Improve third person to be actually usable.

    Posted: 26 May 2019 09:35 AM PDT

Currently in third person the camera is obnoxiously far back from the player and not only that, straight back. There should be a closer camera as well as the option to switch from left or right shoulder view to make third person an actual viable gameplay option.

Optional quests in Survival Mode such as finding a missing villager in a dungeon!

    Posted: 26 May 2019 06:11 AM PDT

So this idea came to me after realizing lack of end game activities in Minecraft. Imagine running into a village where one village requests you to find their missing child from a dungeon. All you recieve are coordinates from a chunk you have not discovered yet. Once you get near, your game switches to Adventure Mode preventing you from digging to the goal. Once you bring back the villager, the quest rewards you with some sweet loot! Like the idea? In a book and quill, you should be able to place a map as a picture-like addition.

Basically so you can put coordinates and then a small map of what it should look like.

Drowned zombies can grab onto your boat

    Posted: 26 May 2019 06:58 AM PDT

Drowned zombies can grab onto your boat when you're "driving" it, and you can beat them off, if you don't beat them the boat maybe starts "shaking" and it breaks? There can be a drowned infront and on the sides.

Would be pretty cool and make the oceans more dangerous

    +2 Mob Variety

    Posted: 26 May 2019 12:19 PM PDT

Note: I just found this sub and I cannot see previous suggestions for some reason.

How about we get variations of Polar Bears and Bats, in different places. Specifically having a Grizzly Bear as the warmer climate version to the Polar Bear. I also thought that they would have a sleep animation. And for the Bats, have a Nether version? The Nether is a Halloween kind of dimension, so a 'Nether Bat' would be pretty cool I guess. I refuse to make the joke that it's a hot topic or it's a spicy idea or something.

Downsides though, Grizzly Bears will be neutral mobs, that are a threat during the day if angered, much like the Wolf, but Dealing 8 health points, on normal difficulty. As for the Nether Bats idea, they could be annoying if they were aggressive, but underwhelming if Neutral or Passive. Maybe they could be aggressive to other Nether mobs?

    Tanks for listening.

Tentacle mob that disguised as seaweed

    Posted: 26 May 2019 10:32 AM PDT

A mob that is disguised as seaweed, but when a player swims near it, it will grab onto the players foot, dragging you down into the water and attempting to drown you. It can also grab your boat, slowing you down. The way to kill it is if you chop the bottom of. Otherwise it will keep growing out longer and longer.

    Redstone Lighter (new tool)

    Posted: 26 May 2019 06:39 AM PDT

Basically, it's a flint & steel but it activates Redstone dust & other redstone related items and blocks.

And without needing to place blocks or activate levers and buttons.

Crafting recipe: Maybe some iron and a redstone torch. Not sure.

Ferrets, and why they should be added to the game.

    Posted: 26 May 2019 01:09 PM PDT

So, ferrets. Ferrets are great, cute and funny animals. They're small, but long. Cute, but angry. Just like a few other mobs already in the game. Wolves are cute, but can be angry.

Ferrets would spawn in the taiga biome. In all honesty, I don't know where they live naturally, I just imagine a forest-ey area.

Ferrets would be able to be tamed and bred using any meat food item.

Once tamed, they would similarly ton parrots, be able to sit around the players neck, like a scarf for say.

For drops, if you dare to kill one, they would drop ferret tuffs. These would be small tuffs of hair that could be used to craft string, wool & ferret suit armor.

Ferret tuffs could alternatively be gained from shearing a ferret, leaving a pink, scared and hairless ferret running around. If untamed, a sheared ferret would make an attempt to find shelter, or make its way to a warm light source.

Ferret suit armor would be an armor set that looks generally warm and hairy, it has a armpit strength status somewhere between leather and iron.

Ferrets could also have a secret, similarly to the "Dinnerbone" & "Jeb_" secrets. If you named one "Tendies", it would become a soft brown color, seemingly between brown and sandy tan. This would be a reference to a ferret I used to own, her name was Tendies and she was the best girl. After her passing, I subsequently changed my online persona to Tendies in her honor. She helped me through some tough times in my life, and it was sad to see her go.

So Jeb_, or any other developers, if you see this post. Please add ferrets. Even if the Easter egg isn't also brought over, I'd like to be able to spend some time with Tendies again. In the virtual life.

Oxeye daisies and white tulips should give white dye instead of light grey dye.

    Posted: 26 May 2019 11:15 AM PDT

The light gray dye made more sense before when there was no white dye, but now there is, so you should be able to get it from these flowers. Like come on, it's even called a white tulip.

    Barnacles!

    Posted: 26 May 2019 09:49 AM PDT

I'm not sure how useful it would be, but any underwater structures should slowly grow barnacles, with up to four in a block like sea pickles, but in varying places so it looks more random. Everything underwater looks so new, so it would be neat to have things look aged. They can maybe be ground into white pigment? Or used in a soup? I don't know but they would sure look rad

    updated parrots + new blocks

    Posted: 26 May 2019 06:18 AM PDT

As you all know, Minecraft like to keep things somewhat realistic. Parrots, in my opinion, are useful as they can indicate danger to then player by making mob noises as a mob is nearby, such as a creeper. They need an update.

At the moment, parrots are tamed by walking up to them and clicking them with seeds. In the real world, if you approach a parrot (or any bird) in the wild, they'll fly away.

Parrots should be tamed like you would take a cat. Like a cat, parrots would initially fly away from the player. Holding seeds in your hand and not making any sudden movements would make the parrot slowly walk towards you and then you should be able to tame it.

Parrots also should be able to fly and glide in the sky like they would in real life. Adding on to this, they're should also be a way to breed them. This is where the first new block comes in, the nest. The nest would spawn on the jungle trees and can be crafted with 9 sticks or collected with silk touch.

Using bread to feed the parrots into love mode, one parrot would fly to the nearest nest and lay up to 3 eggs. Similar to the turtle, these eggs are vulnerable to certain mobs. The eggs have a better chance at surviving however as they're above the ground. Once these eggs hatch, pink parrots half the size will spawn in the nest where they will stay until they grow up. Ocelots can try to attack these babies. These parrots can only be tamed after growing up.

What do you think of this?

A Redstone item - the Villager and Illager Head

    Posted: 26 May 2019 07:41 AM PDT

The Villager Head is an item in the same vein as the observer, which detects block updates. Heads can be found in Pillager camps or very rarely dropped by zombies (like carrots or potatoes are). It'd work as a mob detector - if there's a hostile mob within an 8 block radius, then it gives off a redstone signal. If a hostile mob is not focused on anything else, then it will try to destroy the head.

The Illager Head, dropped by Illagers and Pillagers, is similar to the Villager Head. When a passive mob or a player gets within an 8-block radius of it, it outputs a redstone signal.

    Special hay bales

    Posted: 26 May 2019 01:08 PM PDT

By putting together an iron nugget and a hay bale, you get a special hay bale. When you break it, there's a 0.01% chance that it will give you a diamond or emerald. Otherwise, it just gives a single wheat. It's literally a needle in a haystack. It would be a humoral addition to the game.

Balancing out Shields- Whilst Adding More Functionality

    Posted: 26 May 2019 08:09 AM PDT

Combat is a very touchy Minecraft subject for a lot of people, and when players of the game discuss about it shields usually don't come up. Deep down inside though, we can all agree that shields need to be nerfed, but also become more useful. This is my compromise.

A lot of players have been suggesting for Mojang to add tiers to shields for continuity purposes (i.e iron, gold, diamond, etc.) and I totally agree with players who say that. So- here we go.

    Wooden Shield:

-Simply prevents some melee damage from being taken

-Has the least amount of durability out of all the shields

-Crafted like how shields are now but with a wooden plank instead of an iron ingot

    Stone Shield:

-Prevents a bit more melee damage from being taken than the wooden shield

-Has a little bit more durability than a wooden shield

-Crafted like how shields are now but with cobblestone instead of an iron ingot

    Iron Shield:

-Prevents most melee damage from being taken

-Has a little bit more durability than a stone shield

-Completely deflects arrows, just like the shields we have now in minecraft

-Would be crafted exactly how shields are right now

    Golden Shield:

-Has as much durability as the wooden shield

-Deflects arrows a lot further than any other shield

-Prevents as much melee damage from being taken as iron shields

-Will increase a player's cooldown by 1 second if they attack the shield before their cooldown is over

-Crafted like how shields are now but with a gold ingot instead of an iron ingot

    Diamond Shield:

-Completely blocks all melee damage from being taken, like shields in current minecraft do

-Has a lot more durability than an iron shield

-Prevents all explosion damage from being taken, like shields in current Minecraft do

-Blocks tridents that are thrown at it

-Like gold and iron shields, deflects arrows

-Crafted like how shields are now but with a diamond instead of an iron ingot

    Obsidian Shield:

-Has a lot more durability than a diamond shield

-Has all the other traits of a diamond shield

-Has a 5% chance to damage any undead mobs that are blocked by it, yes, it's that hard

-Deflects ghast, blaze, and shulker projectiles.

-It slows you down a bit more than other shields when using it, because of it's weight

-Crafted like how shields are now but with obsidian instead of an iron ingot

    Turtle Shield:

-Has more durability than an obsidian shield

-Similar to how diamond and obsidian shields do, blocks all damage from melee attacks

-Asides from those unique traits, does nothing else. Does not deflect arrows or explosions or anything of the latter.

-Crafted like how shields are now but with a scute instead of an iron ingot

So, what do you guys think? This would be a nice way to bring new functionalities to shields that players have wanted since they were added in, give more uses for items (obsidian, scutes, gold ingots), while also balancing out the unpolished shield mechanics that a lot of players, like myself, find pretty overpowered.

I also want more enchantments for shields, but that's been posted pretty recently so I'm not going to touch that subject just yet.

    Songbirds

    Posted: 26 May 2019 04:24 AM PDT

    Health: 3

    Hostility: Passive

Size: Height: 0.25 Blocks Width: 0.2 Blocks

Spawn: Everywhere in the Overworld except for Snowy/Icy Biomes (except for Snowy Taiga Biomes), Coasts, Ocean Biomes, Desert Biomes, Savannah Biomes, Badlands Biomes, Jungle Biomes.

    Drops: Feather (1-2)

    XP: 1-3

There are many species of Songbirds (including Robins, Blue Jays and Cardinals). Each Songbird has it's own song. Songbirds will fly away from players and hostile mobs fast (except for Slimes, Magma Cubes and Ghasts), even when hit. Like Parrots, Songbirds can fly. Songbirds would make the game more atmospheric.

    An awful craft able saddle

    Posted: 26 May 2019 08:06 AM PDT

Now that there is craft able leather horse armor, there should be some sort of craft able saddle. This saddle should lose durability over time, leading to it breaking. That doesn't remove the reason to go find regular saddles because they do not break.

Separate able fences and walls (+iron bars) Paint buckets to paint wood?

    Posted: 26 May 2019 06:46 AM PDT

You can create a beautiful balcony with it and possibly a beautiful arch but you won't be able to jump over the separate able fences and walls (and iron bars).

They would looks very cool and I possibly can't imagine how building a very nice kind of rustic house would be like. Oh and it would also be cool if they added quartz fences (quartz fences aren't my original idea, credit to the ones who thought if it). Oh and paintable fences WOOD be nice ;)

Rare, upgraded versions of existing mobs appear the longer you reside in a chunk.

    Posted: 26 May 2019 09:46 AM PDT

After fortifying your home, mobs end up being negligible posing no real threat as much as your first few nights. Wouldn't it be neat to throw in a bit more challenges as you progress in Normal and Hard Survival? Rare, upgraded mobs can help! After 20+ days in any specific chunk, you will encounter feral zombies that can break steel doors, queen spiders that can jump very high, shadow skeletons that shoot wither arrows, carpet creepers that split into smaller versions once blown up, and bendermen that remove low level blocks for other mobs to enter your compound.

[Proof of Concept + Example Renders] Programming Lua/Java in Vanilla Minecraft

    Posted: 26 May 2019 02:27 AM PDT

!! I understand we are not to suggest mods, however the mod I have brought up is purely to show that it is indeed possible to implement this feature, and not a request to directly port it into Vanilla !!

    What is your suggestion?

To allow players to create code in their worlds, without the requirement of mods.

What is the Proof Of Concept? Why aren't command block's not enough?

Noppes' CustomNPCs mod allows players to code in Java/Nashorn in their worlds and other players only need that single particular mod in order for code to work. Now, I know this is a mod but this, in my opinion, is an excellent proof of concept that such an idea could be implemented into standard, Vanilla Minecraft. Although this mod's primary function is to add RPG elements and customizable NPC's, it features a powerful scripting utility, along with an entire Standard Library.

I believe that this mod is an exact proof of concept that programming in Minecraft is entirely possible. If such a way to code in Java or even JavaScript or Lua could be implemented, it could benefit people with larger goals or more complex builds as they would stray away from, although powerful, the command block. Primary issues that I have faced with command blocks are:

    - Variables are basically non-existent. There are lengthy workarounds, however.

    - Command blocks take up space in a player's world and require persistent entities to keep them up. Although functions exist, they lack the option for being conditionals, which is a very important feature.

    - GUI's for command blocks are very small and hard to navigate.

Okay, so how could we work it for people new to programming? What kind of standard library is there?

A standard library could be implemented with functions that can replicate the commands given to users such as /execute and /setblock, etc; and some new functions that can tap into Java's capabilities.

One main issue is "How could we streamline programming for players?"

Programming is difficult to wrap your head around, yes, but simplifying certain aspects of programming can help players who are completely new to it.

Using Lua as the language can be great as Lua is designed to be simpler to understand than most languages, and there are hundreds of free learning utilities online that players can use.

Another question raised is "How would it look? How could player's know which events do what?"

I have designed an example GUI for how it can look. I believe having a "programming" block designed with a GUI like so could streamline programming features by:

    - Having all the events available in a separate GUI that can be accessed.

    - Giving a short but descriptive sentence about when each event is called, so players know when their code will run.

    - Listing available variables per event.

    - Allowing autofill of functions, just like how we have autofill of commands.

    - If possible, allowing players to toggle between Lua and Java for beginners and advanced programmers.

What if players want to create new textures or blocks? Isn't that just modding the game at that point?

What this addition can not do is allow players to create entirely new blocks, entities or items. What it can do is modify vanilla functions and abilities, or introduce new abilities and attributes to pre-existing items, blocks and entities within the realm of possibility.

For example, this addition won't allow players to code in a new furnace block with an entirely new GUI or texture, but it can allow players to modify furnaces, or even only certain furnaces, to do different things or work differently; similar to how command blocks can do this too.

The code could be written to store the coordinates of every one of these special furnaces, and on every world tick, has a random chance to double the amount of items received from one smelt.

    To end this post,

The main reason why I believe such an addition is useful is that it can reduce the amount of command blocks and scoreboard objectives and over-complicated commands within small GUI's to a single block that can utilize dynamic variables within functions, utilize the large capabilities and standard libraries of Java and overall, create amazing new features within Minecraft. It'd be great to see a new era of creations and designs that players have made that would have taken more than double the time with command blocks.

    More Birds

    Posted: 26 May 2019 01:56 PM PDT

There should be more birds in Minecraft that live in common biomes such as in oak or spruce forests. There are plenty of options for bird types:

    Canada Geese

    Mallard Ducks

    Robins

    Sparrows

The birds should fly away if a player gets too close as most birds in reality are scared of humans. However, the ability to tame birds should still be an option if a bird is caught. The could be tamed by being fed seeds, exactly like parrots that are already in the game. If geese are added, it would be neat to see skein of flying geese overhead. Adding more birds would greatly improve the liveliness of forests as it would diversify the wildlife of most forests, which typically consist of pigs and chickens.(excluding jungles respectively)

A new crafting block - The Kiln

    Posted: 25 May 2019 10:10 PM PDT

In 1.14, the Smoker and Blast Furnace were added as side-grades to the normal Furnace. The Smoker cooks food twice as fast and the Blast Furnace smelts ores twice as fast. However, there's one more item that I think could fill out the rest of this family: The Kiln.

The Kiln would be made with 3 brick blocks, a furnace, and 3 smooth stone. The purpose of the Kiln is similar to the Smoker and Blast Furnace: it smelts material blocks twice as fast. Material blocks are:

    • Any stone

    • Any sand

    • Any clay

    • Netherrack

    • Quartz Blocks

Some may argue that the kiln would invalidate the furnace. I could see that argument being a valid point, as the three blocks furnace side-grades are all faster than the original counterpart. However, the furnace would still have a purpose other than a crafting ingredient if the Kiln would be added:

    • The early game. The furnace is needed in some capacity to create most of the other furnaces.

    • Cheapness. Cobblestone is much easier to come across than smooth stone, so using a wall of normal furnaces for smelting massive amounts of items is cheaper than a wall of blast furnaces or kilns. It is also much easier to craft a furnace out in the field, since you'd just need some stone (almost guaranteed to be less than 10 blocks below you), a pick, and a crafting table for a furnace.

TL;DR A blast furnace/smoker for other material blocks.
