Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #103: Windmill Posted: 02 Aug 2020 07:29 AM PDT LAST WEEK'S THEME: CABIN IN THE WOODS**Apologies for the possibly incomplete/weirdly formatted post. I'm away this weekend and my laptop is not cooperating with me, so this is all being written on mobile. When I get home (today or tomorrow) I'll fix everything, but wanted to post as much as I can to avoid any confusion.GoldSomething a lot of the best builds often leave out is presentation. When building, you need to remember how people will view the build, and work from there. This build keeps all of this in mind by being built in the new basalt delta biome in the nether. The custom landscaping helps focus everything onto the cabin itself, which is remarkably colourful (considering the mixture of dark greens and browns surrounding it). Great build! SilverThis build did a great job keeping colour in mind while building. The elegant house towers into the sky alongside the trees, creating an intimidating visual from the ground, sending a clear message to those approaching from the clearly established road. All while giving the inhabitant a lovely place to live, whether they're walking around their property or listening to music in their lounge. I can feel myself walking around this build, paying careful attention to the depth and colour. Nice job! BronzeI love custom terrain. And this build uses the terrain around it to focus onto the cabin itself, which is also wonderfully built. The hills make the build small, since it's only contained in a small area, however there is no need to build a ton of other stuff to fill it up since everything you need is in that tiny space. It's a perfect secluded spot, away from civilization. Good job! Honourable mentions IntroductionThere's something about Minecraft that always makes me want to build windmills. For whatever reason, it always seems like the perfect addition to pretty much any village, no matter what the era is. Whether we build old rustic ones or new fancy ones that can be used to generate electricity (aka wind turbines), there's something about building them that I love. So hopefully this week you guys can share in my love of them and build some awesome windmills! Inspiration I'll add this in later... suggestions are welcome in comments as you wait for me to post this.. ChallengeWindmill Construct a windmill. It can be whatever type you choose (I can't think of many off the top of my head, but I'm sure that there's different types) or even a wind turbine. Scenery isn't required, but it is recommended to complete the build. Rules
