Can we please craft gunpowder? Posted: 14 Apr 2020 07:23 AM PDT So I get the idea that gunpowder is rare. Except it's not if you trick spawn mechanics. Which is a poor situation considering gunpowder is a resource that provides a lot of freedom and fun. Real gunpowder constis of: - a nitrate (typically potassium) - charcoal - sulfur My idea would be to use - flint - charcoal - redstone [or blaze powder] [[or nothing]] Finally an inimitable use for charcoal. Finally a use for flint besides F&S. Over the years, minecraft has made huge progress from "Hard work pays off" to "let creativity flow". This is the next step. If you want to support this idea, I guess the official minecraft feedback submission could use some attention: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360061446812-Gunpowder-crafting-here-is-why [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2020 08:48 AM PDT Title kinda says it all. There's currently no real sky features aside from clouds and the rain/snow. This idea would be more of a random occurrence, since rainbows don't always appear after rainstorms. Rainbows also fade out after a little bit, so this sky feature would only be present for maybe 30 seconds (600 ticks) or so, which would also play into the rarity of seeing them in Minecraft. Just an idea to help bring some reason to look into the sky in Minecraft during the day :) [link] [comments] |
Using a feather on a baby panda makes it sneeze. Posted: 14 Apr 2020 01:08 PM PDT It would have a 7 minute cooldown so you couldn't just spam a feather on a single baby panda and get infinite easy slimeballs. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 14 Apr 2020 04:56 AM PDT Currently, the different stone types (andesite, diorite, granite, endstone, sandstone, red sandstone) absolutely pale in comparison to stone and the new blackstone, at least when it comes to building variety. So I suggest all stone types should be made equal: When mined, stone will drop its respective cobble block. This can be crafted with vines to make mossy cobble, or smelted into the regular version of the stone. If placed into the stonecutter, the stone can be polished or made into [stone name] bricks. Bricks can be put into the stonecutter again to get the following variants: Chieseled - Has a unique pattern on all sides Pillar - Like quartz or purpur pillars, albeit a little different for each stone type Pavement - Has a dark prismarine texture You can also smelt the bricks to make them cracked and craft them with vines to make them mossy. You can drop an anvil on any of the blocks I just mentioned to turn them back into cobble, which wouldn't break the game since all the variants are made in a 1:1 ratio! Cobble could be crafted into 4 rocks (and vice versa of course). Rocks are like clay balls but for stone blocks. These can be placed individually in the world for decoration and generate naturally on the floor and in caves. Rocks are used in the following recipes: stone tools, levers (rock+stick), buttons (rock+redstone dust), rubble (5 dirt 4 rocks in a tnt pattern, looks like dirt with some stone mixed in), [stone name] path (3 rocks in a slab pattern, yields 3, looks like pebbles on the floor). I think this addition would be very welcomed amongst builders since it would allow for much more variety and detail in stone-heavy builds. It would also add some much needed use to the stonecutter as nearly all these recipes would be stonecutter exclusive. Thank you for reading through that, if you like it and think it should be added to the game make sure to leave a vote on the official minecraft feedback site using this link! It's still pending approval so you might not be able to acces it yet. [link] [comments] |
Give nausea noticeable effects on mobs Posted: 14 Apr 2020 03:35 PM PDT Currently, two mobs other than players can get nausea in survival mode: villagers after curing zombie villagers, and zombified piglins after transforming from piglins. Other mobs can also be applied the status, but they're all functionally unaffected by it, acting completely normal. I think nausea should make mobs slow down and move side to side while walking around/chasing you, or otherwise have some negative effects on their movement and behavior. The effect gets worse as the potency level goes up until they're only able to move very slowly randomly. EDIT: La_Paperbag's suggestion: melee attacks should have a chance to miss, and the accuracy of ranged mobs' attacks, in general, should also drop. [link] [comments] |
Furnaces on top of Soul Soil or Soul Sand should burn with blue fire. Posted: 14 Apr 2020 11:29 AM PDT Furnaces, Blast Furnaces, and Smokers, when placed on top of Soul Soil and Soul Sand, should burn Blue instead of Orange. [link] [comments] |
Reduce the chances of lakes generating in plains biomes Posted: 14 Apr 2020 04:02 PM PDT They are nice, but the rates they currently generate at are too much, it makes plains look like Swiss cheese, i think maybe 1/10 of what it is now, or even less [link] [comments] |
1.17 should include mountain villages modelled after the Inca civilization. Posted: 14 Apr 2020 02:34 PM PDT Given that 1.17 is the mountain update, it seems fitting that mountains are have villages like real mountain ranges in the world. This could include the addition of tomatoes and corn seeing as their origins are from the Inca's villages. The Incas were also known for rope bridges, and alpaca and turkey farming which all could be new additions to the game (alpacas being replaced by the in game llamas). Edit: the Incas were known for terrace farming which could be included in the villages [link] [comments] |
A special Treasure Chest for most generated structures Posted: 14 Apr 2020 04:34 PM PDT This suggestion is to replace the regular wooden chests in most structures with a new "Treasure Chest". This Treasure Chest would function identical to a regular wooden chest, but it would have a unique and more exciting texture making it more of an occasion to stumble upon. The chests would not be craftable in order to encourage exploration and to make the chest block itself a treasure item that players could collect only by exploring in-game structures. Here is an image of my texture mock-up and the chest in various locations it could be found I would recommend the Treasure Chest to replace the wooden chest in all structures where it makes sense to do so:
I would exclude these structures as it would make more sense to find regular chests there:
I believe that this chest type would increase the reward for exploration of the game's structures and add a good looking decorative block to the collection of storage blocks in the game. I see no negatives to adding this block. Here is the link to the Feedback site, if you support this idea then please upvote it. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2020 09:13 AM PDT Item frame + slime ball stops you accidentally rotating the contents when opening chests in your store room. I've so many on chests at a slight angle. [link] [comments] |
I know this is a super small nitpick, but the quartz brick texture needs to be fixed. Posted: 14 Apr 2020 03:40 PM PDT Not sure if this is the right subreddit for this lol The "outline" on the edge of the texture breaks the brick pattern by putting a line straight through what would normally look like a solid brick in stone bricks or blackstone bricks. The texture itself is super well done but this tiny detail (which I think is left over from the quartz block) makes the block not look like actual bricks when placed side by side. All I'm asking for is to remove the dark outline! [link] [comments] |
New Structure: Abandoned Nether explorer camps. Posted: 14 Apr 2020 08:19 AM PDT With all the new snapshots coming out, the Nether is becoming more and more habitable. You can farm food, travel across Lava lakes with striders and even travel to the Overworld using obsidian from piglin bartering. But one of the key components is obtaining ores like iron and diamonds. Those can only be found rarely in Nether Fortresses. I think this can be solved in a creative way. Introducing the new structure: The Nether Explorer camps. These abandonded outposts will be buildings made from stone, with a bunker-like interior with the very basics. A small amount of food, tools and rarely ores like iron or diamonds. If they are by a lava lake, they can have strider docks. What happened to these travellers? Did they return to the overworld? or did they perish in the firey hell that is the Nether? Some of them can even have remnants of portals, with a destroyed obsidian frame. I think this is gonna make the nether more interesting and show that you're not the first who ventured into this hellish wasteland. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2020 10:42 AM PDT Detector Ladders are normal ladders except they have a white square with a red outline in the middle of the ladder identical to detector rails. They act similar to a detector rail as well, whenever an mob that can climb ladders or a player is climbing that particular ladder, it will send off a redstone signal. This is useful for automatic trapdoors, and ones that close behind the player automatically. [link] [comments] |

I have a new plank type idea: Purpleheart Planks Posted: 14 Apr 2020 05:46 PM PDT Since Minecraft is adding new plank types, especially some coming in different colors, I'd like to propose my own plank type. Purpleheart planks would come from Purpleheart trees, which would naturally grow in Jungles and Jungle edges. The exterior "bark" of the log block would be dark brown, with the interior or "heart" of the tree being violet in color. The planks themselves would be violet as well, and it could also be crafted into the corresponding doors, stairs, slabs, etc. This addition to the game would give players in Survival a new sense of reward for finding a jungle, and would also create new build opportunities for Creative players. This type of tree will also add a form or education, as these trees do exist in real life, generally found in the Amazon Rainforest. I personally believe this will be a great addition to Minecraft. Edit: Added last paragraph. [link] [comments] |
Dying with an empty bottle will drop a bottle with your XP where you died Posted: 14 Apr 2020 05:24 PM PDT It could have some interesting uses, as well as make it easier for friends to pick up your items and bring them to you. This doesn't change the fact that your XP drops when you die, it just changes how it is collected. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2020 12:00 PM PDT Crows would be much like parrots in size and health. With longer sharper beaks, and dark mostly black feathers. They could be passive and scared of the player as well as Villagers. And can be tamed with any kind of seeds, berries, or meat (maybe even rotten flesh because they are scavengers) along with apples, carrots, and melon slices. Once tamed they could ride the player's shoulder. Unlike parrots they would actually be able to fly instead of falling with style. They would spawn in dark forests and perhaps other forest biomes too but not jungles. With a rare chance to spawn holding a Gold Nugget, Iron Nugget, Stick, Arrow, Flint, or Name Tag in its beak. Crows are attracted to shiny things and will fly down to pick things up off the ground. However, things like armor, tools, and blocks are too heavy. So are Buckets, Filled Wooden Bowls, Filled Glass Bottles, Leather, and Books. It will only ever drop the object it's holding if it picks up something it deems to be better, or if the item its holding is consumed. Just like foxes. Crows are not stupid and will only trade what they have for something that they think is better. Just like foxes, but with a different scale for what is better or worse. The list below is built from worst to best. Stuff- Stick, Arrow, Flint, Paper, Empty Wooden Bowl, Gunpowder, Firework Star, Name Tag, Feather, String, Dead Coral, Honeycomb, Bone, Bone Meal, Phantom Membrane Colorful Stuff- Dye, Flowers, Quartz Crystal, Fire works, Fire Charge, Scute, Shulker Shell, Coral, Rabbit's Foot Food- Mushrooms, Netherwart, Sugar, Rotten Flesh, Egg Twinkly Stuff- Redstone Dust, Glowstone Dust, Torch, Redstone Torch, Tripwire Hook Good Food- Seeds, Potato, cocoa beans, Cookie Shiny Stuff- Flint and Steel, Gold Nugget, Iron Nugget, Empty Glass Bottle Better Food- Apple, Carrot, Berries, Melon Slice, Spider Eye Big and Shiny Stuff- Gold Ingot, Iron Ingot, Nautilus Shell, Music Disc Shiny Food- Golden Apple, Golden Carrot, Glistering Melon, Fermented Spider Eye Super Shiny Stuff- Diamond, Emerald, Ender Pearl, Totem of Undying, Great Food- Uncooked Meat, Wheat Magically Shiny- Enchanted Golden Apple, Eye of Ender, Nether Star Best Food- Cooked Meat, Bread Things not on this list just won't be picked up by the crow for various reasons. Grass, Saplings, Seaweed and Sugarcane isn't rare enough nor food and liquids like slime and Ghast Tears can't logically be picked up. Everything else is a building block, tool, or armor, and in my opinion too heavy. The Crow's logic behind each item's value is explained in the list. The idea here is that if you see a crow pick up something you want, you will need to negotiate it back from them. By throwing something they like better on the ground and letting them pick it up. Which is why almost every other tier is a list of food. The crow doesn't actually need what it has. It needs food. It also knows that you want what it has, and that you have lots of food. Like I said these birds are smart and they've almost got a bartering system going. They are also smart enough to know when to run. They will flee if you are not crouching. Even if you are crouching they will take it as a threat if you brandish a tool or weapon in either hand including a bow. They will flee if you attack them or another crow nearby. They will only approach if you are holding food while crouching. Wild Crows could be pests that eat Planted Wheat and other crops when Players and villagers are not around. But they would also stay away from Armor Stands if they have every armor slot covered. (scarecrow) If you have a tamed crow they can almost act as an extra item slot for important items, they can teleport back to you after you die with the "Best" item you dropped. Their squawk is not the prettiest, and Instead of dancing to music they might have a habit of pressing buttons, switches, pressure plates, or note blocks to showcase their intelligence. I'm really hoping their many quirks endear them to the players as pets. I want to know what you guys think of my my list, and of the behaviors I had in mind? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2020 09:16 AM PDT •Sulphur ore would generate rarely in the Nether Wastes, usually in groups of two blocks. • If broken with an iron/golden/any better pickaxe, it would drop 2-3 sulphur. Fortune enchantment will work, and to get the ore block the Silk Touch enchantment is needed. • With 9 sulphur you can create a sulphur block. This block is quite dangerous, don't touch with bare hands it or walk on it or else you will be poisoned. This block will emit light at level 2. Imagine building an abandoned laboratory with it, it would look fantastic. • Suplhur (and sulphur blocks) can be used as a fuel in furnaces. Although they would burn less items than coal (1 sulphur will burn 5 items), there is 10% chance to double the item. • Do you play on peaceful difficulty and you can't get gunpowder? Now you can craft it! Combine two sulphur and two charcoal to get 3 gunpowder. • Do you like to destroy everything with a TNT? Now you can upgrade it! Surround the basic TNT with 8 sulphur to make the explosion even bigger! • Sulphur is needed to brew two new potions:
• Have you found a useless potion? Or do you have too many of them? Now you can clarify the potions. Put the potions you want to clarify to the brewing stand and put the sulphur in it. The potions will be clarified and you will get awkward potions and a little bit of experience points. There would also be an advancement to clarify 3 potions. • Sulphur can be used in Firework Star crafting to get a new shape effect - Piglin's nose (the same shape as in the chiseled polished blackstone). • Combine sulphur, rotten flesh and any seeds/leaves to create compost. It can be used in composters. Maybe it can do something with growing plants in the Nether, for example use it on the soul soil to make it fertile. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2020 11:07 AM PDT My idea is for there to be a random chance for a group of guardians to spawn. This would consist of 5 guardians that appear randomly in the water near the player, around as often as pillager patrols occur. One of these guardians would be a new-ish mob called the Guardian Navigator, which would have the exact same stats as the guardian but with different coloring. It would have a chance of dropping an ocean explorer map upon death. I think that this would be useful for a couple of reasons. It would make creating a conduit a little easier for some players, and it would add a bit more danger to the oceans other than the drowned and... the drowned. Also, guardians are a bit underutilized for such a cool mob. You can only really find them in one place. EDIT: Ocean explorer maps aren't just in bedrock, which is what I originally thought. Extreme patience - New achievement/advancement Posted: 14 Apr 2020 11:31 AM PDT |
Posted: 14 Apr 2020 04:27 PM PDT Well, I recently watched a video after not playing for a while, and in said video, the user killed the enderdragon. Now I havent been the one to pay attention to achievements, but I noticed that when you kill the ender dragon, you get the achievement "Free The End", so what if there was another endgame boss, that tries to "Imprison The End" again? Instead of the usual farming enderdragons, what if there was another sequence of events that still have to happen... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2020 07:37 AM PDT If Bastions are gonna be added, might as well add these as an alternative. Depending on how Bastions look, I could see the Nether vines replacing Cobwebs in this case. Instead of Piglins, we'd have Zombified Piglins (obviously) [link] [comments] |
Console Minecraft needs dead zone settings. Please, Mojang. Posted: 14 Apr 2020 02:30 PM PDT I get it, the large deadlines make the game easier for new players and children to control. However, for an experienced player, when I am trying to reach a block from an odd angle, I always over adjust. I have to move my thumb half of the joysticks range. The current dead zones seem to be about 30% of the joysticks range, that's crazy. So much better control could be achieved. Some things need fine control. I can't tell you how many times I have missed a torch or red stone and broken the block beneath because of this. Iron fences are the worst. I also play shooter games, I know these dead zones are possible and can be utilized well. Please make this popular so Mojang sees it. There is going to be an update soon with the nether, maybe they can add it to that. [link] [comments] |
