    Weekly Update Day #6

    Posted: 11 Sep 2021 07:45 PM PDT

It's totally Saturday! Yeah, not like I forgot. I promise that it's not Sunday.

Every Saturday (usually), we give users access to the Update flair. This gives them the freedom to post suggestion lists, which are normally prohibited by Rule 5.

There are some important rules to be aware of:

    • Suggestion lists must have the Update flair. Those without this flair will be removed for breaking Rule 5.

    • Suggestion lists must maintain the same theme. An End update suggestion would be fine, but a post with someone's top 10 general additions would not.

    • All features mentioned in a suggestion list must be thoroughly detailed. If it's in the post, explain what it does, how it fits with the rest of the game, and why it should be in Minecraft. Don't just list the names of 5 mobs and leave it at that.

This flair has a higher quality standard than others, and it will be closely monitored by staff. Posts deemed too vague may be removed.

Also, having the Update flair doesn't make your post immune to the FPS list. If it has stuff on there, make sure your take on them is original and well detailed.

    Enjoy!

Being able to switch armor while having armor on

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 01:28 AM PDT

Theres a lot of people who lost their hardcore world because of falling into the void and having their chestplate instead of their elytra on

If we could right click an elytra it would unequip the chestplate and equp the elytra for a quick switch

It would also be helpful in minigames like skywars for switching to better armor without having to open our inventory and doing it manually which usually ends with being knocked into the void

    Cave Fish

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 03:59 AM PDT

    Why?

Having fish in caves would give a food source for people living in caves, besides glow berries and rotten flesh.

    What would it look like?

Cave fish would be a white, blind fish. (since real fish that live in caves don't have eyes)

    What would it do?

Axolotls would hunt cave fish. They would drop 1 raw cave fish after death that could be cooked. Raw cave fish fills 2 hunger points and cooked cave fish fills 4 hunger points.

    How would it breed?

They could be bred using glow lichen. (since glow lichen is the only plant-like thing that can be found in normal caves) After breeding, one of them would lay small eggs in the water. 2 in-game days later, the eggs would hatch into baby cave fish.

    Illusioners In Raids

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 11:51 AM PDT

Since Mojang has yet to include the illusioner in regular survival, yet they have moved forward with other illager variants in raids, what if there was a rare chance for an illusioner to spawn in a raid? This would severely amp up the difficulty for players who have diamond or even netherite armor.

    Jack o lantern idea

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 09:31 AM PDT

I feel like the jack o lantern recipe should change from torches to candles, and you could choose to light it or not.

    Paper as fuel

You should be able to use paper as fuel. Minor change but it will make your sugarcane farm more practical

Fletching table should allow us to fletch (more in post)

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 01:02 PM PDT

The definition of fletching is to put feathers on an arrow, so I think the fletching table should definitely have something to do with that.

How I imagine it: a fletching table would allow you to craft arrows with different arrangements of feathers to have them make different arcs in the air.

The UI would show a crafting grid that looks a bit like an upside down pickaxe, with a flint outline in the top and a stick outline in the middle, and three feather outlines along the bottom.

Adding more than one feather to the arrow recipe would make the arrow have a thicker bundle of feathers (or fletches) on the back, making it have air resistance.

Arrows crafted with 3 feathers would have the most air resistance, and, while not useful for long-distance combat, they would make it a lot easier to shoot arrows over walls as they will curve down faster.

Arrows crafted with one or two feathers would be more interesting, as their recipes can be unsymmetrical.

Unsemetrically crafted arrows would have more feathers on one side, and therefore slightly curve towards that direction. This would allow skilled players to basically shout around obstacles.

Also, if more bird mobs, or bird-like mobs are added in the future, maybe they could drop special feathers that can be used to make more types of arrows.

TL;DR: fletching table used to craft arrows that curve in certain directions.

Make doors connect to wall blocks

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 05:05 AM PDT

Exactly as I said, make doors connect to wall blocks, just make more blocks connect in general tbh.

    Using Enderpearl with horses

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 11:10 AM PDT

While mounted on a horse, using Enderpearl will teleport both the Player and the Horse.

This would be especially useful for crossing rivers with horses or going top of a steep mountain with the horse.

Since Mojang is trying to make other transport system more reliable, I thing this buff would make the horses more convincing to use.

Ability to place pointed dripstone sideways

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 11:00 AM PDT

They would never generate sideways, because they don't appear like that in real life.

But once you mine them, they're just building blocks, so I think you should be able to place them in whatever way you like.

This would not only be useful for decoration, but it would also give us horizontal spikes to play with.

Iron Golems should be friendly if you repair them.

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 05:52 AM PDT

An angry golem should stop trying to attack you if you repair it with iron ingots unless you killed a villager.

    Enough said

    The Tropical Slime

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 01:53 AM PDT

The tropical slime is a type of slime from minecraft earth(now minecraft dungeons aswell) which is blue and has tropical fish in it. Behaviour:

It spawns on beaches and warm and lukewarm oceans. The tropical slime has 1 size only. It has similar ai to the drowned, when underwater.(it follows the player through the water, but tends to stay on the ocean floor) When on land,it acts like a normal slime. The tropical slime will store up to 2 fish in it. It catches the fish by getting near them. When it dies,it leaves behind the fish it had stored in it. Axolotls will attack the tropical slimes. If it goes into a very cold biome or freezes in powder snow,it dies instantly together with the fish.

    Easter egg/fun feature:

Dolphins will sometimes play with other dolphins using the tropical slime as a ball. After a while, they will kill it. This won't happen often because it could create lag.

    Attacks:

Normally,it will attack you like a normal slime, doing the same amount of damage as the 2nd size of the normal slime. (It is a little bit bigger than it tho) If it has fish in it, the tropical slime will sometimes throw it at the player, doing 1 heart of damage. (imagine it throwing a pufferfish)

    Uses:

It can be picked up in a bucket and put in an aquarium or wherever you want to put it. You don't necesarily need water in the bucket to pick it up. You can use it to breed axolotls.

    Drops:

    1-4 hydro balls

    The hydro balls:

You can use them to craft a new type of block called the hydro block which sticks to other blocks. It won't stick to honey and slime blocks. You can walk through it and fish can also live in this block without escaping. You will however drown in it.(it is water) You can also use them to craft hydro leads. These will drag the animal you are leading to you even if you are underwater. Using a dye and 4 hydro balls, you can create a beach ball.(or it could be called just a ball) You can play with other playes, dogs, dolphins, axolotls and cats. You can also make a hydro piston. Instead of pushing the block in front of it,it will push itself backwards.

    Redstone wire

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 04:03 PM PDT

Combining copper ingot and redstone should creat redstone wire. It functions like a chainblock and can be placed vertically. It also can't be upset by water. An item must be placed at one of the ends to conduct a signal.

    Campfire quickening

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 03:11 PM PDT

My idea is that if you put coal/paper/coal block and other flammable items on a campfire, it will make the campfire cook food faster, however if you put too much "flammable materials" on it, the campfire will be smothered, just like in real life, so if you want to make your fire faster, it may come with an unpleasant surprise.

    Continents World Type

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 09:20 AM PDT

Having a map type where you spawn on continents would make the game more interesting. It would be like the beta 1.8 world generation when it comes to how it separated landmasses, but just make the distance not nearly as much as it originally was. I think it would make people have more interest to go out and explore. The downsides of it would be that most people in the early game wouldn't want to travel 1,000 blocks out on the water just for a new landmass.

Lemurs (Not Monkeys or Apes (Gorillas, ect)

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 10:31 AM PDT

I know that monkeys and apes have been suggested multiple times, and thus are no longer allowed to be submitted on this subreddit, but what about lemurs (which are neither monkeys or apes, but prosimian primates)? Lemurs, if they're added to Minecraft, should be able to spawn in rainforest/jungle biomes to, not only to give rainforests/jungles more life, but also to help players locate and collect fruits and cocoa beans in the dense biome. They could not be tameable, but rather be trusted like foxes and ocelots already do in the game. The lemurs should come in more than one variant, including ring-tailed lemur, black-and-white ruffed lemur, red ruffed lemur, mongoose lemur, sifaka, and more. I think that lemurs would fit perfectly in Minecraft and, like pandas, sea turtles, polar bears, and axolotls, would make more people aware of the endangered species and help protect the species.

Breaking sand can drop nautilus shells

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 05:11 AM PDT

Nautilus shells have a rare chance to drop after breaking a block of sand, its rarer than flint. About as rare as fishing a nametag. It also gives players more of an incentive to put fortune on their shovels.

    A New Setting

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 12:50 PM PDT

Add an Under-Void Building setting. This would allow players to build under the void. Sadly, I created a world a year ago (It was a flat world). I tried recreating the world, but then when I got to a place that needed a beach, the ocean could only be 3 blocks deep. If this setting got added, I would be so happy, and I bet a lot of other people would too.

    Dripstone caves' mini-boss: The Rockamite

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 04:07 PM PDT

    OVERVIEW

Rockamite is a mob exclusive to Dripstone caves. It is similar to Redstone Golem from Minecraft Dungeons, except Rockamite is covered by dripstone on his back, which also features dripstone spikes. They act as a sort of a mini-boss in Dripstone caves and spawn always inside them, but respawn rarely after first time killed in same dripstone cave.

    STATS

Rockamite has 70HP (35 hearts) and is notably slow, it is a cakewalk to outrun this dweller of Dripstone caves.

    BATTLING AGAINST ROCKAMITE

Rockamite does not have a direct (basic) attack, instead it utilizes its' surroundings for battle. Rockamite has 3 combat moves:

1-Screech Of Death: Rockamite screeches in high pitch, causing Dripstone near the player to fall, this can be very fatal if Dripstone is all on the ceiling

2-Spike Ball: Rockamite turns into a ball (or as ball-ish you can get in game full of blocks) with spikes, spinning and charging directly into player, this can and will 1 shot a player with up to Chainmail armor, in case of other armors, you will survive, but barely

3-Refragmentation: Rockamite consumes nearby dripstone to heal itself, each dripstone piece restoring 10HP (5 hearts), it is advised to focus on cutting down nearby dripstone on the floor so it doesn't regen as much as it could with, say example, 5 pieces of dripstone

Instead of using standard sword as a weapon for this beast, it can only be damaged by 2 things: Pickaxes and Explosives. Pickaxes will perform 2x damage on Rockamite than their usual damage, to ease off the fight a little, but TNT will probably the best item to use against Rockamite, with an added risk of blowing up dripstone around you (which could kill you) and yourself. It is also worth mentioning arrows will be reflected if they hit Rockamite.

    LOOT

Upon death, Rockamite spits out ores and some dripstone (who would've guessed that one) out of itself, and collapsing for one last time. The amount of ore and what type of it is depends on Y level of the Dripstone Cave, might sound a bit lame, I guess, but I think it should be that way. Rockamite also has a certain chance to drop Iron tools upon death, whose previous owners meant an unfortunate destiny.

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT

Tell me in the comments, I'm open to see what others think about it and what could be tweaked around.

Creative Mode Players Should Be Able To Sit Other Player's Animals.

    Posted: 12 Sep 2021 12:20 PM PDT

I don't have much of an explanation for this, other than that animals would likely respect a being who cannot die, and can kill whatever it wants without consequence. Especially cats.
