A solution to the problematic health regen with the combat update in mind.

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 06:38 AM PST

With the latest change to the upcoming combat update comes a new experiment by the developers: Health regen is nerfed.
Now, health regen in pvp has been OP for the longest of times. The problem with simply decreasing it however is that minecraft is not a combat game. It is a sandbox, exploration, pve, puzzle, whatever you make of it game, and for many of those things, health regen should be fast. It shouldn't take a long time to regenerate from jumping down a ledge or walking into a cactus, because that would make players risk averse, which results in decentivising exploration.

I suggest a distinction between environmental damage such as fall damage, drowning, fire and cacti, and combat damage such as monster or player attacks. Combat damage will reduce health regen while environmental damage does not. Health regen slowly turns back to the normal rate when the player doesn't take any new damage.

This way minecraft will be fun for all kinds of players, and not purely balanced around a very small aspect of the game. If you believe I am wrong, be sure to correct me in the comments.

Minecraft should add snails for another way to find slimeballs.

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 02:14 PM PST

You should be able to find them on beaches, in swamps, or hanging out on trees in forests/jungles. If you kill them they can drop slimeballs. Maybe you could add a way to tame and breed them by giving them seeds/seagrass but they'd be a pain to transport.

Petrified wood planks- new wood plank texture, new properties

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 11:21 AM PST

A few years ago, Mojang added a mysterious item to the Java creative menu- the Petrified Oak Slab. It could not burn, and the effective tool to break it was a pickaxe. It was essentially a stone slab that was textured to look like a wooden slab.

I think this would be a great block to add to the game in all 6 wood types. It would be configured through the stonecutter to make slabs, stairs, and walls. The crafting recipe would be 2 stone and 2 of the respective wood planks to craft 4 Petrified Wood blocks. Their textures would be similar to the texture of the top of beehives. This texture would fit the block well because it has a more polished "stone" look to it, but it still resembles the original wood plank.

Edit: Since petrified wood is essentially fossilized wood, I think it would be cool if you could find deposits of petrified wood underground in their respective biome.

And credit to ahjh16 for mentioning this, it would be cool if you could still make workbenches and sticks with petrified wood, so if you find a deposit underground, you can craft items with it if you need extra wood.

    Cave suggestions

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 10:08 AM PST

I know a lot of people have suggested cave update stuff so I'll try to focus on ones I haven't seen before (common ones I've seen which are great are: much deeper underground, new cave biomes including the biomes of the overworld, and overall updated generation)

A cave biome I'd like to see is deep caves. I remember when Minecraft was new and cave exploring was honestly scary, but it's kind of lost that for a lot of people when you see the same mobs and cave structure, I think this could help that. -when you go very far down and make it to the deep caves it should get pitch black dark, and torches/other light sources are less illuminating. They'd have unique generations (an idea are some areas between openings can be tight and claustrophobic. But overall it should be different and unpredictable than higher up.)

I also think the deep caves should have a specific mob to it. -Stalkers are attracted to noise you make: mining, running, etc. They'll get closer if nearby and you keep making sound, when they get close enough they'll quickly charge to attack. You have to watch your back and be aware of your actions or they'll sneak up on you. -in terms of looks, they should be a dark color like endermen. I don't know what exact the model should be. Maybe a humanoid thing on all fours, with faint red eyes?

And 2 other smaller ideas I had: -cave lakes -rope: used to climb down and up vertical cave structures (instead of just using a bucket of water lol) -you would put a fence post on top and tie It to it, and you drop it down and it's there to use. This could make it more of a spelunking experience

Anyways let me know what ya guys think, they're kind of rough ideas I've had

    Candles

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 01:20 PM PST

Candles can be crafted with two honeycombs vertically, with a dye in between to decide the color. When placed, they can be lit by a flint and steel.

Slight tweak to the magma block

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 12:49 PM PST

currently to my knowledge when a player's head touches a magma block no damage is dealt so for example if the celling of a building was made of magma and a player jumped and touched it no damage would be dealt changing this would provide new tools for map and parkour course makers to use in there builds .

the amount of damage dealt for each secound should be the same

    Possessed Armor

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 02:12 PM PST

This'll make you think twice about having strong armor.

The Possessed Armor will appear in your place when you have Insomnia in the end, replacing Phantoms.

(30 hearts, damage dictated by sword, does not walk. Only teleports.)

Possessed Armor will clone your armor with all enchantments on it upgraded to the next possible stage.

They attack by vanishing like an enderman to go closer to you. They attack with a spectral purple sword called the Wanderer's Sword.

They only vanish when you don't look at them, to contrast endermen. Think Weeping Angel.

When killed, they only drop a Wanderers Sword (20%) and sometimes endstone.

The Wanderers Sword deals 3 damage. It gets bonus damage depending on your grade of armor.

    1 Enchant = +.5 Damage

Can be enchanted as a sword, but not with Sharpness above 2.

Above 4 damage = Possessed Armor spawns alongside Phantoms In The overworld.

Above 3 enchants = Insomnia starts faster in the overworld, with only 1 night.

    Diamond tipped arrows

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 10:11 AM PST

Diamond tipped arrows should deal double or triple damage and would be crafted with 8 arrows surrounding a diamond. They would be similar to a normal arrows shot with piercing and power and would have a 0.1% chance of being shot or dropped by a skeleton.

New item for brewing called "Sacred Plant"

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 08:22 AM PST

Not sure what this would look like (Maybe some glowing dandelion-like plant) that could be rarely found in certain biomes. If used in brewing, it can 'resurrect' items (turn Rotten Flesh into Cured Flesh, Poisonous Potatoes into Potatoes, turn a Zombie Head into a Player Head, turn Negative Potions [Poison] into Positive Potions [Regeneration]).

I also had some idea that could link with an old idea I had with fossils but thats in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/comments/emdmrv/fossil_revamp/

    Catfish and other aquatic animals

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 11:03 AM PST

Catfish are one of the most diverse animals to ever exist, and I think large catfish would be quite the addition to the rivers of Minecraft. In the Jungle you could have Redtail Catfish and Shovelnose Catfish that hunt smaller fish in the water ways. In regular rivers you could have Channel Catfish and Wels Catfish. In the Mountain waterways you could have the mighty Goonch. All the catfish occur at different sizes, with the largest sizes of the Goonch and the Wels actually being aggressive to the player, being able to kill them in two or so hits. Goonch and Wels should also hunt smaller fish and Chickens, with the largest sizes attacking sheep, pigs, and cows. The Goonch and the Wels should be extremely rare. There should also be smaller schooling fish that occupy the waterways. In the Jungle these fish take the shape of Neon Tetras and other Characins. In the regular rivers the fish should take the form of Sunfish and Minnows. In the Mountains they should take the form of small snakeheads and carp-like fish. In the Desert you should be able to find Killifish. These fish all should be prey to bigger fish such as Salmon or Catfish. In the Desert you should also be able to find Triops. They can be found in little oasis and also in small, isolated pools of water in the nether (these pools exist naturally somehow and if you scoop up the water from them and try to put it back, they'll react like normal water). The Desert should also get a boss known as "Old one" who is a giant Triops that lives in a particular big oasis and is surrounded by normal size Triops in the water. The ocean should also get many things. Baitfish in the form of Herring and Anchovies should swim the open sea, being consumed by Cod and Salmon. They also should be hunted by Swordfish and Tuna, with the Swordfish being neutral and the Tuna being peaceful. The Tuna and the Swordfish should also consume the smallest sizes of Salmon and CoD. On the sea floor there should be Flounder and scallops which sit still until they decide to move or a creature like a player or dolphin gets close to them. There should also be crabs that come in the form of Spider Crabs, Stone Crabs, and King Crabs for the open sea. In the coral reef you should see more colorful crabs like Seven-Eleven Crabs or Swimming crabs. The Underwater Caves and the Underwater Ravines could be home to Giant Spider Crabs and King Crabs. There could also be Coelacanths and Ratfish inhabiting such places.

    Zombies drop beetroot seeds

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 12:37 PM PST

Zombies already have a chance to drop potatoes and carrots, why not beetroot seeds? So far, the only way to get beetroot is to find a village (or maybe a wandering trader, but I'm not sure about that one). Zombies having a chance of dropping beetroots would make just make sense.

1.16 Nether Update idea: Thermite mob ( Updated )

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 02:53 PM PST

Not too long ago I posted an idea for a thermite mob, after receiving some great suggestions and criticism I've changed some things and I'm happy to show you the updated version of this idea.

The insect-like thermite mob has some interesting behavior. It looks similar to silverfish with three eyes and with fangs that are similar to those of spiders. It also has three spikes on its back. ( Alternative look could be that of a soldier termite, it would still have three eyes though. )

    Thermite mob concept drawing: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Zxz_jOVCWz84Utx9xRlP_eInfb7vzzve/view?usp=drivesdk

They spawn near magma blocks and lava, and can most commonly be found near the edges of large lava lakes in the nether. They don't spawn that often.

The mob has an idle and 'activated' state. In it's idle state it'll wonder around and make faint chirping sounds, it will also produce smoke particles similar to those of torches and fires. Once it sees a player, it will become activated, in this state it will run towards the player at high speeds while screeching, spark-like particles will violently rush out from its back in this state. It can also be activated with a flint and steel, or by being set on flame by fire or lava, but it will 'explode' immediately if activated this way.

Its skin changes appearance between the two states, the idle state looking calm, dark and desaturated, the activated state looking like magma.

On impact with the player, it will 'explode'. The explosion will look similar to a firework in appearance, with sparks and smaller radius. This explosion won't destroy blocks, it will set mobs ( Including the player ) in close proximity on fire and will deal a great amount of damage ( I'd say about 1-3 firework charges worth )

They don't have a lot of health and can be killed easily, upon killing the mob the player will receive 1-3 thermite powder, this powder can be used to craft the thermite block ( 4 thermite powder required ) The block looks similar to concrete powder, but with a vibrant red-orange color.

Thermite can be lit with either by flint and steel or fire charges, it can also be lit on fire by nearby lava or fire. Upon activation the lit thermite and all other nearby thermites will start to burn and also change texture. Burning thermite will break through burnable blocks ( Like wool or planks) almost instantly, while inflammable harder blocks such as terracotta and concrete will be burnt slower. Thermite can not burn through certain blocks like: Obsidian, Bedrock, Command blocks and barrier blocks. The activated thermite block will disappear after destroying a few blocks or a set amount of time. All mobs that come in contact with this block will be set on fire and will be damaged the same way lava damages mobs.

A video link to a thermite reaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Trb3v-7ptjg&pbjreload=10

Why should this be added to the game?: I think a mob based on touch would a cool addition to the game, it also makes wondering near large lava lakes more dangerous. With this mob would also come the addition of the thermite block, that behaves in a very unique way unlike anything that we've seen in Minecraft before. This block could be used for making 1x1 tunnels quickly and easily.

Let me know what you think!

Redditors who have contributed to this idea: ( If you want to be removed from this list, I will do so on request. )

    5 person realms

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 02:52 PM PST

Title really explains it pretty well but i just don't want to waste money on a 10 player realm for 3 players and can't use a 2 player realm for 3 players. I feel like this feature couldn't really upset anyone or cause problems and if anything would cause more people to buy realms which I'm sure Microsoft and Mojang wouldn't really be against.

    Golems And Bees

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 08:10 PM PST

Simple idea I got after seeing a golem with a flower while I was setting up my Beehives, and that idea was to to simply have bees take or be offered flowers by golems. This action will help some baby bees grow up and maybe be another way for bees to collect pollen.

The latest combat snapshot should be reverted

    Posted: 18 Jan 2020 12:32 PM PST

As much as I hate the 1.9 combat update, I hate the new combat snapshot a lot more. If it is added, then there should be an easy way to disable it. I think that if this is the kind of changes that they are bringing us, then I do not want a combat update at all. I like to play both java and bedrock. On java, there is hypixel so I do not have much to worry about. however, I am afraid these changes may affect bedrock servers. If you do not agree, I respect that. I would like to see the other side of this so please post comments about it.

Metal blocks that are right next lava should work like magma blocks

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 07:48 PM PST

It includes iron blocks (obviously), gold blocks etc. But I'm not actually sure if diamond and emerald blocks counts but I guess they can conduct heat as well... Just to clarify, the block wouldn't create bubble columns and it'll damage you even if you sneak (good use for traps)

    Atlases

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 04:53 PM PST

Can be found in mansion chests or via trading with high level cartographers. starts blank, but you can slot in maps (empty or not) in a grid (3×3 to start, can be upgraded to max 7×7 with blank maps) which can effectively make a huge map in a single inventory space. when you walk off the edge of one map, it loads the next adjacent one.
