs some much bigger updates.

Sorry if I made any mistakes as English is not my native language.

    Diving

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 03:51 PM PST

Sprinting while falling should make you dive and fall faster with more mobility. Sprinting with levitation should kind of make you swim through the air and when sprinting face down can avoid floating away too far.

No guns but why not dynamite?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 02:54 PM PST

Although we have TNT, what about adding dynamite to this game? Of course, it has less power than TNT, but has a special perk. You can throw dynamite to destroy objects from a distance! Think of the (griefing) possibilities. Dynamite may be crafted from the same ingredients as TNT, but in a different fashion.

Lecturns could have enchabted books that give beacon like effects to players

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 01:57 PM PST

My idea is that lectures could use rare to find enchanted books to produce an area of effect like a beacon .It could even be that you don't know what the effect is until you open the book so it could be good or bad.

    Shadow Zombies (name pending)

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 05:38 AM PST

Shadow Zombies are a type of End Mob that only spawns in the outer End islands and rarely in the overworld in hordes.

    AI

    1. They spawn in groups of 3-6
    2. They are neutral unless you enter their territory (explained bellow)
    3. When spawned, the group claims the nearby area as their territory (about 20-30 blocks around them, depending on their group size), Anything that wanders into their territory will be attacked, even other shadow zombies
    4. avoid water and lava, as it will hurt them
    5. Doesn't teleport much, only teleports when chasing an enemy or when stuck in water or lava
    6. They will become neutral again when they chase you out of their territory

    Attacks

    1. Shadow zombies attack by teleporting in front or behind you to deliver a punch before teleporting back, ranged weapons are recommended
    2. they only have 10 hearts of health (20 hit points), they can't spawn with armor, although they can pick up armor and weapons on the ground
    3. They give you blindness for a few seconds with they deliver an attack (0-2 seconds on easy; 1-3 seconds on normal and 2-5 seconds on hard)

    Drops

    1. 10% chance ender pearl
    2. 5% Shadow zombie head
    3. 55% 0-3 shadow Powder

Shadow zombie heads are just a decoration like the dragon head, when powered with redstone, it will spew out purple particles every few seconds

    Shadow powder's uses:

    1. brewing potions of blindness---only for a 3 seconds or it will be too OP
    2. Acts as a "bone-meal" for Chorus plants
    3. Can be crafted into ender charges, like this:
Shadow powder Shadow powder Shadow powder
Shadow powder Fire charge Shadow powder
Shadow powder Shadow powder Shadow powder

They, unlike normal fire charges, can be thrown by hand and will explode, leaving a cloud of purple particles that hurt everything that steps on it.

Breeding two differently coloured animals should produce either a mixed, patterned, or a new coloured variant of that mob.

    Posted: 03 Mar 2019 09:34 PM PST

Like in real life! A black cat when bred with white cat will have a kitten with black and white markings for example. Does not happen to all mobs, but most animal mobs have this.

    Quartz Golem

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 10:55 AM PST

its a new mob for the nether called a Quartz Golem that spawns in groups but only around golem caverns. a golem cavern would be similar to a witch hut in the case that the golems can only spawn in that region. the golems will be a mob that will drop nether quartz which will allow a more automated way of collecting nether quartz by making a mob farm for the golems.

An option to have a seperate camera sensitivity while crouching, mainly for controller users

    Posted: 04 Mar 2019 10:08 AM PST

As someone who has minecraft on the nintendo switch, I like to have a higher game sensitivity (camera turning speed) so I can get things done faster. This helps a ton for efficiency, but it makes it more difficult to do very precise things, such as placing iron bars, clicking a far away button, or shooting a bow at something far away. Unlike PC users, console players cannot easily have different camera turning speeds. (I don't know if the stick can be held lighter to slow it down, but even if that was the case, it is still hard on some controllers)

I suggest that the camera sensitivity while crouching can be a different value from not crouching. That way, console players could have a more precise aim along with the faster sensitivity when needed. This would make long range attacks and efficient, precise building finally possible on console.

Of course, the crouching camera sensitivity can just be set to the same value as the standard value to disable the effects.
