Minecraft They should add salt to Minecraft.

They should add salt to Minecraft.

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 10:33 AM PST

Salt should be a new mine-able block that requires a pickaxe and can be found underground. It should be slightly rarer than iron, and when mined, it should drop 1 - 4 "crushed salt" items. It would offer another ore to find while mining, and open up a lot of new opportunities:

    1. Salt mines. Salt mines could be a variation on abandoned mineshafts with slightly different structure where salt is found more commonly than normal. This could add variety to the underground and could be used for different types of loot, such as iron helmets, pickaxes, and stacks of stone from old miners who were there before. It would also add opportunity for different structures and shapes in mines.

    2. Salt Deposits biome. There could be a rare ocean / beach biome called "Salt Deposits". It would be a very shallow water field (2 - 5 blocks deep) with no undersea life. Instead, it would have small pillars of salt blocks coming out of the ocean mixed with sand and stone.

    3. Cured meats. Combining raw meat with the "crushed salt" item would result in a cured meat (Cured Beef, Cured Rabbit, Cured Porkchop, etc.) This would allow you to eat the meat without the possibility of getting sick, and would fill your hunger bar more than eating it raw would.

    4. Salt licks. Combining two sticks with four "crushed salt" items in a diagonal pattern should result in a "salt lick". Salt licks should be items that resemble torches in appearance, but with a white salt cube instead of fire. Placing one would attract nearby cows, horses, sheep, and llamas to it for a limited time before they "eat" the lick and it disappears.

    5. Salt placement. Holding crushed salt and right clicking on a block will "place" salt down on that block and will consume 2 crushed salt. Salt will appear as small white dots on the block. Phantoms cannot cross "lines" of blocks that have been salted (although they can go around them unless the salt has been placed in a circle formation around an area), Slimes and Snowmen will be damaged by walking on salted blocks, and "salting" any ice will result in it melting.

    Aurorae in cold biomes

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 04:06 AM PST

Makes the night (and occasionally day) skies prettier. The aurorae move slowly, gradually through the Minecraft colour scheme, and provide a light level of around 4 levels. They are best seen at night. Turning off clouds makes them even more visible. They may even appear while it rains, although they are less visible in rain. Hostile mobs are less likely to spawn when an aurora is around. Aurorae can form amazing pattetns in the sky, and are usually seen in clear weather. They have a very low to high chance of occuring depending on the biome. You can make them appear in Creative with the weather command, and set the Aurora's colours and duration and speed of movement.

My suggestion for a complete revamp of the combat system

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 02:15 PM PST

Firstly I'd like to make a disclaimer that this will sound complicated in paper, I'm not great at explaining things, but when it's actually envisioned, I think that this combat system would be both fun and not hard to get used to. The main goal is to make it more fast-paced while still being strategic and open to multiple different approaches.

Firstly, instead of using cooldowns, let's say- there's a stamina bar on the corner of the screen. You can attack for as long as that stamina bar isn't empty, it doesn't matter if there's only a bit filled up, if it is- you can still attack, but things are going to go slower if you don't wait it to go up at least a little bit. The stamina bar would fill itself up automatically at a decently quick pace.

When it comes to attack speed- the whole 1.9 concept of different weapons having different speeds is still there. However- to make Swords less boring to use and a lot quicker too, they'd have something I can only describe as "combos"

Basically, if you click fast, you'll be able to execute up to 3 attacks a little faster than if you were to just wait. Meaning that with a diamond sword, you'd be able to quickly kill a single zombie with a single combo, each swing in a combo would have its own animation, just to make it more visually appealing.

Next, sword blocking is back, but not as a replacement for shields, in fact, shields are a lot better, but if you're in a situation where you don't have one, or cant use one, it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot.

The catch is that Swords can only block other swords, if the sword you're blocking is made from the same material as yours, the attack will be successfully blocked but you'll lose 1 durability, if the sword you're blocking is made from a weaker material, there is only a 50% chance you'll lose durability, if it's made from a stronger material however, your sword will be temporarily "disabled" in the same way shields are currently disabled if an axe strikes them. Besides that, it'd mostly be nice to have sword blocking back for server interactions. But... if you'd like to make it more useful.

I suggest a new enchantment, not sure what it'd be called, but it'd make sword blocking work as a way to "power up" your sword. Say your stamina bar is full, and you block, the bar would start to go down, keep it blocked until it reaches the end and your sword will be "charged", this simply means your next attack will do as much damage as a critical hit would.

Next up... the sweep attack, honestly, just make it so that to execute a sweep attack the player must be crouching, that way you stop doing it accidentally. Either that, or make it so that "short" mobs are immune to it, including pets, so they're no longer accidentally hit.

Aand that's basically it, let me know if there's anything I could improve about it. Here are some graphics too: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/307894142095327232/553343753524477952/Combat_Suggestion.png

Slabs should take the same or less time to break than their full block counterparts.

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 08:23 AM PST

I don't feel like it should take more time to break something that is effectively less of a block. At the very least, it should take the same amount of time to break.

a "impersonate" property for armor stands: causes the game code and AI to act as if the armor stand is the specified entity type

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 11:41 AM PST

    Examples:

    • data merge entity @s {Impersonate:"minecraft:villager"}, zombies would path towards the armor stand / would attempt to attack it. Villages would count the armor stand towards the cap
    • data merge entity @s {Impersonate:"minecraft:item"}, dolphins would swim towards the armor stand and try to "play" with it (though would be unable to pick it up)
    • data merge entity @s {Impersonate:"minecraft:player"}, enemy mobs would attempt to attack the armor stand, mobs would spawn in the area around the armor stand (and would not spawn within 24m of the armor stand). [probably shouldn't cause chunks to load]

Why? Primarily: testing things. This would allow command block (and datapack) creators to easily test the way the game "reacts" to different entities in a more-controlled way, eliminating many variables.

But this would also open up many opportunities for mapmakes to control not just AI behaviour, but game code, in interesting ways. Unlike invisible/invulnerable/noAI mobs, armor stands also have the "marker" property, meaning their hitbox can be completely ignored. Allowing the stand to also mimic players also opens up possibilities which are currently not possible even through "work arounds".

the "Hipotermy" potion (better names in the comments)

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 09:10 AM PST

Endermen and Blazes already have this thing, if you have this effect you will play like normal, but water will hurt you, on Blazes&Endermen this will do nothing since they already die by water, but things like fish, Guardians and everything spawns underwater will be immune to not make this OP against them, 1 thing: when I'm saying water will harm the affected creature I'm meaning it will damage you even if your head is outside so you don't lose air, but still get damage...

    An Upgrade to the Llama

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 11:10 AM PST

I don't think the Llama is a bad mob but I feel it should have a bit more use than it dose now currently in the game so here are some ideas. These ideas may have already been suggest but I wanted to put mine out their.

    1. Make it that llamas can be sheared. When they are sheared they will still look like normal llamas and not naked like a sheared sheep. They will drop around three to four pieces of wool.

    2. Allow Llamas to be dye-able. I think it would be fun to be able to dye llamas.

    3. Have them like mules be able to equipped with a chest and allow the player to be able to open the chest. Since llamas in real life are known as luggage animals like camels I feel that they should be able to be equipped with a chest that will allow that player to hold or remove their items while they travel.

    Stop using should/would/need in posts

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 02:53 PM PST

Mojang isn't obligated to add anything into the game, and if they implement your idea they can implement it how they want. I'm tired of every post saying "x should/needs to be put in. It should/would include y and z."

    Instead use:

X COULD be added and it MIGHT include y and z.

I would like x to be changed and I think it could use y and z.

Glowstone lamp emits a light level that corresponds to the redstone signal strength it receives.

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 08:53 PM PST

Coincidentally, light levels and redstone signal strength both go from 0-15. This means, in theory, making an adjustable light-level block is a simple 1-1 conversion.

This would allow us to more easily control light and potentially create "dimmer switches" using the same lamps. It would also help with mood lighting. Or signalling.

Right clicking a pumpkin with flint n steel should turn it into a jack o lantern.

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 03:02 PM PST

Just a thought. Perhaps they could also/only be able to be right clicked with torches to become jack o lanterns because thats what jack o lanterns are crafted with.

    Magnifying glass

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 02:45 PM PST

    Dear fellow Minecraft players,

I think that a magnifying glass could now have a specific use in Minecraft: zooming when watching maps. Since we can make low resolution maps, we could put the map on the ground and then right click on the map with the magnifying glass. We would, for example, have Q key to zoom and E key to dezoom, and the usual keys would allow to move right, left, top or bottom. Right click again would allow the player to go out from the map inspection mode.

So that we still need item frames to display maps, the "putting map on ground" action would lead the map to automatically remove itself and drop as an item after, e. g., 10s if we don't use our magnifying glass on it. This would simulate the fact that just putting a paper on the ground without acting on it would not fix it on the ground.

Of course, we could also right click on maps on item frames and benefit from the same zooming action on them as well.

The formula for the magnifying glass can be, for example, four sticks in Y shape and a glass pane on top middle square.

What do you think about it?

    Best regards.

A way to make village houses which extend down mountains more sensible and less unsightly.

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 05:39 PM PST

I highly doubt I'm the first person to think of this, but..

Basically, when a village house is all elongated and tall on account of it generating on the edge of a cliff or ravine, rather than it being an eyesore and consisting of solid stone, why not give it multiple floors? I remodelled an instance of this happening in-game to see it in action.

Here's a gif of the final product.

It's less unsightly and serves as a practical way for players and villagers to scale the side of the mountain to reach the rest of the village (at least in the example's instance). Additionally, I think it would be cool if each of the floors were randomly generated for variety's sake.

An end credit-like montage of the advancesments page when you die on hardcore

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 09:11 PM PST

It could be kinda like your life flashing before your eyes and could also be similar to the ender dragon credits. And to be clear I mean the actual GUI that comes up when you hit [L], not a montage of you completing advancements.

    Goats!

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 04:36 PM PST

    Goats are cool.

They spawn in the place of sheep sometimes, maybe at a 50/50 split rate, but more commonly in mountains.

What can you do with one? Aside from companionship, they can be milked like a cow. They also bleat more frequently when hostile mobs or players come close when tamed, and may even help the player fight sometimes.

They attack when attacked by rearing up headbutting their foes, causing knockback and mild damage.

They can be tamed by being fed anything edible and contained within a fence, but if you leave them alone they might escape captivity because they're notorious escape artists in real life.

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 01:34 AM PST

A new negative effect, this will change the behavior of the entity with water, if you get this effect you"ll be able to live underwater but 30 seconds outside water and you will get damage slowlly 'til he will die, mobs with this effect will run into water to not die, I think it will change the fighting rules

    Redstone Contradictor (New Block)

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 06:49 PM PST

This block would have a variety of uses, all related to signal, but in an inverse way.

Right-clicking will change state (Inverse, Side, and Side Inverse). What will these states do if you may ask? Well, here they are.

    "Inverse" Abilities:

-When inputting a power level of 15, 0 power comes out. The same goes for 14 and 1, 13 and 2, and so on. (shortening long lines of redstone by decreasing pulse length)

-Any power level other than zero can be input to a repeater

    "Side" Abilities:

-If both sides have equal power levels, the front and back will give off a 15 power level.

-If both do not match each other's power, the left sides power will go forward from the direction placed, and the right will go back.

    "Side Inverse"

-Does the exact inverse of the side, giving 0 when both are the same and left now goes backward and right goes forward.

This is open to more discussion and I have a small bit of concept art below:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/vww3ixxlk6sd7s2/hqdefault.jpg?dl=0

I hope this fits and any edits will be personally looked at by me.

Thank you and have a great day!
