Minecraft Enchantment "reach" that extends your reach

Enchantment "reach" that extends your reach

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 10:11 AM PDT

Do you hate it when you're chopping down a tree and there's one block you just can't reach? do you hate it when the skeleton with a power bow hits you back just far enough that you can't hit it? well, with this new Reach enchantment all of that will go away!

The reach enchantment can be applied to axes, pickaxes, swords, shovels, and hoes (and any other tools/melee weapons I may have missed) and extends the block range by one per enchantment. It would go up to either Reach III or Reach V (acquired by combining two Reach IV items) and would be a very useful enchantment. I think It would be a great addition to Minecraft.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you will consider adding the Reach enchantment to Minecraft™.

    Have a great day! -Bond

An enchantment for weapons called “Familiarity” that keeps you from harming tamed animals

Drinking potions of luck gives you discounts on Villager trades.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 10:24 AM PDT

Using an analogy to begin with this suggestion, imagine that you go to a shopping mall to buy something you want and find out that product's cost is 30% off. Lucky day!!

I want with this suggestion to give this feeling during gameplay. So, for it, basically the player need to drink a potion of luck to receive a discount for every trade made with a villager (until the end of the luck effect). However, if the player is affected by a bad luck effect, the opposite happens, with means the cost of trades will be increased. For each level of luck (or bad luck) the cost of the trade will reduce (or increase) in one item, unless for the trades that already require only one item. Also, the decrease of costs made by luck would work too if the player is "popular" and/or he has the upcoming "Hero of the village" effect.

The major reason why I believe this would be an interesting addition, and one that would not break the current demand and supply based trades it's because, on bedroom edition, there is the "Hero of the village" effect, that does almost the same thing, but in order to get this effect you need defeat a raid. Considering that this will be implemented in java, adding the correlation of luck effect reducing trade costs would be important for peaceful players, due to the fact raids aren't available on this game mode.

Another good reason to add this feature is that it gives another use for luck attribute to the game, with still is not much used.

Due to the fact that potions of luck are not brewable, this feature would not break the trading overall that Mojang are doing with the villagers, and could also improve their amazing work so far, either would break Minecraft balance on peaceful, because looking for potions of luck on chests last longer than defeating a raid in other game modes.

Feel free to give any criticism about this matter and to make this suggestion on the mojang website.

    Music Should Play in Villages

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 12:07 AM PDT

The Aquatic update started what I though would become a trend: Themed music. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to by any new tracks in this update. I think that friendly cheerful "Market place" Music should play in villages. There would of course be an option to turn this off.

Here are the different types of tracks:

    1. Normal music that plays in the day
    2. Soft peaceful music at night
    3. Fight music during a raid
    4. Triumphant music after a raid clear

    Fish nets

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 09:07 AM PDT

Fish nets would be placeable blocks in water, height of a halfslab. They attract fish and catch junk items. After 10 fish attracted (or 20 junk items), the fish net breaks into 1-3 string, BUT the fish escape. It is crafted using 5 string in a helmet shape. Also, barrels in fishermen buildings should be replaced by fish nets, work site also. Bamboo should also be caught as a junk item.

    Edit: dispensers can dispense nets.

[Repost] Lying Skeletons can generate all over the world (link with images). It is "under review" on the Feedback Site with 930 votes! Please vote if you like it (more votes = more chances to have them in Minecraft)

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 12:35 AM PDT

    Base Concept
Dead (motionless) skeletons can be occasionally found in structures, dungeons and caves with different poses (lying on the ground, leaning against a wall, etc.).

Images and details on the Feedback Site <-- Vote here

This suggestion is "under review" on the official Feedback Site. This means that the developers are considering it, but there are no guarantees that it will be added to the game. In spite of this, the more votes there are, the higher the chance that it will be accepted. That's why (if you like the idea) I ask you to vote on the Feedback Site. Every vote counts :)

Please note that this is NOT an horror feature, but this is about adventure and exploration.

    Phantom Castles/Hives and Parasites

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 02:01 PM PDT

So I really like phantoms and I would think it would be really cool if there was like an aarea for them. So it would be a floating island, not too big but still spacey. It would be a small castle with holes at the bottom so phantoms could fly out of it. there would be 2-3 floors, and one of them includes a dimly lit library that includes a phantom queen. Killing the queen would allow you to craft a phantom glider, similar to the elytra. There would also be a new mob called Parasites. They look like drowned but are darker and have glowing green eyes like the phantoms. They have missing parts out of their scalp that shows bits of skull. They would carry iron weapons such as axes and swords. Killing them would drop Parasite Brain Chunks that would be used to craft revival stars (other idea). This would be cool because it would give more background the the phantoms and make it seem like phantoms can carry a disease that can transfer to humans.

    Obelisks!

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 11:37 AM PDT

Howdy y'all, Im here to propose a new mob/mechanic, the obelisk! The obelisk would be an alternative to the enchanting table.

    Mechanics

Obelisks would be 4 blocks high and would have a hole at the 3rd block. Obelisks are found in caves and can be picked up with a diamond pickaxe. The obelisk would need a sign placed on it to work, the sign has to have the name of an aggressive mob on it. (Zombie, zombie, zombie etc, just needs to have the name on it.) This excludes the ender dragon and the giant, the obelisk will generate the enchanting particle from its top when everything is set up properly.

Enchanting. You would throw an item that can be enchanted into the hole of the working obelisk. The obelisks hole will close and the mob you wrote down will appear, you must defeat the mob to claim your item which will now be enchanted with a random enchant depending on how intense the mob is. (Zombie would be unbreaking, a ghast would give you flame for example) when fighting the mob you gain no EXP but still mob drops. The Obelisk can enchant items that are already enchanted.

Obelisk Fight Theres a fun mob in store. If you write "Obelisk" on the sign and throw an enchantable item in the Obelisks hole, the obelisk will grow an eye. This is a boss fight. The Obelisks eye is where it can take damage, so good luck trying to hit it, it has around 70 health points. The Obelisk will jump in the air and try to stomp on you, if it lands on you directly it deals half your health, the stomping will cause 2 block far in all direction shockwaves which do 2 hearts of damage. The Obelisk will shoot flame arrows through its eye rapidly, and finally, the obelisk will summon 5 of a random weak mob to attack you. The obelisk will drop your item you threw in when defeated, and revert back to a normal obelisk.

Obelisks Spirit The item the obelisk drops when defeated has the enchantment: Obelisks Spirit, everytime its used it will use a random enchantment at max level power.

In conclusion, why did you read this dumb post, go read the other posts about magic because this is in no way possible, go away and stop wasting your time.

cool that villagers do more things with beds and crafting stations. but they all still die in one night

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 12:14 PM PDT

villagers have incredibly stupid AI. you can't keep village alive without trapping them in safe spot because or they get stuck somewhere and die to zombies, don't go to home in night and die to zombies, or other random reasons. and because 1.14 is in polishing state now, i think mojang need to take care about their AI and do something so they will not die in 1 night while you are going to mine or something.

tl;dr villagers stupid, pls make them not stupid

    Locomotives and trains!

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 12:08 PM PDT

Furnace minecarts are used by nearly no-one nowadays; they're rather expensive to run, they're slow and they're unpredictable. I have a solution to that, locomotives!

The function of the furnace minecart would be moved to being a portable furnace, while the locomotives would have the function of getting cargo around.

They could look like your average steam engine, have a seat on it, have brakes that can be toggled, maybe be able to attach a bell to it and even possibly add an interface.

If you've ever watched Back to the Future III (which is a great movie BTW), thenyou might remember Doc Brown using multiple coloured logs that burn a LOT more efficiently, eventually causing the train to reach very high speeds and dangerously high boiler pressure.

This could be applied to certain fuels used in the locomotive as well, in which certain fuels burn longer and more efficiently. For example, a log of wood would be used up quickly and produce a lot less speed, while a bucket of lava would be used up slowly and reach high speeds.

Same could be said for boiler pressure, if it becomes too high, the locomotive blows up with a violent BANG, potentially killing the player and destroying the railway. But this pressure limit would have to be high so the player could only reach it by excessively dumping fuel into the engine.

The locomotive would have to have a steady supply of water to work, requiring the player to occasionally stop to refill water, making the engine not too overpowered.

The interface while riding the locomotive could look like the interface of riding a donkey with a chest, the "jump bar" would be replaced with a boiler pressure bar, the donkey's health bar would be replaced with a water bar, its saddle slot replaced with a bell slot and its chest inventory would be replaced with a fuel inventory.

Minecart chains could be added to create actual trains, I would explain them myself but another user has already posted about them so I will link it here. The upside to this is that trains will allow for easy transportation of players, mobs, items and more. The downside is that each minecart and mob on the train will increase its weight.

Heavier trains will accelerate slower, have a lower max speed, slow down faster when out of fuel and derail easily.

Trains can be derailed by turning sharp corners at high speeds or by decelerating very quickly, causing the train segments to fly off the tracks, potentially destroying the chains keeping them together.

Locomotives are very powerful, so it should be hard to make them. It could potentially be assembled piece by piece, consisting of a minecart, a boiler and a furnace. The boiler could be made at the new smithing table with multiple tiers; iron, golden and diamond. These would be made by using multiple blocks of the aforementioned tiers. Each tier would have a different pressure limit, for example, the iron boiler can barely withstand a bucket of lava without exploding while the diamond boiler can handle a constant stream of lava just fine.

Thanks for taking your time to read this, I hope you like the idea!

    Potion of Deadweight!

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 11:57 AM PDT

Howdy dweebs, I have a simple potion idea. The potion of deadweight is the opposite of slow fall, in which it makes you HEAVIER in where you instantly drop to the ground at the speed of fallimg from jump height from build limit and making you sink to the bottom of the ocean in 2 seconds. You still take fall damage so rip you. You craft it with iron nuggets, this could be useful paired with a potion of water breathing or resistance, so its more of a neutral potion then a negative one.

    Sponge Block for Lava: "Pumice"

    Posted: 13 Mar 2019 08:45 PM PDT

I think it makes sense to have a sponge-like block that works for lava, the same way 'sponge' works for water.

It could be called "Pumice" & "Saturated Pumice", after the Pumice rock that forms from volcanic eruptions that is light-weight and full of porous cavities (just like the 'Sponge' block).

It could be found as a treasure item in Nether Fortresses, just like Sponge is found in Ocean Monuments.

When you use it to soak up lava, it changes from Pumice, to Saturated Pumice.

You could change it back by 'melting' the lava out of it in a Blast Furnace.

Would make it a lot easier to clear out magma chambers in the Overworld to get to Ores, and to drain sections of the Nether, to create under-lava hidden bases.

It could have a texture similar to Sponge, except grey or black. Which would help it double as a nice decorative block.

    Does Mojang care?

    Posted: 13 Mar 2019 08:28 PM PDT

I've added a TL;DR at the end for those short on time.

I've always thought this subreddit was a great place to see what the community wants. The most common things are a Mining update, a Nether update, and an actual Combat Update. People have been suggesting these things for years. This is also most likely the best place to give suggestions, seeing how two major developers are moderators here.

Yet... it doesn't seem like anyone is listening.

The most popular posts of all time are probably the ones that are actually seen - and of these super popular posts, only one suggestion has made it into the game (the top post on this subreddit, FYI). It was by a MC YouTuber with 800k subscribers, asking for colored beacons to be added. Then, there are pages upon pages of great suggestions that are never realized.

Now, I understand the devs are incredibly busy people, and they can't be constantly checking this subreddit, yada yada yada. But features like more weapons, a mining update, and more have been suggested for YEARS, on all sorts of platforms.

1.14 is not an update for the community. No one asked for a separate way to store fish. If anything, it's geared towards a small number of super-dedicated survival players who care about every little feature in the game, such as Hermitcraft.

1.14 added in this "revitalized" villager trading system, with levels, and reputation, and everything - despite the fact that the old system worked fine.

They added in these countless convoluted new blocks that could be used to craft things (cartography tables, you name it) - despite the fact that most players will continue to use crafting tables.

They add in foxes and turtles and llamas and polar bears, and give so little complexity to their AI that they are forgotten about within a month. When was the last time you remembered there was a parrot in Minecraft? If only they had a creative benefit or feature to them besides looking cute and perching on your shoulder.

They add in these "pillager raids", which certainly are a cool idea - but there is no interesting reward for defeating all the pillagers and saving the village.

Of all of the features in 1.14, I would say the scaffolding is literally the only feature that

    1. Allows people to do creative things with them.
    2. Adds new complexity to the game that was not present before.

You simply can't do anything creative with something like "loom", except maybe spare yourself time looking up the banner recipes online.

I understand that adding more complexity in the game is great! But when all these vestigial features get added in before the stuff people ask for, it looks like Mojang literally does not care. People have asked for a better weapons system since after 1.9, which came out THREE years ago. Is the idea of having viable weapons besides a bow, a sword, and a trident so incredibly stupid? What about all those countless mods that include daggers and spears and the like?

And it's not just 1.14, either. Almost every update since 1.9 has not added in a substantial amount of meaningful features. The only exception is 1.13, which finally made water and oceans interesting to work with. Other than that, it's been a slough of forgettable mobs, items, and structures.

To see this in effect, just look at multiplayer servers, which are a still very large part of MC. Almost all of them still use 1.8. This is because none of their players care enough about the features in 1.9+ to bother asking the server owners to update everything. That is not a very good sign.

So, will anything be done? Will this post suddenly cause Mojang to listen to the players more? Well, no. But hopefully, this will give you an answer to why you probably don't look forward to updates as much as you used to.

    TL;DR

Mojang doesn't really listen to what people suggest

The things they add have little to no complexity

"Unneeded" features are prioritized over wanted ones
