    Sextant and Astrolabe

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 07:51 AM PDT

I would like to suggest two new exploration focused items, the Sextant and the Astrolabe.

Sextant - reveals to the player their x,y,z coordinates in real time (same as hitting F3 in Java) this would allow an ingame way of seeing where you are (without having to resort to hitting F3 all the time)

Astrolabe - allows the player to input x,y,z coordinates and have the pointer direct them to said coordinates. Basically a "programmable" compass.

Please Mojang, if you are listening, these two items would be a great quality of life improvement.

    What do you all think?

villagers should call for help when in danger

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 12:51 AM PDT

to be honest, in raids, iron golems, unless in large groups, are pretty bad at their job, so I think that when an illager, pillager, witch or zombie is locked on to a villager, they would call the iron golems. When an iron golem receives a call from a villager, they would go to aid the villager.

Iron golems would always prioritize helping the villagers with the most entities chasing it

    Blood Moons

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 08:52 AM PDT

Blood moons are rare phenomena where the full Moon passes into the Earths shadow. The moon doesn't go completely black due to the gases in the atmosphere that colour it a crimson-rusty red. This phenomenon lasts several minutes, and can be viewed anytime there is a full Moon, but you need to be lucky.

    In Minecraft:

Full moons should have a small chance of becoming a blood moon. When the moon turns red, the light will become a little red.

Effects on mobs: Wild wolves will be hostile all the time during the blood moon. Undead mobs have their spawn rate greatly increased, skeleton arrows will be tipped with a mild harming effect, and black cats have a greater chance of spawning than usual. Witches have their power increased a little, and bats damage the player and can bite them much like phantoms for about half a heart.

    If it rains:

Rain will always be a storm during a blood moon. Rain will be red instead of the usual blue, increasing the chance of zombies and zombie villager/skeleton spawning. If a wolf is out by a blood moon, it transforms temporarily into a werewolf, which is far more aggressive, and will pursue the player, even on horseback for 50 blocks away. They can break down doors, so use iron doors to avoid this.

    On halloween:

On halloween, the moon will always be a blood moon. This allows for a much scarier night.

In peaceful mode, the chance of a blood moon is very rare, but common in hard mode.

Players should be able to lay in bed at any time, not just at night

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 06:00 AM PDT

This could solve the issue players have of spamming their beds to skip the night when they can't sleep in it yet. With this feature they could lay in bed early and wait until night for the night to be skipped. The message "You can only sleep at night and during thunderstorms" would still display, of course.

Another new feature beds should have is that, when it becomes morning, you will continue to lay in bed until you manually get out. This may be annoying to some at first but this transitions to my other suggestion.

Staying in bed in the morning can be useful to people who use AFK farms and the like. If the player isn't doing anything in the farm and just standing there, but they don't want it to be night time so other mobs don't spawn outside, they can just stay laying in the bed and the nights will be skipped over and over until they return.

Villagers should alert the iron golem when the player is killing it stealing

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 08:51 AM PDT

It has always bothered me that the villagers will watch you tear up their crops and steal from their chests without doing anything about it

They will even watch as you kill their own! I think villagers should run to the iron golem an tell them what the player is doing, this would cause the iron golem to become hostile to the player until the player dies or leaves the village

Enderwater Rain - The End for Newbies

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 01:41 AM PDT

Abstract\ A rare weather phenomenon that aids earlygame stronghold finding and hints new players towards the End.

When does it occur?\ Enderwater Rain (name pending) is a strange, rare weather phenomenon that can only occur in New Moon nights. I'd say about 1 in 5 New Moon nights should have this rain.

Appearance\ It would look like normal rain, but with a purple tint. I would also move slightly sideways as if the wind was moving it, more on that later.

Effects\ During Enderwater Rain, Endermen would have greatly increased spawn rate, hinting players at the connection between the End and the color purple. It would also help getting a bunch of ender pearls without having to trade with a cleric.

But the real important thing is not the Enderman spawn rate, it is the "wind". The Enderwater Rain would always be blown in the direction of the nearest stronghold. To make it less overpowered, within a distance of about 50-100 blocks from the stronghold, the rain would either:

    • stop entirely,
    • move straight downwards or
    • change direction frequently so as to confuse the stronghold hunting player.

Please tell me which option you would prefer.

Credits for the name go to u/CivetKitty from r/shittymcsuggestions for replacing the "u"s in "underwater ruins". When I saw the post, I was instantly inspired to write up this suggestion, and it turned out to be a whole less shitty than expected, so I am posting it here.

Night Vision II lets you see entities that are invisible.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 03:32 PM PDT

Currently Night Vision II isn't a status effect. I think it would be cool if it was, and it could let you see things with the Invisibility effect.

    Being able to hug pets?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 09:09 AM PDT

This may be a little silly, but shouldn't pets that are tamed could be hugged? In real life, pet cats and dogs can be hugged, why not in Minecraft?

    Squirrels

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 09:04 AM PDT

A passive mob which eats apples, carrots, and also seeds. It can be kept as a pet, and a pet squirrel may bring you back some random items from somewhere. Squirrels also sit on the players shoulder, and live in oak, birch, dark oaks, and occasionally spruce trees. Breed them with apples or carrots. They come in sizes ranging from tiny to large sizes, this is totally random, and squirrels can also be picked up and carried when tamed. If acorns and other nuts get added to Minecraft, squirrels can be fed acorns to breed them. Squirrels also will sit on beds due to softness. Squirrels can walk with the player like cats and dogs do.

    Better Clouds

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 01:25 PM PDT

Clouds bug me, but not having clouds bugs me too. I tried to think of possible solutions.

Several options here, all in the interest of not having cloudy interiors to tall buildings...

    1. Clouds disappear when they hit something.

Advantage- Simple, creates cloudless zones on far side of mountains. Disadvantage- Possible issues with generation/chunks, no mist filled valleys.

    1. Clouds break up and go around things

Advantage- Fairly realistic Disadvantage- Again, not much in the way of misty mountain valleys.

    1. Clouds stop at placed blocks or somehow detect enclosed spaces. Generate over moist biomes? Dissipate over dry ones? Larger weather pattern... I don't think it would be hard to save a tiny bit of general wetness of chunks from chunks when they first load but not sure if the seed values could be extrapolated in a useful way to deal with unexplored chunks... obviously you'd want to set limits but it could create weird cloudless spots depending on the implementation. Have clouds stop/move around barriers and systems could even flow around areas and maybe some logic could be used for dry/wet zones. (Years ago Fraxis's Alpha Centauri had this, but that was a much smaller map.)

Advantages- If done right it could make clouds really look nice, and make them 'behave' Disadvantages- Probably processor heavy

    1. Just put them much higher, or, on world generation allow an option to set their altitude. Advantages- Simple Disadvantage- Might look ugly.

    2. Make 'Real' clouds... use real blocks. Advantages- Would look nice and open some RP possibilities. Disadvantages- Wouldn't move or, if it did, would be insanely laggy.

Any other ideas? Any ideas of what would work best?

When not in your offhand or main hand, but in your inventory/hopbar, the Shield is displayed on the player's back

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 09:35 AM PDT

This would be a really pleasant visual upgrade for the shield, and a way to display it when not in use

    New Nether Mob---Magma glider

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 11:15 PM PDT

Magma gliders are hostile arthropods that belong in the Nether, they roam around the surface of lava oceans, occasionally coming to dry land for laying eggs.

    AI (idle)

When idle, magma gliders stride around the (lava) oceans, they would have two states of idleness: laying eggs and wandering.

In wandering mode, they would act like any other mob that has nothing to do, they would wander aimlessly

Laying eggs mode only applies to some of the magma gliders. When a magma glider spawns, there would be a 30% chance of them containing eggs. Only the ones that have eggs can go into laying eggs mode. When in this mode, they would find dry land to lay 1-4 eggs. Just like turtle eggs, 4 eggs can fit into one block of space.

    AI (Detected enemy)

If in wandering mode a magma glider detects a player or villager. They would swim towards the prey and pounce on them. The pounce itself would not deal much knockback but would set the target on fire. After an attack, they would retreat for a few seconds before launching another attack.

In laying eggs mode, the magma glider would simply try and escape and would finish laying the egg before attacking the target.

    Drops and its uses

The magma gliders drop 4 EXP, 0-1 magma orb.

The magma orb is used to create a potion of fire affinity and can be thrown like a snowball

A thrown magma orb sets whoever it hits on fire and deals 2 hearts of impact damage. However, it deals 1 heart of damage to yourself too!

Drinking a potion of fire affinity would grant you the ability to See through lava. If Mojang later adds under-lava structures you would be able to see them.

    Magma Eggs and their uses

Magma eggs are the eggs that the magma glider lays. They look like turtle eggs but are red in color with orange spots.

Just like normal eggs you can throw them, by throwing them, you would have a 10% chance of hatching a baby magma glider. Magma gliders hatched by you could see you as their owner.

Tamed adult magma gliders could be ridden using a saddle, a saddled magma glider would be slower than the average horse, but can climb walls

    Slime Piston

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 12:40 PM PDT

    • Got to thinking what block avoids block piston push limit and I though wait a minute, slime blocks do. But what if a piston was made entirely out of the slime block itself, than it could push and pull slimes endlessly. Probably not what I think, but it would still be cool to see and kind of fit in minecraft.
    • Crafting
    • A slime piston would be have just like a sticky piston and push and pull blocks and pistons, but it would also stick to blocks it touches.
    • A slime piston would be able to push and pull slimes unlimited amount to for by passing piston push block limit
    • A reason for this piston would be able to push more blocks than 12 but also has a drawback as it would stick to any block it touches and thus giving it an advantage and disadvantage.
    • A player who uses a slime piston would bounce up in the air twice as high than regular piston + slime for a second reason to use it.
    • Yes this sounds very illogical and very silly but I find just because of that it would be very fitting to have in minecraft.

Accessibility Feature Request: Double-Tap to hurt friendly mobs

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 08:32 AM PDT

In the Accessibilty or Controls Category of the Game Settings on the mobile & tablet versions of Minecraft should be 2 new options: - Double-Tap to hurt friendly Mobs <on-&-off switch> - Double-Tap to hurt other players <on-&-off switch>

If the Option ,,Double-Tap to hurt friendly mobs" is on, you need to tap a friendly mob twice instead of once to hurt it.

Let me explain why I need this: Sometimes, I want to place something behind a friendly mob, or open a chest behind my pet.

But because I accidentally hurted my pet parrot instead of opening the chest behind it, it died. This already happened twice to me. But it didn't stopped there. One time, I accidentally hurted a villager because I accidentally tapped on it instead of the Trade Button below him.

I don't play multiplayer, but if I did, and I accidentally hurted a player like this, the other player would probably punish me for something, which he'd never find out was an accident. To prevent these kinds of cases aswell, I also proposed the 2nd option, called ,,Double-Tap to hurt other players".

If somebody from Mojang sees this, please add everything I described to the mobile and tablet versions of Minecraft.

Hard mode after you have a dragon egg

    Posted: 15 Apr 2019 01:54 PM PDT

Once you kill an ender dragon it should make the game harder mobs will spawn more. Raids can target you. And will just make it harder to survive.
