Piglins should occasionally dance if the Pigstep music disc is playing near them

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:43 AM PDT

This would be sort of similar to parrots

Edit: smaller movements might be better, not necessarily dancing

Edit 2: It has come to my attention that SystemZee has suggested this idea as well. I wasn't aware of that when I wrote this post

    Slow-Falling Feathers

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:34 AM PDT

When you kill a chicken, or drop a feather in any other way, it will fall much slower than any other item, just like irl. A small detail, but cool nontheless. Plus, imagine how satisfying it would be to see all the feathers falling after you kill a bunch of chickens with looting on your sword!

Edit: The suggestion will be completely changed on the feedback page

    Villager Personalities

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 01:28 AM PDT

Isn't it strange that Pandas have more personality than Villagers? Let's fix that.

Note: Some are more common with different jobs.

Note: Depending on how they're raised, baby villagers can get different traits as they grow up.

    Note: Normal villagers still exist.

    Sneezy

They sneeze every so often, and look sick. They're sneezes give a short poison effect.

    Sleepy

These villagers sleep in, and tend to go to sleep earlier. They are late to their jobs, but they always eventually get up. Their eyes appear to be half closed, as if they're dosing off constantly. These villagers are slightly slower. During raids, they retain they're normal speed.

    Happy

Villagers that are happy tend to be farmers. They have a smile on their face and tend to attract baby villagers.

    Dopey

These are very common across nitwits. During raids, they walk to shelter. They have a confused look on their face at all times.

    Grumpy

Grumpy villagers have a frown across their face. They don't like being near other villagers and don't go to the meetings. Rarely, they'll raise their prices for no reason.

Yes, these are based on the 7 Dwarfs

Iron Golem cages in Illager outposts have a chance of containing villagers instead.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 04:23 AM PDT

When freed, the villager will gift you (a low number of emeralds or various trading-related items) and proceed to travel back to the nearest village. Once they arrive, they will spread minor positive gossip and will receive major positive gossip. (Basically what happens when you cure a zombie villager)

(Idk what to flair this so here you go)

Bastions should have a small chance of including a Wither Skull as loot.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:37 AM PDT

I'm not saying it should be common, as it should still have it's purpose of being a rare item. But it should still have a possibility of appearing in Bastions. Here's some reasons why I think this.

    1) It still fits within the brutal theme for Piglins. As we know, Piglins hate and will attack Withered Skeletons, so it would make sense for them to collect the skulls of the Withered Skeletons as trophies. They could either spawn rarely in chests, or in the Bastion's treasure room.

    2) It would help players be more aware of the Wither. Right now, Mojang have stated that the boss of the Nether is the Wither. However, obtaining the skulls from withered skeletons are just too rare (a 5% chance with Looting 3, 2.5% chance at base), and so, many players actually don't bother fighting the Wither Boss. It always seems like players are more likely to have defeated an Ender Dragon than the Wither, which does make sense, but it also makes sense to make the Wither slightly more obtainable in a world. This would also help have a chain effect where more players can fight / defeat the wither and obtain the Nether Star to create a Beacon, which personally, I found to help with the longevity of a world to help speed things up.

Mojang does want to treat the Wither as the boss of the Nether, so it should be more accessible via more ways of obtaining Wither Skulls, and I think this could be an optional approach.

Make the chain recipe produce more than just one chain.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:37 PM PDT

I like the new chain block, but the fact where its crafting recipe only produces 1 chain, just doesn't sit well with me. change it to like 2-4. nothing ridiculous but still feels like the spending of iron was worth it.

A New Villager Profession - The Baker

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 08:02 AM PDT

The Baker is a new villager profession that came to my mind,

Let's talk more about the baker

Appearance: Bakers will look like normal villagers with a white chef like hat and an apron that hangs almost till their knees, they will have sounds in a higher pitch than usual, (optional)

Behavior: Baby villagers will often come to the bakers and bakers will offer bread to the baby villagers, and they will take it (they think they're cute) , Also the farmers will give wheat to Bakers , which bakers will convert to bread and will offer to their friends and baby villagers, (interesting concept for farms)

Job Site : I'm thinking a furnace, but you could probably tell me one better!, they will live in small bakery like buildings

Trades: They will trade sugar, cookies, cake, bread, pumpkin pie, eggs and milk too. could trade more special items , that are not yet in the game

Special: If the player has a hero of the village effect, the baker will give him pumpkin pies or maybe some other food while nodding and making happy noises and particles

Bastions and ruined portals should be less common

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:30 AM PDT

The portals are more common than villages, and the bastions have that cool and valuable loot that I think both should be less common.

I suggest making broken portals a little bit rarer than villages. They shouldnt be too rare because they also generate underground where they remain unnoticed.

Bastions have netherite gear in them and are huge. Nothing more to say. I think they should be about 2 or 3 times rarer than nether fortresses.

Items with cursed enchants should be tinted red, normal enchants should be tinted blue, and combined cursed + normal enchants should be tinted purple.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 08:45 AM PDT

I think that items with cursed enchants (curse of binding, curse of vanishing) should make the item tinted red. Good item enchants should make it blue. When a curse is combined with a normal enchantment, it makes it purple.

This is just a simple quality of life change that I think will benefit things like End Cities and the new Piglin Bastions. If you look in a chest, there is usually enchanted loot but some of it is cursed. This would help because people would just shrug it off if they see that it only has a curse while they might think harder if it's a combined curse and good effect.

    Chain Lead

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:27 AM PDT

A lead that can not be broken. If there is something blocking the path of the entity that is attached to the lead, it won't let you move any farther away instead of the lead snapping off. This could be really handy for transporting mobs with elytra's. The crafting recipe is the same as a regular lead but instead of string, it's crafted with chains. :)

Piglins and Pigstep by Lena Raine (New Music Disc)

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 09:05 AM PDT

Piglins should nod their head to the rhythm of the new music disc "Pigstep" introduced in 20w16a in a similar fashion to parrots dancing to music discs. It should also pacify them when listening (as if you were wearing gold armor) as they are too distracted by the music.

Rabbits shouldn't take so long to breed again.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:36 AM PDT

If you've ever bred rabbits, you know that their "refractory period" or breeding cooldown is as long as it is for other passive mobs, if not longer.

IRL rabbits are known to produce multiple litters a year and far more young than cows, sheep, etc.

The typical love mode cooldown for passive mobs is about five minutes; I think for rabbits it should be 2.5 minutes.

The ruined portals are a good idea, but their execution is a bit of a misstep. I have the solution.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 02:27 PM PDT

So, the nether is livable now. Great! Now you can head into the nether and survive there without leaving. It won't be easy to get, but there's food, wood, and stone there now. In addition, a spooky new generated structure has appeared around the world, showcasing others' failed and/or long since dilapidated attempts at doing the same. But unfortunately, it's not perfect.

Recently, on YouTube, a contingent of "Minecraft but you spawn in the nether" let's players have taken full advantage of this, creating data packs or command block contraptions that spawn you in the nether. The goal: get back into the overworld. It's a much more challenging version of a normal Minecraft survival world, and it's very fun to watch.

The new ruined portals are a nice guiding hand for new players to learn about the nether. The modern day equivalent of the Wither painting, they showcase how to build a new portal if you can figure out the puzzle that past generations have left for you. But Mojang was smart, and made them serve double time. These ruined portals will now often spawn with chests that contain obsidian, flint and steel, and enchanted gold tools. In addition, they spawn everywhere. All you need to do is start a new world, look around a bit, complete the portal, and you've started a new nether survival challenge. Perfect!

The problem with this is that it ruins progression for anyone who doesn't want to do the nether survival challenge.

The nether was, up until today, a gated point in game progression. It's supposed to be difficult to get to, since that's where you get blaze rods to go to the end and kill the dragon. The nether was toxic and unforgiving. The fact that it wasn't livable was probably even better for this progression, as making it through the Nether required you to be even more prepared by the time you entered. However, I absolutely love the new Nether changes and the fact that it is livable is great, so I digress.

The original progression was from wood to stone to iron to diamond, and then into the Nether, since you needed diamond to get obsidian. While portal forging was a bit of a metagamey speedrunny tactic, it still existed and allowed you to skip progression, but at the very least it required you to get all the way to iron first. These new ruined portals render all progression obsolete. You can skip literally all of that progression before getting into the nether. Walk up to a ruined portal with nothing in your hands, a newborn baby in your newly made world, go complete the portal with the stuff you found in the chest, and you're in. As long as it doesn't have crying obsidian in it, you're good to go. In fact, there's literally no reason to ever build your own full portal at this point. You've got your nether survival challenge users satisfied - at the cost of what little progression Minecraft has. Yes, villages technically made this possible before, but it was difficult and uncommon enough that it never really bothered me. These feel like something from the old Xbox 360 tutorial world, not a common generated structure in the real game.

My solution to this is twofold, and will work even better to satisfy nether survival challenge users without impacting core gameplay at all.

Part 1 of my solution is to get rid of the chests that spawn with ruined portals.

Just straight-up remove them. No more chests. The ruined portals are still there, and serve as a guide to new players, a nether portal mystery for them to solve. But you have to get the rest of the portal frame yourself. Make your way to obsidian level on your own, or learn to forge, it doesn't really matter which, but no more starting out being able to make a portal into the Nether. I'm not sure if any ruined portals spawn fully made with only a flint and steel necessary (the snapshot did only come out today after all), but if so then remove those iterations of the structure.

/u/boollye suggested that perhaps the chests should stay, but only come with flint and steel, or perhaps just a flint and an iron ingot. (maybe it's random which of those three spawn in any given chest by the portal?) This would continue to provide hints to players how to activate the portals they've built, but still not break progression.

This will, of course, take away the nether survival challenge bit that comes with these new portals, but that leads me to part 2.

Part 2 of my solution is a new option in the world creation menu.

In advanced settings, in the same screen as "bonus chest" and "generate structures", add a new option that changes the world spawn point from the overworld to the nether.

There's already new functionality in the snapshots to set world spawn in other dimensions, now it's part of the game. Start the world, and you're in the nether. If you die you still respawn there.

One click and you have a nether survival challenge set up and ready to go, even easier than the new snapshot provided, at zero cost to the rest of the gameplay. It still technically allows you to skip progression, but then again, so does choosing creative mode instead of survival!

This is also a quality of life adjustment. Literally anyone who wants to do a nether survival challenge can do one without having to set up anything special beforehand. Imagine the potential. Imagine the Twitch streams. Imagine the hardcore mode nether survival challenges. Imagine the possibilities.

Banners can combine into a larger banner/curtain when you place them next to each other

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:56 PM PDT

To keep them separate, crouch while placing them. Each individual banner piece of the larger banner will have it's own design, the only difference will be that they're connected and move together, they'll still be individual blocks though, like chests.

Giant ambient mobs visible off in the distance

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:30 PM PDT

EDIT: These are NOT MOBS. They are just visual effects.

    Inspired by this post

These monsters do not interact with the player very much, and are more of a visual effect than a mob. They appear rarely, and there would be three kinds of them.

The first one is a wormlike or dragonlike monster that can be found in the nether. This one appears just on the edge of the fog, and looks like the monster in the post, or like a giant worm. They come into view for a short time, look around, and then turn and disappear, 20-30 seconds in total. Around 10% of the time, they look directly at the player before leaving, and on multiplayer, appear to look at each player. Their arrival is accompanied by a loud creaking noise, and Piglins go into a frenzy when one of these appears.

Secondly, an End Whale is a purple-black whale that undulates across the empty skies of the end, or below the islands. They make a mournful cry during their appearance.

Finally, a Giant Phantom would be just that: a huge phantom silhouette that, when the player hasn't slept in 6 days, go across the sky of the Overworld at night for around 10 seconds, and its path would always go over the moon. If they player didn't sleep for 12 days in a row, it could be seen during the day, cover the sun, and would darken the sky temporarily while it is visible.

    Chains should be placeable top-to-bottom

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:11 PM PDT

It would be interesting to be able to place chains lower and lower by just right-clicking anywhere along the chain, kinda how scaffolding can be placed on top of the stack by just right clicking on any other scaffolding block. Making them climbable would be the next step. A length limit might be required so it's not super overpowered, but still.

It'd be great for exploration, and it'd make the crafting price a bit more bearable earlier on in the game, when iron still isn't super-common. It'd also add more functions to the chains than just decorative, and it fits with how they are (or at least seem to be) mostly used to hang things (lanterns, spawners etc.).

    Here's a quick mockup I made on 1.14.

And yeah this is technically kinda like rope, which is in the FPS - but I didn't see the mechanic itself in the list - but this is the perfect occasion to add this kind of mechanic!

    Give Jukeboxes an interface.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:22 PM PDT

Firstly it will bring them more in line with how other blocks of this nature work.

Secondly and most importantly (to me) it will allow for them to be hooked up better to redstone so I can finally make a device where i can press a button to choose which song I want to play, instead of keeping the discs in a storage device and having to manually collect them, put them in and put away the old one.

Thirdly, it would allow you to add features to pause and play/ volume control and hell why not pitch, speed and whatnot as well.

Jukeboxes should have some way to loop (always play) a music disc.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 01:46 PM PDT

The jukebox should have some way to let it constantly play the music disc inside of it rather than having to eject the disc then put it in the jukebox once again simply to make the disc replay.

For example, if the jukebox is receiving a redstone signal, then once the current music disc inside of it stops playing, it will return to the beginning of the music disc and play the entire thing again. Alternatively, there could be a certain setting on the jukebox that the player may be able to change by using the jukebox while crouching.

(P.S. sorry if I used the wrong flair, not really sure if it would be a block/item or sound)
